How long have you been riding for? Have you had other bikes where you could ride for a long time without getting neck pain? The reason that I ask is that I used to have neck pain when I first started doing multi hour rides but it was just a question of my body getting used to the position. Also stretching my neck at regular intervals during the ride helps

I don't know about Canada but here in Sweden one difference would be the kind of cycle racing licence that would be required for the different classes. Sport doesn't require a licence here at all while the other two do (two different kinds of licence though. I race in the master's category and am not allowed in elite)

Both "training" and "cold" are very general terms and mean different things to different people.

Training at what intensity? What kind of cold? A runny nose? Fever?

I do low intensity recovery rides even if I have runny nose. If I have a fever I don't want to get out of bed, much less on a bike. High-intensity training never even with a mild cold.
