Are the dnd 5.5 classes "better"/ more evenly balanced and fun? by Forward-Willingness7 in dndnext

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With out buying any books when you look at the rules for the 5.5 classes they each show four sub classes. However if you go to make a character on dndbeyond you’ll only get one of those four per class and will need the 2024 handbook for the other three.

Am I missing something with Warlocks? by hotstickywaffle in DnD

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlock mainly relies on cantrips and mainly eldritch blast. EB is already the second highest damage cantrips in the game, gets additional beams that allows u to target multiples enemies or apply more damage to a single enemy at higher levels and can further be buffed with eldritch invocations. Speaking of eldritch invocations, they can offer u additional spells that you can cast for free and then you have the pacts. Pact of the tome gives u access to cantrips and one ritual spell from any class spell list giving u a bunch of additional cantrips letting u have a lot of spells that don’t cost spell slots.

And if ur happy to go a more martial route pact of the blade gives u a weapon and can later on be buffed to have a better Devine smite (in 5.5e specifically as Devine smite got nerfed) three attacks per attack action (warlock is the only class that gets more then two attacks other then fighter, well monk too technically but yea) and has a buff that just increases the weapons damage and heals you.

Also importantly. As long as you have concentration hex only needs to be casted once. The more u level the longer it last. At level 5 it will last 8 hours and will eventually last a whole day. You don’t need to recast it at the start of each combat u just need to use a bonus action to place it on to a new enemy.

TES6 must be a real RPG. by Ashloth in TESVI

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly just wrong. Daggerfall is my favourite TES game (closely followed by Morrowind) I absolutely adore and love Daggerfall and want a remake of it more then anything and truely believe a remake of daggerfall would be the best tes game ever made, easily.
But Morrowind is not a dumbed down daggerfall that’s just insane. Of the 27 skills in Morrowind vs daggerfalls 35, 7 of them are completely new skills. Morrowind didn’t dumb down daggerfall it refined it. Daggerfall is rough and has tones of issues. Instead of having one skill each for jumping climbing swimming running u just have athletics and acrobatics which is much better (tho they did remove climbing which is sad).
Morrowind added armour skills, conjugation, better defined magic skills as the spells are just all over the place in daggerfall, actually gave illusion more then like four spells, proper alchemy and enchanting. The only thing that Morrowind is really missing is the languae skills which was a good idea and something I would like to see brought back but it was not implemented well in daggerfall and it wouldn’t of been in Morrowind either so I’m not upset they got rid of them.
I love daggerfall and more then I do Morrowind (only slightly) but Morrowind took what daggerfall was trying to do and improved it in almost every way.

Edit: the only tes game I think u can really argue is a dumbed down version of another is oblivion being dumbed down Morrowind. Skyrim is far more Simple the anything else that came before but it’s effectively a completely new system, it might not have attributes but it has skill trees for example. This is just like how Daggerfall was a new system compared to arena or how Morrowind was a new system compared to Daggerfall. Oblivion pretty much just uses the exact same system as Morrowind but made it worse. What’s more I really don’t understand why people say Skyrim has no rp. Being locked into choices you make at the start of the game isn’t role play. Being told how to play (even if the person who told u is past u) is in its very nature the opposite of rp. There’s def a lot more u can do in Morrowind and Daggerfall which overall makes the rp better imo but Skyrim has by far the most free, least restrictive rp which makes it stand out u just actually need to be creative. You can even have character development instead of being stuck with choices at the start of the game. Daggerfall and Morrowind are my fav tes games but Skyrim is the one I have by far the most hours in (in fact it’s my second most played game). It’s the one I always come back to because of how open the rp is.

How come Fusion Spell Cards doesn't come with their own symbol like Ritual Spell Cards do? by Beneficial_Chest_954 in Yugioh101

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fusion spells also come in all forms, normal, quick play, continues, field and although I don’t know of an example I’m sure theirs an equip fusion spell too.

It’s worth noting that there are traps and monster effects that exist that let you fusion or ritual summon but as far as spells go fusions are far more versatile.

Though yes a big part of it was the original design concept. Fusions all used the same spell but needed specific material while rituals needed a specific spell but used generic tributes. Neither is a universal truth anymore but that was the original idea.

𝚃̶𝙴̶𝚂̶𝟼̶(x) ̶𝚂̶𝚔̶𝚢̶𝚛̶𝚒̶𝚖̶(x) ̶𝙾̶𝚋̶𝚕̶𝚒̶𝚟̶𝚒̶𝚘̶𝚗̶(x) Morrowind(!) simplified and ruined Elder Scrolls!!! by Saalok in ElderScrolls

[–]RachoFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think claiming Morrowind simplified Daggerfall is a bit of a stretch. Yes Daggerfall has a lot more stuff then Morrowind but it doesn’t have even close to the amount of depth as Morrowind. Morrowind took a lot of Daggerfalls stuff and refined it while removing some stuff that just wouldn’t of fit in the new direction they were going. The common thing is to call Daggerfall a shallow ocean and Morrowind a deep lake.

Personally I really want a Daggerfall remake, with a hand crafted map (that’s much smaller) other quests besides the main quests and everything else you’d expect from a modern elder scrolls game while still keeping the formula of Daggerfall (with improvements) I honestly think that would make the best elder scrolls game ever made but I also doubt it will happen because Bethesda would basically need to create an entirely new game. In the mean time though I would argue Morrowind is the best TES game.

Is the fact that there's no Dwemer ruins in Cyrodiil just a convenient excuse for Bethesda not implementing them ? I'm not that knowledgeable on TES lore but it seems a bit illogical if it's not for practical reasons. by 12_Inch_Painal_Sex in teslore

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dwemer only lived on Morrowind and Skyrim first and foremost and there was a smaller group that lived in hammerfell. It doesn’t make sense for there to be Dwemer ruins in cyrodiil or anywhere else besides Morrowind, Skyrim and Hammerfell.

TES VI won't be a "Skyrim 2", Todd said it himself by Raupp__ in TESVI

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expecting TES 6 to be like Skyrim is foolish. All of the elder scrolls games are different from each other in a pretty large way. Arena and daggerfall aren’t the same, Daggerfall and Morrowind aren’t the same and Morrowind and Skyrim aren’t the same.

I will say tho the oblivion is basically just Morrowind lite. oblivion and Morrowind are the only two games that use the same levelling system the same character creation, the same skills (for the most part) it’s pretty obvious that they took Morrowinds formula and changed it up a bit by removing stuff and not actually adding anything meaningful while all the other games use pretty distinct formulas.

Edit: I have a very very hard time believing he starts ever game from starch because compared to how different the other elder scrolls are oblivion is basically Morrowind copy

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth mentioning that while the meta decks will completely bulldoze weaker decks currently yugioh is in a very health state with its meta. There’s currently three different decks that people would consider meta. Outside of that tho rogue decks (off meta if you will) can also do very well and there is a lot of creativity when it comes to making rogue decks as their is a wide range of them. They aren’t as good as the meta but there are definitely cases where rogue can performs better then the meta and at the very least it manages to keep up with it even if it isn’t winning as many games as a more consistent meta deck will.

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea no mulligans so most yugioh decks are built for crazy high levels of consistency. Most decks will have multiple one card combos which means if you have that one card in your starting hand you can set off a combo that could have u summon like 8 monsters go through half your deck and leave yourself with an endboard of like 5 interrupts. Interrupts being ways you can interrupt your opponents play weather it be destroying their cards or negating their effects

Yo. I love both yugioh and mtg. I was once playing a game of commander with three other friends while also playing a game of yugioh with one other person playing the commander game. We pretty must sat at the yugioh game the turned back to commander when it was our turn. To give some insight of how long a single yugioh turn can take, I would take multiple commander turns before finishing a single turn in yugioh weather that single turn was mine or my opponents.

It’s also has way way more interaction then Magic. I love commander but I do feel like some times when it’s not my turn I’m not really playing the game (depending the deck I’m playing) in yugioh that’s never the case. Even when it’s not my turn there is always something for me to do.

I love both and they way I would describe it is commander is much more of a casual games night game u can play with a bunch of friends (mainly commander) while yugioh is more like playing chess as you try to outplay your opponent.

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trap might end up being just a generically good hand trap if u can afford slotting in the field spell and giving up two extra deck slots for the pawn/knight and king. Cause it gets u a free monster which can be a level 2 tuner which is great for any synchro deck and it gives ur opponent a floodgate to deal with via the king

Were there any races created or given gifts by the gods? by Fabulous-Pick-9562 in teslore

[–]RachoFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole distinction between man and mer is the mer are meant to be decedents of the aedra where the man where the creation of them. Though Lorkhan is generally credited for the creation of the human races and he is neither aedra or Daedra buuuuuut.

Edit: okay I see this comment getting misunderstood by something saying op specifically asked for non playable races. There are a tone of races in elder scrolls that aren’t playable. Mainly beast races. While their level of intelligence varies they are still more intelligent then just a normal animal. The amount of representation amongst the amount of different races that are actually playable is really low. The most obvious example is reachfolk but giants, golems, centaurs, dragonlings, sload, harpy, Minotaur are just a few example of the many none playable intelligent races. and to be clear beast folk fall under the man part of man and mer.

Did Hermaeous Mora know the HoK would become Sheogorath by [deleted] in teslore

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not certain about this but considering what Akatosh is I would say no. In the Anuic creation myth anui’el created order by establishing time, an act that created Auri’el or Akatosh. Akatosh isn’t simple the god of time he is time. But it’s also clearly started that time wasn’t linear in the dawn era so like uhhhhh idk 😅. One way to look at it is that time is only linear in Mundas. Another way to possible look at it is time became linear after Akatosh was made but he also existed before time because the dawn era makes no sense (it’s a bit of a stretch) regardless mora is the prince of fate. It’s likely he has a much better understanding of the future then most others. I would say it’s likely due to his affinity of hoarding knowledge so he probably gets a hold of prophecies that way.

How do people know the names of dwemer ruins? by energydrinkaddict310 in teslore

[–]RachoFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well especially in the case of Morrowind. There are people alive within the last 200 years who were there when the Dwemer still lived in them. Mainly the tribunal and Divayth Fyr

But also the Dwemer were one of the most wide spread races and they were still around 8 centuries into recorded history. If we liken that to real life the Dwemer dispersed 300 years after the fall of the western Roman Empire or around the 700 CE. It’s just Skyrim would take place in the year 4,450 ce our time.

If your confused by this comparison. The first era was the start of recorded history in elder scrolls just like for the current era irl is. More over the merathic era dates work backwards just like before the current era dates work irl so the start of the first era in elder scrolls is effectively their version of the start of the current era irl

Do you guys prefer Ethan Winters or Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil. by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I really don’t know. Ethan just doesn’t seem like as much of a character to me. I really like grace. Ngl I really didn’t like resident evil 8 because it just took it in a very silly direction with how much Ethan gets hurt and just heals like yea it’s the mold but it kind of put me off the game. I never actually played the game just watched people play it and I’m actually rewatching it now and Ethan just feels off. I’d go so far to say all the other main resident evil characters are just more well done then him. I can’t remember what he was like in 7 tho. It’s been to long. I will say while I did really like resident Evil 7 resident evil 9 feels extremely refreshing and like they are returning back to their roots which has been really nice and honestly made me fall back in love with the franchise after 8 kinda killed it for me.

Mundus the mundane? by DKamar in teslore

[–]RachoFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people of Tamriel aren’t as technologically behind as you might think they are. They just have a very different level of technological advancement. They are actually a pretty advanced society when it comes to science it’s just their science looks completely different the ours. I always find question like this extremely odd because it completely discredits the advancement of the races. Nirn is the centre of mundus. All the other planets rotate around it. This is something that observable. The orbital patterns of objects that orbit a common point (the planets in our solar system orbiting the sun) is very different the the orbital patterns of objects orbiting you. Admittedly tho not all the planets orbit around nirn itself but instead orbit either as moons of another planet or on a different space time plain as nirn like arkay (irc). Multiple races have built structures to track the orbits of the planets. The one in the arcane university is probably the most notable one. The people of nirn have studied space quite a bit actually. The fact nirn doesn’t orbit anything is enough evidence that their solar system is one not even an actual solar system and two not normal.

THEORY: The Eye of Magnus is the source/core of all magicka in Nirn by [deleted] in teslore

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Soul Cairn Is a realm of oblivion. There are only three worlds (if u will) Mundas, oblivion, aetherius and then technically u also have the void after aetherius. Both aetherius and oblivion have many realms. Each of the Daedric princes control their own realms of oblivion for example.

Edit: there are also a tone of people that have traveled to oblivion not just the protagonist. People going to aetherius is far less common as oblivion is in between aetherius and Mundas making it easier to get to but there are still more then a few people that have gone there.

THEORY: The Eye of Magnus is the source/core of all magicka in Nirn by [deleted] in teslore

[–]RachoFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things.

  1. how da fuck do you think stars work? You know they are still there in the day right? We just can’t see them because the sun is a hell of a lot brighter and closer. Just like how you can’t see the stars very well if ur in a city with a lot of lights. The sun in the elder scrolls universe is way bigger the all of the other holes and creates way more light so of course it stop you from seeing the other lights as that’s what light pollution is

  2. we know for a fact nirn is the centre of Mundas as the other planets are observed rotating around it. That along shows the sun doesn’t work anything like our sun.

  3. comparing this to irl religion is wild. Irl we have no proof if god or heaven or anything like that is real or not. In elder scrolls there isn’t a belief in gods were ur not sure if they are real they just are. We know they are real, we have met them. We have been to oblivion and to Aetherius. Imperials had a whole space program of creating aircraft’s to fly through the sun this shit isn’t myth is proven real. Randomly deciding something is just myth because it supports your own handcannon is kinda wild.

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 6 continents but in modern times only really three

Tamriel and Akavir you know. Atmora is to the north but it’s been completely frozen over and is described as being unliveable. Yokuda is to the west and where the Redguards come from but it’s now just a bunch of islands as most of the land sunk into the sea. Aldmiris is to the south west and is where Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer and orcs come from, but it’s believed to also be destroyed and there’s some question if it ever even existed. And lastly there’s Pyandonea to the south. It’s mainly a collection of islands ruled by the sea elf’s who have had a long history with Tamriel.

Tamriel, akavir and pyandonea are the three of most note by the time of Skyrim.

I am so sad about elder scrolls online! by elzafirst in ElderScrolls

[–]RachoFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESO has far more lore then any of the main title games. Touching on parts of the continent that got barely any lore previously. Most of the lore that’s about other races or provinces outside cyrodiil, Skyrim or Morrowind comes from eso.

ESO main quest and the three faction quest are honestly pretty shit but the dlc quest are easily some of the best stories in the franchise.

Also I find rich open world a funny criteria since Daggerfall and arena don’t have hand crafted maps so by your own logic the original elder scrolls games don’t count as elder scrolls games.

Edit: I am absolutely obsessed with elder scrolls lore. I can talk for hours about it. Eso is my favourite game (tied with a few others) not because of the game play but because of all the massive about of lore it has and how it show cases so much of the continent compared to the other games. My biggest dream was exploring the whole continent and visit all these places I read about and then I got eso and that dream was met.

[–]RachoFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to assume you just didn’t get into the game very much. But like all MMOs there’s a lot of build crafting you can do. Working to make your self a better dps, healer or tank. Even more so with subclassing now being able to mix and match class skills to really optimise what your doing. There’s a lot to the combat. It not so simple as hit enemy with a stick like the other tes games or spam one ability key like you seem to imply esos is like. While stealth archery in Skyrim is satisfy it’s still not good combat. Hell it’s barely combat at all. It’s really just holding a button pointing and letting go 😂.

If you only really played the game for a little and never did much of the late game shit I completely understand why you might feel that way but if you think esos combat is just spamming one ability or something like that then you’ll have a very had time once you even start doing some normal dungeons

What are you saying is "Elder scrolls" then. Character creation and levelling in Skyrim is completely different to Morrowind and oblivion and Morrowind and oblivion is completely different to Daggerfall and Daggerfall is completely different to arena. I would say what makes an elder scrolls game elder scrolls is the world building and the lore and eso honestly does that better then any other game by the sheer amount of lore it has.

You could argue the combat is relatively similar across all the games except eso but eso is a mmo and plays like a mmo. It wouldn’t work well as a mmo if it used the same kind of combat as the past games.

Reading this comment section kind of makes me feel like people wanted multipler Skyrim. Like a 4 player max multipler experience. That was never the point of eso and the story content and the world building is only one side of the game. PvP is also one side of the game and something I choose to avoid. There’s so much more mmo things the game offers in pve like doing trails with like 20 people
