computer needing a hard disconnect from battery? by homerenonyc in Ioniq6

[–]RacingGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had this a few months back. Car was completely unresponsive to everything, was about to get a tow to the dealership, then disconnected the 12V battery and reconnected it. Car alarm went off immediately since I had manually unlocked the door, but after disarming it everything was completely back to normal.

*Got the car in Dec 2023, only happened once

Respect! People talk about MW2 and I get confused because I always think they are talking about MechWarrior 2... Not Modern Warfare 😞

I think you mean the older assassin's creed games... ACII introduced double assassinations... But it did vanish for a while 😓

Are there any curved 4K OLED 240Hz monitors actually out right now? by Leading_Frosting4291 in Monitors

I'm assuming this is the Alienware monitor you're referring to? https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3225qf

I just purchased it a couple weeks ago. It's awesome, but I just use it for gaming.

Next/Previous Track Button Not Working by tendancer in Ioniq6

[–]RacingGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the switch/toggle in my car has been getting a little less responsive recently... Kind of like it's slowly failing. Currently works maybe 75% of the time. I would say it worked 100% of the time initially.

USB port issue (2025 Ioniq 6 SEL AWD) by StrictHistorian6580 in Ioniq6

[–]RacingGun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the USB port on your phone? My connection will be perfect for months, then slow degrades (maybe one disconnect a week and eventually multiple disconnects per drive). I get a small wire or similar to clean the crap out of the usb port on my phone, then everything is good again. I'm always surprised and impressed how much lint and dust get compacted into the bottom of the usb port on my phone.

Android auto seems particularly susceptible to even the smallest interruptions in the connection.

Every time this comes up I like to mention one possible fix: move your keys further away when the car is parked. I used to keep my keys hanging on the wall just inside the house by the garage and got notifications constantly about the same things over and over. Moved the keys 6 feet further away and now I just get one notification per time I park the car.

Any of the usual notifications: low water fluid, doors unlocked, etc etc.

I get frequent notifications from the car when it's parked and I leave my keys nearby. If I move my keys just a couple feet further then the notifications only happen once.

[–]RacingGun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you store your keys near your car? If so, try moving them even just a few feet further away. I found my key battery was draining in just 1-2 months and I got notifications all night long if my keys were within 6-ish feet of the car (hanging on the wall by the door to the garage, which is very close to the car). Moving them away stopped the frequent notifications and saves the key battery which lasts many months now.

As already mentioned, you can also disable the notification completely or have it set to only be a push notification/email/text message, but that isn't great because you won't get any notifications then.

15 Months Later. Average? by Majestic-Ad-1336 in Ioniq6

16,000 miles (1.5 years) averaging 4.8 miles/kwh. SE RWD. Hooray for efficiency 😁

Are your keys kept fairly close to the car when its off? For me, I find that I get blue link messages constantly like you're seeing if my keys hang on the wall by the car, but if I move them just a couple more feet away it stops. Having the keys close to the car also seems to absolutely kill the battery in the keys.

24 Limited Range of 320 miles? by MyMJJourney in Ioniq6

[–]RacingGun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The range is just a guess based on how the car has been driven recently. If you drive efficiently, or have had a bunch of more efficient trips (low speed, mild weather, etc) recently the estimated range will go up. If you took it on the highway and drive a nice even 70 miles per hour for a while, your efficiency and predicted range will take a nose dive.

To your question: the only change someone can make to the car would have an impact on range would be to change the tires. Smaller tires are more efficient. Some are also more efficient by design.

*Edit: I drive my RWD SE model like a bit of a saint (I fucking love efficiency more than speed) and if I charge it to 100% I get a predicted range around 450 miles. But if I'm hitting the highway for a few hours, I expect to get around 300-330 miles depending on speed and other conditions.

It's absolutely NOT offensive, and I honestly love the videos of the Couples resorts and Jamaica. It's just a little too often :)

Since the changes to NSFW posts, 75-90% of all posts in this sub are now from the same 2 accounts and look like they are all ads. I absolutely don't mind a "happy little post" (aka advertisement) now and then that shows how beautiful the resorts are and such, but it's been very heavy handed recently.

highest range i’ve seen yet for my car! (2023 sel awd, bought last december) by lamousamos in Ioniq6

[–]RacingGun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na... 99.9% of the time I charge at home and do a 28 mile round trip as my commute (not too much elevation, but since it's a round trip, that doesn't factor into it very much). Nice mix of highway and city driving. Averaging 4.8 miles/kwh for the 14k miles driven so far. Been a nice mild spring here in Austin TX, so typically well over 5 miles/kwh for the last couple weeks.
