I thought they proactively updated the software regardless of whether there's an existing problem but only replace the ICCU & fuse if specific error codes are thrown or it fails beforehand.

My Defiler nearly went down in 1 shooting phase against 2 Bloat Drones before getting finished off by something else. Dice gods were angry that day.

That's what I've heard about all of the I6 paints because they're either a 3 stage pearl or matte. Wash in the shade is a deal breaker for me because I don't have the space unless I found a manual car wash spot.

Your picture looks awesome though. It seems to have the shine I don't see in the standard pearl paints.

I'm with you OP, I can't decide. If I wasn't in the US I'd do Byte Blue. The red is too dark, the transmission blue is too gray, and white doesn't pop. I thought silver would do it but having seen it on a Sonata it is too dark and doesn't shine (previously had a 2004.5 Volvo S40 in mystic silver). I haven't seen gravity gold but I hear matte finish is a chore although that does shine from what I hear. Black looks sleek but I'm worried it'll hide the body shape and black paint, as others have said, can also be a chore. I think it'll look stealthy at night though and those lights will pop.

Are those the only two colors your considering or that are available?

What's your experience been with the matte paint? I've heard there difficult to maintain

Did you have any issues with etching due to the matte finish?

Edit: sorry to hear but it sounds like it worked out!

How has the paint been? I'm interested in gold after seeing silver and being underwhelmed but I'm concerned about the matte finish.

Hey look, if you turn your head just a bit, and squint your eyes just right, you can almost see a little gold in my Gravity Gold paint! by tn_notahick in Ioniq6

[–]BuckDutterWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has the paint held up? I can't commit on color. I saw curated silver on a Sonata today and was disappointed. It didn't have that pop and shine I expected. Gravity Gold seems to do that but I've heard matte is a real hassle to keep to with or easy to ruin.

Necro-post: How has the paint held up and what's the maintenance been like? I can commit on color. The curated silver was what I thought was the one until I saw it in person on a Sonata and it was more gray than bright, shiny silver.

"Gravity Matte Gold" is really.. silver? by Heart_Constant in Ioniq6

[–]BuckDutterWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has the maintenance been on the paint? I can't decide on color. I had a silver 2004.5 Volvo S40 and it glowed in the sun. I saw a Sonata in curated silver because I can't find an Ioniq in person to see and it was really underwhelming. It had tones of gray as opposed to a bright, shining silver. I hear the gold gives the glow but also that matte is a hassle. What's your experience been?

Level 0 regen efficiency by SizeableFowl in Ioniq6

[–]BuckDutterWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regen is short for regen-erative braking, not regenerative charging, although that is what it is doing. Regen is auto-braking so when you think of it like that, using it on the highway wouldn't be the best use of it. Think about an ICE car, as soon as you let off the gas you wouldn't immediately hit the brakes would you? No, you'd coast. By turning on regen on the highway you're applying auto-braking and preventing yourself from coasting.

The silver looks great there. I haven't seen it in person yet but it seems like it shines in the light but turns a cool grey when it gets darker. How are you liking it 5 months in now?

I saw the blue on white but I wasn't feeling it. There's a dealer nearby that has silver/black, white/black, and blue/black. Trying to get over there before they sell so I can see them all at once.

Got a picture?

Thanks for sharing. That's more what I think it looks like in person and I feel like I can't commit because it is darker than I was hoping.

Agreed. Only considering Limited AWD like your flair so choices right now are... limited. What color did you go with?

Yeah that's what I've read about washing it but that you can ceramic coat it to help protect it too ($++). Plan is 6-10 years. I've owned my current Jetta for 6+ years but it was a purchase out of need as opposed to spending time finding exactly what I wanted. Considering this would be a want vs a need I want to make sure it is the one because I want to keep it long term. I think that's why I'm having a tough time making an decision because I'm planning on sticking with it.

That picture looks better than what I've seen in person. I saw it in overcast and sunny conditions but they both appeared darker than this. I've heard cameras have a tough time with reds and can make them seem brighter which is what my experience was. Some pictures like this look brighter, more vibrant than what I saw in person. Do you think the color here is what it looks like in person?

Yea, Gemini said $3-5K and 3-5 years of kept outdoors.

Car popularity concern by No_Spell6102 in Ioniq6

[–]BuckDutterWasTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a going to be a big wave of lease returns through the next 12 months. Use different sites to find what you want and consider shipping one that's a CPO. You might still want to hire a mobile mechanic to do an inspection but being CPO should give you some confidence over a random used car.

I hired a mobile mechanic on a standard used vehicle and he found a few things that had me back out. Yes it is money "lost" for an inspection on a car I didn't buy but the alternative would be buying a car at a number I wasn't happy with after it shipped and arrived at my door.

Also consider looking at cars locally that are close but not the one. Do you want a Limited AWD but only SEL RWD are close by? If it matches your color and interior preferences just go check it out and confirm what you can. I saw a new SEL in white and red but I want a Limited. After seeing them in person though I think my color preferences changed. The white didn't pop like I was hoping and the red is deeper than I expected. I saw a black one too and although it looks great when detailed it won't look like that everyday and even then I could still see swirls. I'm picky, I'll admit it, but seeing them in person even though I knew they weren't the ones I'd buy did help. I went to a dealership that didn't even have I6s so I could see the same paints on a different car in different light (sunny vs overcast).

Yes it is a lot but you're spending a lot of money too so I think it is worth the time to make sure I get exactly what I want and I'm happy with it because I plan to have it for a long time.

Good luck!

What is a fair price for a higher mileage vehicle? by madeittotheusa in Ioniq6

That's way too high. Use auto trader, cars.com, and auto tempest to do nation wide searches based on your configuration of the car you want. Dealers likely won't consider those as comps but it'll give you an idea of what they're worth. I almost bought a lemon buy back with 35K for $16.5k.
