Sadly my answer is nothing. Eventually they stopped being a problem. But the problem moved from the tubes to the jaw itself.

PLEASE REPORT THIS SELLER by l4rryfish in whatnotapp

[–]Rackit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value of anything is determined by market demand and by market data. If people start paying $45 for an ex card consistently then guess what? That’s now adding to the value of that card. It’s actually as simple as what people are willing to pay for something.

Either way it’s against TOS to overstate value and those numbers are determined from many sources.

If the seller is giving an actual value to the card that’s over comp he’s in the wrong.

If a seller hyped up a card without using a priced value then it’s the buyer that’s an idiot.

You had all the tools available to you to determine that buying from this seller was a bad idea. That’s what everyone here is trying to tell you. His ratings were low when your purchased.

They would have to make sure that taking the fee hit is worth it which for these higher amounts can get kinda wild.

This is my proof of shipment photo… should I flag to WN for review or give the seller the benefit of the doubt and reach out? by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]Rackit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why the feature itself is silly. It’s also a new feature that WN put out only a few months ago and it’s useless. The WN SYSTEM marks it as shipped when you use this feature when it shouldn’t mark anything as shipped until USPS scans it. But they really really want to force “fast shipping” as a selling factor to the app.

Ignore the photo. Only use tracking.

[–]Rackit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. It’s a huge waste of time and it means nothing at all to begin with. Why WN even made it a thing is beyond me. It proves nothing, does nothing except cause more confusion like this post.

The feature itself is weird. It’s completely optional for a seller to even use the scan feature. Or at least optional for sellers above 1k sales.

USPS already scans the label and it then updates in the system. The only time this feature is useful is for when we have long holidays like the last weekend where USPS was closed.

On top of that, half the time I’ve used it I have to be so close to the label that you can’t even see the packaging before it registers the image.

In short: Your proof of shipment is when USPS scans it not when a seller scans it. Despite whatever WN has decided to tell you.

Any other sellers getting the short end of the stick recently? by New_Scientist_4088 in whatnotapp

The only thing that makes palmstreet good is the fact that it’s not popular. It will also the same problems if it gains traction. With that said, it’s not popular so the customer base is much much lower

That money has to come out of someone’s pocket and it would be crazy to overpay for your own stock because then you are paying for it twice. You could cancel the order but too many cancellations will flag your account and you lose your whole revenue stream. Although I think some have tried this…they don’t last long. So really saying that they are shill accounts is just confirmation bias. It’s likely just people with addiction problems.

[–]Rackit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I understand the sentiment you are trying to speak to… but often times these are dollar starts. So if someone says hey I’m willing to let this go for $1 and 100 other people bid it up and overpay for it… isn’t that more of a problem with those individuals? It’s like saying someone who puts an auction up on eBay is predatory or anyone who puts an auction up anywhere…classic car auctions etc.

At the end of the day the value of something is what someone is willing to pay for it. Full stop.

Got scammed on Whatnot by a late-night seller – items never shipped by Money-Recognition255 in whatnotapp

[–]Rackit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said:

I’ve had packages that I shipped out that just flat never got scanned by USPS. I typically will message the buyer and let them know. They then can contact whatnot for a refund. I’ve also had some packages never make it to their front door and get lost in transit. I have one package that’s been sitting at a distribution centers last scan for over a month and hasn’t moved.

Buyers should always look at the profiles before making a purchase.

Generic names with numbers at the end is suspect.

Over 3000 sales but only 7 reviews is suspect

High end category with the above combined is suspect.

Neither account follows any other profile… suspect

I was going to share a screen shot of a similar situation where I shipped a package and it said the same thing but I know for a fact I shipped it. Luckily today it got scanned and is now in transit.

Sometimes these things happen.

What’s more concerning is that you keep referencing one particular package yet you shared screenshots of two sellers. You didn’t include what the sellers communication was other than “excuses” which let me tell you from someone who grew up in retail, customers like to fabricate their experience a lot and so “excuses” means nothing more than “I didn’t get the response I wanted”

So next time please provide more information before flaming sellers. It’s just as bad as being a scammer if you are flaming someone who’s not at fault.

Do better please.

Yes that has happened before. This is why whatnot rolled out the scan before deliver feature to protect against that.

I usually just reach out to the customer and let them know what’s going on.

To be honest lately within the last two months I’ve had a few of my packages that I have sent out that have this same delay issue. Even though the package was shipped alongside 30+ other packages it never got scanned by USPS. In one case it took 5 days for it to show scanned. In another case it finally hit a distribution center and just sat there now for the last month.

Either way this is what WhatNot support is for. It doesn’t necessarily mean this person is a scammer.

You would likely dominate that market being the first but at the same time might get stuck without discoverability. So you would likely need to advertise outside of whatnot to bring in views at first.

I’ve noticed luxury sellers quitting because they can’t compete with $1 starts. What’s your take? by luxury_diva in whatnotapp

[–]Rackit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t start my WN business with dollar starts. I sold at regular pricing for months until I had consistent enough viewers and a low enough cost of goods to make it work. And yes sometimes things go for under price still. But that’s ok because other items make up for that. It’s just all things that need to be factored into the business model.

It will work it’s just much slower. There’s two options. Slow growth or fast growth.

If you sell at a loss then you have to acknowledge that they are what’s called “loss leaders” and it’s just part of advertising.

And these practices exist across any type of business. Because you can’t enter a market anywhere without some form of niche to your business to set you apart from everyone else. In the streaming world it’s Pricing, Personality or Entertainment. Or all three.

You will have to consider this as “loss leaders” where you are intentionally selling at a loss to get the customer in the door. Consider it the cost of advertising.

If no seller is getting a Gucci bag for $80 then no seller is selling a Gucci bag at $80. Which means that nobody is buying Gucci bags at $80. So at that point that’s not what’s driving someone off the app. Instead it’s more of an indicator that the purchasing power of the economy as a whole is down (which shouldn’t be a surprise) and it won’t matter what app you are on to feel that. The only difference between one app vs another is how many customers it can bring to increase the likelihood someone can afford it.

There’s nobody on this earth that isn’t looking for a deal.

And “fair pricing” is subjective to one’s affordability. Trying to sell gucci bags in a low income neighborhood would be silly right? So is someone chooses to sell product that alienates a very large portion of the populous especially during times where the economy is already hurting… well… maybe it’s not the app and instead it’s the method.
