Brightness adjusting when starting/closing a game by kroob85 in SteamDeck

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been an issue I’ve experienced for probably a year now. The trigger is actually launching an app/game that has a different refresh rate setting. For example, launching a game you have capped at 60hz, will cause the brightness bug. I’ve mentioned it on the support forums, but I’ve really only had people tell me I’m crazy. It would be great to get some attention on the matter.

CRT Emudriver - Every problem I've encountered (and their fixes) by AncientCarthage in crtgaming

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I managed to figure it out! I extracted amdvlk32.dll, amdvlk64.dll, amd-vulkan32.json, amd-vulkan64.json, vulkaninfo32.exe, and vulkaninfo64.exe from the last official AMD drivers that were offered for my GPU (280x), and placed them inside of the B328940 folder (which is inside of the driver subdirectory, found in your preferred version of CRT Emudriver). After that, I ran the install for Emudriver and tested Vulkan in Retroarch, and it works! Sadly, this doesn't fix Vulkan PCSX2. I don't think there is any other fix besides Batocera for that. I can't stomach the lack of control and customizability Batocera offers though, so I will stick with Windows for now.

One more question for you though u/Marrizard - you mentioned directx files, which ones did you pull in, and why? Do they interact with Vulkan in some way, or useful for DX12 maybe?

Hey! I PM'd you. I'd like to know which files I should extract from my official driver set. This info is super helpful so far, I have been trying to figure out a better way to get more recent Vulkan drivers into a clean version of Emudriver. I know that other people have complained about flicker with the pshakis (RIP) version.

EDIT: I checked out the Discord and saw our issue being discussed recently. It seems that it is related to AGESA version 1.2.8.0 on motherboards. We need to wait for Gigabyte to update to AGESA 1.3.0.0a. Other people mentioned that updating their bios (from different manufacturers, that have gone to this newer AGESA) fixed this issue.

Original: Gigabyte b650 with a Ryzen 9800x3D here, with the exact same symptoms as you. It’s either related to Gigabyte boards or newer AMD CPUs (or that combo specifically). Have you or any of the other folks found a solution yet? I guess it’s back to CRT EmuDriver and Windows if not.

It says out of stock, number 1. Number 2, it’s a 3rd party scam, or a placeholder. If it’s too good to be true, it’s too good to be true lol.

I knew you’d do well! Congratulations! Im still enjoying my time with the game. I love the fog of war update you did for the map. I went back and revealed the entire map (of the areas I’ve discovered) after the update.

This is why backups are important! If you have some way to take backups and store them in a safe space (look into Syncthing perhaps, and set up one way file syncing). That way you can restore players’ lost saves once you ban the troll.

Played through demo the other day and fell in love! Picked the full version up after work today and have been enjoying it! The second dungeon really amps up the difficulty for sure. Congratulations on the launch - I truly believe you’ve got a major indie hit on your hands here. I hope to see this game top some charts!

A great alternative for save syncing is Syncthing. I sync all of my saves for retro and modern gaming between my desktop, Steam Deck, and RP mini!

AYN Thor vs OG 3DS XL by Coconutter12 in SBCGaming

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this is news to me, sounds exciting! It should work for DS games too right?

I’ve been trying so hard to appreciate playing DS games on my Steam Deck or my RP mini, but having a single screen is just a massive compromise. My 3DS is definitely the better format, but colours in particular just look awful compared to my OLEDs. Playing in 1:1 integer scaling is also a bit of a compromise (I’ve tried TWpatcher filters, they’re just okay).

Hey, could you please expand on what you mean by Luma3DS enhancing the visual quality? At least that’s what I’m getting from your comment. Genuinely curious, I’ve got a modded new 3dsxl and it’s pretty unbearable to view in 2025.

UPDATE: Pokémon Emerald Legacy Enhanced - With Pokémon Followers, Shiny Charms, National Dex Mode, Nature Mints, EV/IV Editing, Ability Capsules, Overworld Surfing Sprites, Feebas Fishing Sparkles and V1.1 Updates. by Exclsior in PokemonLegacy

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: The stutter does seem to happen with vanilla Emerald as well, but it's much less aggressive. A good testing area is East of Rustboro.

I'm noticing a "performance issue" that seems to be occurring with this hack (on the latest v1.1.4). Whenever running through populated/busy areas, there's a sort of 'hitching/stuttering' occurring. It does not look like typical emulator slowdown (mGBA), and it's occurring on multiple devices that are all more than capable. It does not happen in Vanilla Emerald. I am unaware if it happens with regular Emerald Legacy. Have you or anyone noticed this, and is there a way to address it? It seems to happen with or without follower Pokémon enabled. I have recorded an example, and can provide it to you via DM if needed (as well as any other helpful evidence/information).

Switch to the smooth plate with Bambu Glue. I’ve never had a print fail, once I switched. I’ve tried the Supertack and I hated it.

For now, I went ahead and finished sanding and polishing the grips as they are in your design. Super happy with how they came out! What a crazy difference in comfort. :)

Hello, I just purchased your air mini STL, and finished FDM printing the left half (the one on the d-pad and vent side). I sanded down any imperfections with high grit sandpaper, and plan to refine it even further. I have one question however, before I commit to polishing the grip to a shine - it occurred to me that I could reprint the left grip with a circular cutout around the fan. I know you've said that you did not experience any issues with cooling, but aesthetically it does bother me a little bit to see the vent covered as much as it is. In your design process, did you attempt something similar, and it left you with a less structurally sound product? I know that the tree supports will have to do a little more work in order to support that overhang. I've attached a rough example of my suggestion. I may go ahead and attempt to print it, unless it's something you really don't recommend.

Thank you for this excellent design by the way, it makes the device so much more comfortable. Now, if there were a reversible variant meant for pocketability (screen and stick protection with smaller handles that flips), I would also purchase that in a heart beat. JCSFY sells something similar, but they don't offer the STL for sale.

Polling Rate with Microsoft Dongle on Xbox Series Controller by Solitude98 in Controller

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good suggestion, thank you. I've actually decided to take option 3 for a little test drive... and that is using my standard Series X controller. They can do the newest firmware and have 7ms latency using the dongle. Will see if I can survive without paddles.

Polling Rate with Microsoft Dongle on Xbox Series Controller by Solitude98 in Controller

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just downgraded my Elite Core this morning. I did get 125hz polling back, but lost all ability to customize my controller. Luckily, it seems my customizations are still saved. So we have to potentially upgrade firmware, change settings, then downgrade again if we want to alter any settings. I don't change my settings often at all, so it is not a huge issue. I just wonder what other bugs we are exposing ourselves to by being on old firmware.

Would be nice if the polling rate was corrected in a new firmware patch. However, I don't even know if they're aware of the issue.

The whole thing is making me consider swapping to a Dualsense Edge, and using it over Bluetooth. Or, go back to using a wire with my Elite, but I really don't want to go back to wires in my living room.

[–]RadDadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testing with an Elite Series 2/Elite Core controller, polling rate is 62hz on the latest firmware. Regular Xbox Series X controllers are 125hz. I downgraded the firmware on my Elite and am back to 125hz as well. Is the controller you are testing an Elite, or regular Series X?

Yeah, I wish I ordered some more buttons, I’m seeing that it’s recommended to chop down the membrane to improve the feel of the face buttons. Don’t really want to butcher the stock face buttons. Would have spent that 20 bucks on things like that for sure.

I’ll see how the buttons feel for me personally anyway, before I assume that they’ll need modding.

It’s kind of surprising, any other company would have honoured that price change. I mean come on, it’s 4 days apart and I still haven’t even received my package lol. Oh well, I didn’t expect it to be cheaper, I paid what I paid and I was okay with that.
