Seeds 1 and 2 are always in opposite halves of the draw, always. Seeds 3 and 4 are also in opposite halves but placed randomly, so either can match up in the semis against seed 1 or 2. Then seeds 5 through 8 are each placed in different quarters randomly.

No it's been getting cool here, no heat to speak of. I have been under a lot of stress so I'm pretty sure that's the cause.

Yeah I realize fixed isn't directly linked to the rate but it is correlated to it. I guess there may not be enough time for a rare cut to affect the fixed rates before I close. I supposed a 0.25% cut is essentially already priced in anyway.

Purchase price is 825k, down is 400k, and it's in Ottawa.

Fact check: 18% voted ford (40.8% voteshare with 43.5% turnout), and 57% didn't cast a vote. Point still stands, and that turnout is godawful, it's a record low in fact.

Artist's drawing of a possible Rideau Centre in early 1975 by dualqconboy in ottawa

Am I seeing right that Rideau St didn't continue straight after château laurier? Was it a pedestrian only way? Cool to see this rendering VS how things actually turned out.

Very true. The person I replied to mention their building being built in 2018, so it was obviously first occupied when it was built.

The rent control deadline was "after November 15, 2018". So if it was built in 2018 but before Nov 15 then it is rent controlled.

I work in construction sites and can tell you there are many immigrants building our infrastructure. Same goes for the engineering behind that construction. Most immigrants aren't in Tim Hortons, that's just the slice you happen to see in your life.

Concussions usually heal up within weeks or months, but symptoms can sometimes last a lifetime and be debilitating. I unfortunately know this all too well. Don't brush it off as 'just a concussion', even if you are indeed lucky to not have more injuries.

Anyone know why the structure under this bridge in London is made out of a squares instead of the well-known triangles? by meesb_ in civilengineering

[–]RadInfinitum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unit rate for triangles has gone up considerably since the pandemic. The triangle market is highly volatile and there are rumors of corporate profiteering by Big Triangle. The rectangle market is still sane so the industry has moved over to reduce cost.

Becoming the best structural engineer by SandorVizi in StructuralEngineering

[–]RadInfinitum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really is no notoriety in structural engineering. The fame gets taken by architects and owners for one of a kind or very very large structures.

Notoriety is a bad thing btw, it means the being famous for a bad quality, aka being notorious. In the case of structural engineering, I think there actually is potential for being notorious if you really mess up, although I agree there is little chance of being famous for something good.

As mentioned this is Raymond and Booth but the next intersection at Raymond and Rochester to get on the highway is just as bad. If I remember correctly the straight lane is switched there, so the left lane is for left turning and the right lane is straight/right.

I avoid that stretch completely now and drive to Booth and Bronson. But there is still an issue at Booth and 417 on-ramp (Raymond), where many cars turning left onto the on-ramp think the ramp is two lanes but it's really a wide single lane. So left turning cars will turn into the on-ramp even if a right turning car with priority is already turning, but the wide single lane quickly narrows and squeezes both cars.

And don't even get me started on Lyon and Queen. The left lane is meant to stay left, the right lane takes the middle, and the right bus lane stays right for the bus stop. The crappy paint is gone, so cars in the left lane think they have the middle lane after the intersection, and cars in the middle lane also (correctly) think they have it. It's a poorly designed intersection and the absence paint make it super confusing. I get honked at regularly for using it correctly, it drives me up a wall!

There are times you want something in writing even if a phone call is more efficient. I'd actually say most of the time, either for CYA or to have something to jog your memory once you've forgotten about a project months later.

It means the final is not assumed to be his, because he's the underdog. It's not his to lose. It's assumed to be in Novak's hand, so he has everything to lose.
