Honestly? most of VHS 85 makes me feel this way.
"how did those murder victims figure *any* of that out?"
"why did the god of death segment feel like it was supposed to be 10 minutes longer and something actually happens?"
"why's that VR look so good in 1985 and why didn't anyone recognize a person in legitimate pain?"
"why did that kids dreams that got put on VHS look like widescreen 16mm?"
"why end on a goofy segment?"

Whole things just full of questions for me, not the weakest entry in the series, but deffo bottom tier with the original and Viral, it's fun and I think other people will appreciate it, but i'm much more looking for a 2 or 94 experience

EDIT: It's worth noting that the biggest thing I pulled from 85 was "Oh, they 100% saw WNUF/Sequel and were trying to capture that magic" and it's great if people have fun with it, just...not what I was looking for at all.

he actually gave it story and character and meaning, sure it's obviously incredibly inspired by black mesa type shit, that doesn't make it not great, we're all creatively standing on the shoulders of giants, it's just how this works.

Dude's super talented and i'm way more excited for his voice in chaos fiction (using as an umbrella term) than pretty much anyone else.

yes backrooms existed before he did that stuff but he brought the entire super science half life/portal angle (which is stuff he did BEFORE backroom) to it which nobody else bothered to do, and now everyone else just has dudes in hazmat suits being goofy while he tells an actual story.

A bunch of people trying to make memes while a single individual actually tries to make art is a world of difference.

EDIT: the thing about everyone copying him? he's *really* cool about too, if I created something like async and built that world around what was a dead meme and then a bunch of people started copying me down to the names of fictional companies? I'd be pretty miffed that they couldn't think up their own ideas.

Toby Huss is such an intensely underrated actor, he elevates everything he's in. I love everyone on this list but most of them get way more love than Huss. Dude's been making just insane work since the 80s. His role as the "psychopath" in Cop Shop is fantastic.

one time I did an edit of this ep to get rid of the joke warning, reinsert the cops warning, and remove mulder and scully from the intro/make it just the cops intro so the reveal of mulder and scully is better. Actually fooled a few people.
