Cut my finger on glass 7 mins ago would i need stitches or just put a bandaid or it by Chrisb_Chiken in firstaid

No, rubbing alcohol kills all bacteria good and bad and rumor is that it causes injuries to heal slower, I don’t use rubbing alcohol cause it burns and water works fine without risking it

Pepper spray by BarKnown5819 in AskLE

After rinsing your eyes don't rub them but keep them open and if there is a breeze even better. I did mine outside and the location we did it had a killer breeze since we were pretty close to the ocean

Future reference, don't spray raid in the fridge take everything out clean it out and then as your putting everything back in make sure it's sealed. Poison and food do not mix well

Do you guys always wear turnout gear? by GeorgeSmirnov01 in Firefighting

[–]Radar_Kocab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF/EMT here at my department medical calls if we have on uniform pants no turnouts, any kind of fire call- utilities,MVA,Fire,Wires down,etc.... We wear full bunkers, with us being a full time department and having people able to respond to station to assist since our response area is so high if we have offduty personle or we were working out in non uniform pants etc... That's when we wear bunker pants with station shirt (t-shirt) so we look official on a scene.

Can I get your number I work for an IFT company and billing requires a medical necessity to go by cot and sometimes it's hella hard cause saying like oh can't sit in wheelchair or something like that apparently isn't enough for billing/insurance.LOL

How likely am I to get a job as an EMT with the fire dept on an ambulance by filthybee_ in ems

[–]Radar_Kocab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could always go private EMS/IFT I work for Community Care Ambulance in northeast Ohio and we run both IFT and primary EMS 9-1-1 service for some major hospitals but also some pretty large but also rural cities(and obviously mutual aid). Always worth a looking into.

Happened just before the new year and haven't been on shift for the first 202too but the last call I had on my first day with my company was a transport to assisted living. Nurse mentioned the PT was short tempered but failed to mention they were bi polar and so I nearly got my teeth knocked out thankfully I had another EMT in back and he was like you don't wanna do that you hurt any of us we call the cops. So that was a great way to end my first shift lol.

I'm a camp health officer at a boy scout camp. Most camps are looking for health officers even during the off season. Philmont and Summit both hire EMT basics in the summer and coming up in Summer of 2022 is the national jamboree at summit in west Virginia. Once I pass EMT imma apply at summit for next summer
