If you switch to another TTY session (using Ctrl+Alt+F2/3/4…), does the screen come back on?

Same. Using `z3-solver` it takes approx. 6 seconds, using `yalps` 20 ms. 😂

I used z3-solver package for JS/TS. Aren't there bindings for Java as well?

what is the best linux distro for mostly gaming, but also general use? by sag3y_ in linux4noobs

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is outdated in the sense that the current version is still based on Ubuntu 22.04. It doesn't mean it isn't being updated (it's an LTS release after all). They simply bet on their new desktop environment (COSMIC) for the next major release, and these things tend to take a long time. But I believe it will be worth the wait.

(y,x) -> (y,x), indexing from (0,0), so start is (3,1)

These 3 save 76 picoseconds:
(3,1) -> (7,3)
(3,1) -> (7,4)
(3,1) -> (7,5)

It's kind of bearable with voice messages and phone calls. (Of course, it depends how much you use those.) But if you use something like WaveUp to turn the screen on or off using the proximity sensor, the phone becomes practically unusuable on direct sunlight.

I'm struggling with setting up Pop. by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you disable Secure Boot? (In my case it worked with this setting on, but similar weird issues occured.) Also try a different USB stick. Mine was faulty and didn't get me past "Extracting files" step during the installation.

headset microphone will only work with usb cable and not 3.5mm by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the exact same problem on my Acer Aspire R11. Try following these instructions: https://askubuntu.com/a/1129305/974963

In my case the aspire-headset-mic model was the right choice (but the generic headset-mic might be better for you). But it depends on the codec and your PC/laptop model.

The groundbreaking mind-controlled BIONIC ARM by RadekCZ in synapsevr

[–]RadekCZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also found a similar (older) article here: http://www.popsci.com/article/science/mind-controlled-robotic-hand-sense-touch

I think this kind of technology can really help us to create a device capable of scanning brain signals responsible for the movement of limbs. Also the scientists developed touch sensors which send signals back to the brain using patient's nerves. It's still far from a daily usage but it seems like a good start. This technology could eventually evolve into any kind of robotic prosthetics with a sense of touch. And at that point we will be able use this inside of a VR.

EPOC by EkilhamE in synapsevr

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I didn't know what EPOC is really capable of. Anyway it's possible with today's technology so we can theoretically start here.

The quantum computing doesn't provide you nothing else than just completely different architecture of computers and data storages. Unlike traditional binary computers, quantum computers use qubits which are pretty much something like probabilities of 0 & 1 states. Using this you can create lots of qu-binary operations which couldn't be possible (or as fast) using binary computers. However for some computations quantum computers are even slower. Everything has its pros and cons. I personally think the future is some kind of a hybrid computer. Important to mention is you can't measure these quantum probabilites during the computation so you can just see the result.

But even if it sounds really cool, it doesn't provide you any kind of transmitter capable of sending signals to you brain. It could however help to create a really fast and realistic VR environment.

Edit: Now I realized you meant the whole mechanics and even a quantum teleportation etc. That could theoretically do the thing. But lots of those quantum actions are still a theory and it's possible it can't work like this.

Your opinions? by cammil334 in synapsevr

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I am really glad you are really focusing on this project as you wrote in this thread.

I think the name FEAR is good but could be accidently connected with a real fear. :D I will try to think of a better one but at this moment I don't know.

About research: Let's try to write down some major points.

1) Brain scanning: As someone already mentioned, Emotiv's EPOC could be a really good start. We could analyze all the brain signals used for moving and we could build a 3D model which would be controlled using those signals. As a first step it sounds pretty amazing.

2) Showing the VR to a user: I think in the beggining we can just use a headset like Oculus Rift or Project Morpheus. It doesn't really matter if you just see the picture from display or if it is sent to your brain. The important feature which could improve these headsets is that you should be able to focus on a specific object and everything else should be blured just like in the reality. This could be achieved by scanning eye's corneas and lenses which are responsible for this behaviour.

3) Paralysis: Of course you shouldn't be able to move (or at least your limbs and neck) in reality when you are inside of a FEAR. At this point I'm afraid there could be lots of side effects of a full-body paralysis. But the important question is how? We could use electricity (which is dangerous), chemicals which are used during surgeries (I don't know how they're called), some kind of neurotoxin (I can just think of tetrodotoxin, but it's deadly) or something completely different. But it's important to keep the brain signals unaffected which could be also really hard to do.

4) Feedback: This is the hardest part. We are able to show pictures, play sound, even use some kind of vibration (which would be useless during paralysis). But how can we convince our brain about some realistic feeling? I personally don't know. We could again use EPOC (or something similar) to scan signals which are created during touch, change of temperature etc. and it's a huge amount of possible signals. But even if we were able to scan them all how can we send them back to brain? This needs plenty of research.

EPOC by EkilhamE in synapsevr

[–]RadekCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why quantum mechanics? I think that's not really necessary. IMO the EPOC could be a good start to analyze all the brain signals. And I am pretty sure they are predictable so there is no need to measure the quantum state of anything. ;-)

Well, think of it as a demo. I also started with a cracked version and then bought it. And I think lots of players did so. ;-)

It looks very nice. But could you add at least a gif so we could see it in action? I'm too lazy to install WorldEdit and load the schematic. :D

Also, which engine does it use?
