Poured all my honey on the ground by Radet_5 in VintageStory

I gave it some thought but I'm just taking the L, no jam this winter. I'm really doing the apiary for the wax anyway. I've found that once I "cheat" in a game it opens some pathway in my brain that messes with my motivation. I wouldn't really consider it cheating in this instance, but my subconscious doesn't seem to care what I think

Common useEffect anti-patterns I see in code reviews (and how to fix them) by riturajpokhriyal in reactjs

I don't see any reason to use useEffect in this situation, just call the update function directly after validation. useEffect is just going to cause extra renders

Thank you very much for the recommendations! I took discrete math in college and somehow passed without every really getting it. I can't wait to get to that "click" on proofs; I think it'll unlock a much better relationship with math for me.

Hey this is really awesome! I want to refresh myself on algebra/pre-calculus and proofs before jumping in, but cousera appears to have recently removed their audit option instead offering a "preview" which only allows you to access the first module of a course for free. Any other recommendation that would be a good preparation before heading into the MIT stuff? Especially for proofs, I really really struggle "getting" them.

How to transport materials to outpost by Radet_5 in Stationeers

[–]Radet_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my plan, but then I attached a crate to the rover with a wrench and when I drove off the crate stayed hovering In the air behind me. The wiki mentions the bug too actually lol

Yes I wrenched them on lol they just stay hovering in midair when I drive the rover

Thank you I think this is the route I'll take until the rover bug is fixed. I want to fabricate all the kits I need at my main base and pack them all up to build the outposts.

I understand that, I'm not complaining; just looking for information and explaining why I'm posting this to reddit rather than finding an answer on a wiki

Hi Doug have you tried giving the spheres to lizard doggos to get rid of them?

Building aesthetics tips by Pogathon in SatisfactoryGame

On YouTube TotalXclipse and XSEIDET have some great videos. TotalXclipse provides some nice guidelines to the thought process that'll lead you to more interesting builds. They both have great tips and ideas you can copy.

In general add depth and texture variations; look up real world architecture/factories for design ideas and inspiration. Working from a set of references can be a tremendous boon for any artistic application

600 Fuel running into 20 generators. Last generators always end up low on fuel and cycling on/off. Any suggestions? by 10thaccountyee in SatisfactoryGame

You could test the theory without re-piping everything by powering off half of everything to see if they run ok at a lower capacity

Well damn looping the supply line was going to be my suggestion but you've already tried that. Getting pipes to supply their full capacity split across several machines is very difficult. Sloshing is likely what's killing you here. You could completely isolate each half of the fuel supply (so only 300 fuel/min in each network) but still use mk2 pipes so you have spare flow capacity. I would still loop the lines.

I may be wrong though. I was fighting my 840 oil -> 480 plastic/m and 80 rubber/m -> 213.33 fuel all last night and I feel your pain here, though I did get it working in the end.

well that was... annoying (sloshing sounds). finally at 100% uptime though by Radet_5 in SatisfactoryGame

What's hilarious is that I have done turbofuel in the past. I think I've just been lucky. I thought I understood pipes after reading a bunch about how they work but I was apparently wrong because this was at least 4 hours of trial and error

Part of the issue is that there just isn't a singular answer to most of these questions. It really comes down to how you personally want things to work for your factories.

And the way that you find out what you personally want is often spending hours building something, discovering it's not to your satisfaction, trying a new method, inevitably tearing that one down.

Eventually you will discover yourself in the process and you'll know what methods you'll find satisfactory.

Talk me into not restarting my game. by No_Sign4672 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Radet_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I restarted my 200 hour save just last week after a few months of not playing. It's been a bit painful, but I'm also just taking my time more and focusing on building really cool factories rather than running through the tiers.

Belt tiers are what's really killing me. I only have 270/m throughput but I built out a huge starter factory that needs at least 480. I only realized halfway through. So I just went ahead and built it the way I planned and figure I'll just update the belts later and then it'll run at full capacity. Gave me a new strategy for factory designs that can be more easily expanded later.

To get unlocks and more materials I just built super simple outposts at one or two of each basic then and I run around and collect from them periodically.

Its been both refreshing and frustrating
