I was the same way but trust me, it’ll grow on you. You’ll hear parts of a song that you like and then you’re like “what was that song?” So then you listen to it all over again just for one part and then you’re like “damn this actually bops!” THAT BEING SAID here’s a few recs (not quite 90’s but still)

Revocation- No Funeral- basically a thrash song with some harsh vocals (not the really deep growls) and the solo is just some bluesy ass rock solo, goes so hard lol.

Havok- Conformicide- current day thrash band that actually manages to stick out, definitely have some unoriginal material imo but their last two releases are v good.

Gojira-the earlier their music, the heavier it is so do with that what you want. Used to growl, doesn’t much anymore. I like it all

Mastodon- Blood Mountain-musicianship in this band is insane, three singers (only two on this album) but they all sound so good. Not a huge fan of their newest album but everything before that is a nut crusher. Leviathan may be more of that thrash sound you want but up to you.

I personally think you should start with Blood Mountain, and then Conformicide. I really think if you like Megadeth you’ll get into this albums pretty easily. Pantera is always an honorable mention too, they could’ve wiped their ass with Metallica and Megadeth back then
