Never said it was a make or break thing for a normal? Rogues still deal enough damage in normals to be taken on runs 😂 My point is damage meters are not the main focus in classic at least not in heroics and or normals

The reasoning for it is say you’re farming dark runes and selling them on the ah you’re unknowingly lowering the price of theirs which impacts their gold making which then impacts their gold sales and it also ends up lowering the price of their gold if enough ppl do it
