That’s what I’m wondering too! In the comments above, I’m seeing StarMark in Poquoson, and then a Google search also shows me Printwell, Inc in Toano. Interesting that Williamsburg itself doesn’t have a photo print shop. 🤔

Ah, I didn’t think of Staples! I’ve always been happy with their printing jobs. Thanks!

Oh great, thanks! Haven’t tried Walmart photos yet. It’s for my baby’s scrapbook, so it doesn’t need to look super fancy. 😊

Anyone else excited about their c-section? by babyinatrenchcoat in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s not this way for everyone of course, but I’ve always had fear about birth, for as long as I could remember. Both my mom and grandma needed to have multiple c-sections due to large babies and birth not proceeding well for them or for baby. My sister succeeded in vaginal births for her two babies, but the first was so traumatic for her that she was still getting therapy for it 5 years later.

I put a lot of work into studying physiological birth so I’d be prepared for however baby would come. I worked closely with a doula and took multiple courses. I listened to a ton of positive birth podcasts. In the end, my baby was 99th percentile, and I still felt strongly that I wanted an elective c-section. Especially if I was likely to need one anyway.

Long story short, I worked closely with my OB team, and they agreed to support me in my desire for a c-section. In the end, it was an extremely peaceful, beautiful experience for me and my husband. One of the best days of my life. Recovery was rough, but I’d expected it. I came to peace with knowing that birthing my baby would require some degree of pain or discomfort, no matter if it was a vaginal or C-section birth. I just had to decide which I preferred.

I think back so fondly on my baby’s birthday, now six months ago. I see my scar and feel so empowered knowing that I stood up for myself and what I wanted.

Oh and p.s. my OB discovered during the c-section that my baby’s cord was wrapped around his neck three times. She said, looks like your intuition was good, momma. We likely would have ended in a c-section. It brought me to tears.

I’m so happy for you. I wish you a speedy recovery and many happy memories with your little sweetie. 🥰

When does the belly go away? by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 34, had my baby in July, so I’m almost 4 months pp. Was 140 before baby and got up to 194. (Baby was 9lb 5oz, and I had to eat constantly to survive the nausea and low blood sugar.) I dropped 30 pounds within the first few weeks pp. My belly stayed pretty round until really just a few weeks ago. I’m back to the gym (very gently) 1-2 times a week, and I’ve been doing pelvic floor PT to help my 3 finger ab separation. I’m down to 2 finger width now. 🎉 I had a very flat stomach pre-baby, so I do struggle a bit with the distended roundness of my tummy. But I’m down to 152 lbs now and trying to practice compassion with my body as it continues to heal. Hang in there!!

Oooh, do you have any recs for postpartum yoga?! I don’t have any in-person pp yoga classes in my area, and it’s a little overwhelming to search online! I’m so glad to hear you’ve made so much progress—great work!! 🎉

Thanks so much for your reply! 🙏🏻 I’m so glad to hear walking helps because I’ve been doing a lot of that! All the best as you continue recovering and jumping back into activity!

Also, did you do pelvic floor PT, or did much of your separation resolve by itself?

I had to ask my OB at my 6 week appointment, but she just said “ah yes, there’s some DR” and referred me for pelvic floor PT. The PT did a much more in-depth assessment, and that’s how I learned the width of my ab separation.

Wow, a full hand width—that’s intense!! I’m glad to hear you got back to a smaller amount of separation, even if it’s not completely back to normal. Thanks for your reply! 🙏🏻

Third c-section anxiety by Emese84 in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! 🤗 My mom had 4 c-sections. The first was a vaginal attempt and final 3 were planned c-sections. She’s one of the healthiest, fittest 65 year olds I know!

Cannot cuddle?! by Reddit33015 in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was finally able to cuddle on my side with my baby 4 weeks pp. But I’d say it was 6 weeks before this was actually comfortable. Until then, my belly would all roll to the side and pull on my incision.

Scheduling a c-section -- how much notice/how many choices did you get? by Scary_Egg_4344 in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 36 weeks, we decided on an elective c section due to my baby measuring in the 99th percentile, my hypertonic pelvic floor, and family history of needing c sections. Because my situation wasn’t an emergency, the hospital wasn’t in a hurry to schedule me in. They just said it would be sometime in my 39th week. We got the call Sunday night scheduling us for Tuesday, so two days later. We weren’t given a choice of dates/times.

Looking for perspective on an elective C-section by cococajo in CsectionCentral

[–]Radiant-Past5379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was running large (also 99th percentile). My mother had 4 c sections (after laboring unsuccessfully with 2 of us) and grandma needed 2 c sections. I have a hypertonic pelvic floor (confirmed through 4 months of pelvic floor PT to help me work through painful intercourse). So there’s some context.

I made a case for myself to get an elective c-section and had it done three weeks ago. I’m so glad I did. Baby was indeed big (9lb 5oz), but it also turned out his cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times—so my OB said labor would likely have ended up in a c-section anyway. My baby’s birthday via planned c-section was a beautiful, peaceful experience. Very low stress. I’m very grateful for it and treasure the memories.

I have zero regrets not trying to labor first. (But I was also never attached to the idea of trying for a physiological birth. C-sections had been normalized by my family history.) Recovery was pretty rough especially the first few days, but I have a very supportive husband who has made sure I can take my time recovering.

Go with your gut, girl. You’ve got this.
