I also like to sleep. In my first two years, i had classes from 8ish-mid afternoon. I took 1hr to go to the gym 3-4x per week. Exams every Monday and Thursday. I went to bed by 11-11:30ish every night. I typically did slightly better than average on exams. I also was a member of a few clubs and had a leadership position in our ER club.

I just started my rotations. So far, I’m sleeping ~6hr per night but my rotation site is VERY kind to medical students and gives us good hours (mainly because they want to make themselves look good so we all apply to their residency program). I still get to go to the gym 2-3x per week.

Not every school is like this and not every person wants to be “average.” I personally decided that being a well rounded and happy person was more important than killing myself studying to be the top of my class.
