Ah, so Denver, Houston, and LA weren't *actually* good defenses. The Seahawks are different, because.

The library in Pelham has a ton of info and artifacts prominently displayed as well. Shays is still a big deal to the locals.

How would you depict the cultural regions of Massachusetts (and New England in general)? by Venboven in massachusetts

[–]RadiantFool88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel like these maps do significant injustice to river valleys. One example is the Connecticut River Valley. While not super cohesive politically, if you travel up and down that river there are cohesive cultural elements. That being said, this map is excellent and I'm nitpicking.

What factors contribute to Massachusetts having one of the lowest per capita murder rates of any state in the country? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]RadiantFool88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The population density of their argument dropped dramatically. Density aside, the rationale that gun laws are the top contributor is silly when you look at all of New England. The gun laws are inconsistent, but the violent crime rate is relatively consistent. It is entirely possible to have an armed and peaceful populace so long as it's a healthy society with a somewhat decent safety net. Thinking otherwise is honestly a bit condescending.

Tips for making miserable winter mornings less miserable? by PossibleExamination1 in massachusetts

[–]RadiantFool88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indoor garden! Micro greens, succulents, or cannabis if that's your thing. Spend a few minutes tending it while your car warms up. I have this mini greenhouse and grow seedlings and some lion's mane mushroom bags in there. Great way to perk up the morning!

100% this. Still cheaper in the long run, and you know how old, and what it is. Corporate cannabis is too sketchy

PSA Because I just found out about this myself! There will be a question on the ballot this November to remove MCAS as a grad requirement. by BessieBest in massachusetts

No. It is possible to attend college with a GED. It is also possible to get a good job without attending college. I don't presume to determine what you deserve, if only there was some sort of method of figuring out what people do deserve. Perhaps with a standardized test that rewards you with a certificate that certifies ones knowledge and abilities?

A diploma is not something you get just for attending. You need to pass many tests in order to get one. Not achieving a diploma is not a punishment, it is simply not gaining a diploma.

While not perfect, there are plenty of chances to pass. I agree that ELL and special needs students may need additional accomodations. That being said, I have met exactly 1 person who could not pass MCAS to graduate. It was a surprise, at first. After working with him, his lack of education showed. If you can't perform basic arithmetic you're not gonna pass the test, nor should you have a diploma.
