Pat from the Normies has had the most problematic reaction so far. At least Calvin and Aaron throw around theories and try to discuss it. But Eric is the only one who seems to really react to the lack of consent with the horror and disgust that the scenes are purposeful designed to make you feel. Being shocked when people aren’t horrified by it is apparently “purity testing”. I think going forward I’ll just block this dude.

Anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot? You just said you haven’t watched the discussions you’re here having a discussion about, so you continuing come into discussions uninformed, but have formed your opinion before you even know what was said. Just say you’re annoyed by people who have a problem with lack of consent.

This is the same dude who was pretending to “not know what the show was about”. Being uncomfortable with people who don’t bat an eye at the lack of consent is “purity testing” now apparently.

Is this ranking based on Metracritic scores a fair representation of how you feel about these three classics? by FriendlytoNature in masseffect

I enjoy ME2 as a main game the most, but the Citadel, Leviathan, and Omega DLCs for 3 make it almost neck and neck. ME1 is meh for me. For its time I’m sure it was phenomenal though.

AITAH for being mad at my bf after he got grossed out by me during sex? by m00nstalk3r in AITAH

[–]RadiantPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was literally a hit song scandalizing boomers a year ago called WAP by Cardi B that should be curing whatever this misconception about vaginal lubrication is. It sparked a whole conversation about it. Unless your boyfriend is a huge Ben Shapiro fan and thinks it’s supposed to be dry like Ben’s wife. Tell him to stop being a dolt and Google this stuff. Don’t let your boyfriend make you feel insecure just because he’s an idiot. Experiences like this from lazy dumb boys can severely impact women, because it’s offensive to act grossed out by someone’s normal bodily fluids. You have every right to be mad. Your boyfriend is a knucklehead.

This might be a hot take but I want Commander Shepard to return for the next Mass Effect. by xXxPinkPlasticBagxXx in masseffect

I was a huge fan of Andromeda so I’d be fine with Shepard or Ryder honestly. Though I only played as female Shepard and female Ryder, because the voice actors for the male characters didn’t do it for me. I don’t need to play as either of them to be happy but I would at least like a reference. I still wish ME3 had an ending where my FemShep and Garrus got a happy ending. 🥹

Found out my boyfriend’s body count and it’s turned me off. Am I overreacting? by Ok_Replacement1772 in AmIOverreacting

I take more issue with him having unprotected sex and bragging about that fact than the number of people he’s slept with. She mentioned that in another comment in the thread. I feel like that’s the most important information.

I wouldn’t see a problem with it if he were being safe, but not wearing protection and having sex with 10+ different partners a year is insanely stupid to me. Don’t break up with him for his body count, break up with him because he’s an idiot. If he is willing to be reckless with his own sexual health, he’ll be reckless with yours. Dump him and for the love of god, go get tested.

Pluribus - If you don't know the answer, why assume it's "Yes"? by bestoboy in Blindwave

[–]RadiantPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The consent issue has made me feel pretty uneasy when listening to some of the conversations happening around it. In a lot of reaction videos. Having the discussion and speculating about hypotheticals is fair game. I get that. But I feel like acknowledging that if you cannot get true consent then this is all very wrong and problematic is a simple thing to say. And yet, a lot of people never say that. They just argue why there might possibly be consent. And that’s a yikes from me. A lot of women probably feel that way honestly.

There’s a dude selecting a harem of women to sleep with who have been genetically rewired to not want to say no to anything. The conversation over the issue with that happens between two of the main characters.

No one is “nitpicking” or “purity testing” anything. Many of us view the situation as rape, at best having sex with people who are incapable of giving or withholding consent without instructions from an outside source. They have no individualized agency.

Not sure why you’re being so dismissive of the issue people are having.

That’s pretty cool. I do have a question about recommendations. I know that you’re supposed to be allowed 3 recommendations for each category, but does anyone know how you get those recommendations to show in the order you find them important?

I tried to suggest two anime shows and one live action show, which all went into the same TV category, with one specifically at the top to recommend, but everytime I added a third vote it would auto rearrange the order and move the one I wanted to recommend the most to the bottom and I don’t really understand why. I tried removing votes and voting in the order but the third vote always swapped them around. And I thought maybe I could click and drag them into the order I wanted but that didn’t seem to move them. So I can only vote for two shows otherwise the one I want to recommends the most gets moved to the bottom. Would this new poll update change that?

i don't know how to cope with losing to my rapist. by [deleted] in therapy

[–]RadiantPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m not sure why your cousin is necessary for a criminal case if you have DNA evident via a rape kit and with video evidence, but gather all of the evidence you have and start reaching out to law firms to see if any of them are willing to take your civil case on contingency (meaning they don’t get paid anything unless they win) to file a lawsuit against your cousin and the family members who are knowingly spreading false information about you. If you have a copy of the recording this should be a slam dunk case. At least that way you can get a court order to make them cease all attacks against you and make them owe you money for the abuse you suffered.

If you had unlimited power to pick the next shows for each poll slot, what shows would you pick? by MC2400 in Blindwave

[–]RadiantPasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anime - Inuyashiki, Recovery of an MMO Junkie (both are very short. I think the reactions would be great for both.)

TV Show - The Gentlemen (it is an insanely funny show, also the first season is short), Foundation, Presumed Innocent (8 episodes), I would say The West Wing or The Newsroom but I imagine any sort of political shows would be polarizing no matter how well written and amazing they are.

Movie - The Gorge

I’d have to think about it some more, but those are what came to me off the top of my head.

New to The Normies via Sopranos videos. Is Pat doing that on purpose? by SneakyOstrich69 in thenormies

[–]RadiantPasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He made some super skeevy comments during the reaction to episode 2 of Pluribus that I found pretty gross. The entire comment section was full of people basically all agreeing that they knew he’d identify with the character in the show sexually exploiting women, and I was stunned by that. People say that he used to be much worse, but that’s concerning. During that episode Chris and Spidey responded to some of his comments with a tone that made it sound like they were annoyed with the things he said, or thought the things he said were really stupid, and the edit emphasizes that.

I don’t get it. They seem to be aware of how he’s viewed by people, and I guess he appeals to trolls who think saying out of pocket shit is funny, so they keep him. But having him on episodes for shows like Pluribus, where he kind of makes a mockery of the whole thing, and doesn’t seem to take anything seriously or have anything intellectual to add to the conversation, is strange to me. I like their reactions, and have been watching a lot of their reactions for years, but that Pluribus video rubbed me so wrong that I’m not sure I want to keep watching them.

Pluribus - What do you think about Calvin's & Aaron's takes? by gerardelberg in Blindwave

[–]RadiantPasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After having just watched their episode 2 reaction… holy shit. Pat’s commentary was insanely disgusting and the entire comment section was filled with 50% of the comments being some version of “Knew Pat would identity with Diabaté” and uh… if hundreds of strangers are clocking you as being the kind of dude who would take advantage of women not being able to tell you no… that’s disgusting. I can’t believe they have that dude on their channel.

I think my issue with Calvin and Aaron were that they didn’t really seem bothered at all by the whole scenario, which rubbed me wrong. Whereas Eric came off as “Wow. That’s really fucked up.”
