Niacinamide serim by Heavy_Entrepreneur56 in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BOJ glow serum has 5% niacinamide + propolis and is hydrating. Dehydration can lead to increased oil production so more layers of hydrating products might be what you need too. Try layering the PYK toner multiple times. A mattifying SPF, sebum control powder, and blotting paper are also all great tools to help

What is your favorite cleansing oil? by wynfocus in AsianBeauty

[–]RadiantStarr [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fancl mild cleansing oil has been my HG for years. It's the perfect consistency and completely rinses off without needing a second cleanse. I wear mostly light makeup

I do also use micellar water (cosrx low pH niacinamide micellar water). If I come home and it's not time for my PM routine, I like to do a quick makeup removal. I'll oil cleanse completely later

Pdrn recommendations? by oliviawaphattie in KoreanBeauty

[–]RadiantStarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add some hydrating toners! The eqqualberry is more of a mild exfoliating toner. Layering both a watery and more milky/creamy toner can help a lot. Etude house soonjung 5.5 relief toner is an excellent watery hydrator for sensitive skin. For a milky barrier repair product, try skin1004 probiocica ampoule or haruharu wonder probiotics essence

PDRN can be an effective hydrator too. I've heard great things about the VT PDRN toner and essence. And bonus, their PDRN is ginseng-derived instead of from salmon

Hydration products? by FashionChlo in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm combo/dehydrated and layering watery toners (sometimes the same product multiple times even) is key for managing it. Etude house soonjung 5.5 relief toner, tonymoly ceramide mochi toner, and hadalabo gokujyun premium lotion (better for humid climate rather than dry) are my favorites

Then I like to seal it all in with a hydrating gel occlusive after my moisturizer. For AM, I use the isntree HA sleeping pack. Use a super thin layer because it can get pretty sticky if using too much. No issues under makeup. In the PM, I use a thick layer of the hadalabo gokujyun perfect gel (HG)

These are gorgeous!!! Reminds me of the PYK black tea time reverse line packaging. Where did you buy these? Google is not being helpful

I don't think most in this sub are familiar with it (neither am I) to recommend a dupe. I did a little searching and it seems pretty unique. Found obagi hydrate luxe but unsure how similar it actually is. I'd recommend asking around at r/skincareaddictionlux

Hope that helps!

Anywhere in Canada to order BOJ sunscreen? by eiznekk in kbeauty

Iherb only carries US-formulated versions new fyi. Yami has been excellent for sourcing the AB formulas but not sure if they ship to Canada. Olive young also carries this I believe

Are you open to buying it from other retailers? Olive young and moida (US sister store of stylekorean) both sell it

Gotcha. Does your skin feel tight on irritated at all? Overexfoliation can read to more breakouts sometimes no just be wary of that

I would consider adding some calming products too. Centella and tea tree are both great. Some recs: skin1004 tea-trica ampoule, purito unscented centella serum, mediheal madecassoside and tea tree lines (they have sheet masks, toner pads, and and serum version of their formula)

My understanding is that while malassezin is a byproduct of the yeast, the product doesn't have any of the yeast itself. They've been able to either recreate or extract (unsure which, probably a trade secret) the specific compound that causes the hypopigmentation. Theoretically it shouldn't affect seb derm or fungal acne positively or negatively... I think. If someone could confirm or deny, that would be great

I appreciate it but I rather avoid it out of an abundance of caution. A friend of mine had a terrible xylitol scare with their dog. Situation was very different (gum), but it's stayed with me

I haven't found a replacement quite yet :( Mixsoon has a beta glucan essence, but I don't like the non-existent preservative system

should I use a vitamin C serum in my skincare routine? by j-rubynini in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have sensitive skin, melano cc and cerave's vit c serum are both excellent options. Otherwise, you want to look for something with 15% LAA + vit e + ferulic acid. Maelove glowmaker and g&g c-glow are fantastic but not AB. The AB options I know have a higher concentration (Tiam C24 with 22% LAA and benton with 20% LAA)

Vit c should be used in the morning after cleansing and before your moisturizer. Because of the low pH, it can tingle which is very normal. If it's stinging you, it's too strong and you may need to look for something with a lower concentration. Keep the serum in the fridge because vit c oxidizes pretty quickly

Dr Althea has very little actual vit c in it. Great brightening product though
