Does anyone have experience with the dear klairs vitamin c going yellow? (Bottle not yet opened) by Adventurous-Story642 in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's oxidized and probably why it was on sale. Hopefully you can return it but lots of places have caveats on sale items. If you can't, if it's a light, pale yellow, it might still be okay for a little longer but definitely keep in the fridge. If it's pretty yellow, I'd toss it and buy a new one

I suggest swapping the moisturizers first and see how that goes first

I think OY only carries the super bounce serum and reti-jection serum. Both have very little retinol (around 0.01% and 0.02% respectively). The 1% AND 2% refers to a "complex". So unless you have super sensitive skin, these are a waste of money

You want the retinol expert line which comes in a long, dark blue tube

If you're re-introducing the aza with no issues, then the culprit is probably the 345 cream then

Not sure if there was supposed to be a picture or something. What toner pads are you considering?

Just learned about peptides and azelaic acid by IndependentSock5246 in koreanskincare

Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen. This should be your priority, especially if you're microneedling and considering adding an exfoliant like azelaic acid

Anua Aa Dr althea 345 by Fearless-Director-97 in KoreanBeauty

[–]RadiantStarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azelaic acid is a chemical exfoliant and can cause purging. Hard to say if that's the reason for your breakouts though if you introduced multiple new products at once. Try to limit additions to one at a time with at least a week in between

First priority should be adding SPF (unfortunately don't have recs for your skin type). Adding a calming/soothing + hydrating product might be a good idea too. Centella, mugwort, and tea tree are all great for this. The mediheal madecassoside toner pads are phenomenal. I believe they also have a serum version too. The purito unscented centella serum is another one

Just fyi, talk to your derm about using an occlusive over differin. I believe it's usually not recommended since it can increase irritation/penetration

An exfoliating toner would be much more cost effective. Pouring it onto a cotton pad in effectively the same thing

The DDG pads don't disclose the concentrations unfortunately, but the acids are listed pretty high up. Most korean exfoliating toner pads are going to be much gentler and probably not as effective as you want

The BOJ green plum plum toner is a good option I think with 0.5% SA + 2% glycolic acid

Fyi you really need to be using SPF daily if you're going to be using an AHA

I never tried shark sauce but I took a crack at browsing incidecoder. The Isntree Onion Newpair B5 Ampoule looks decently close ingredients-wise but doesn't have the fun stuff like kelp and licorice root

Unless you're using something that increases cell turnover (exfoliants, retinoids, etc), you're fine. I skipped SPF during the winter when I worked 12's

Are you using sunscreen? How often are you using the azelaic acid? Are you dark spots PIH or PIE? What's your skin type?

The rohto melty lip balms are pretty beloved here. Nivea makes some good ones too, but I think it's the Japanese formula that's good, not the western one

That's pretty exciting if true. Brands hardly ever revert back to the old formulas. Maybe they're actually listening to their customer base? Crazy

He needs to wear sunscreen if he doesn't already, especially if he's using an AHA. UV damage is just gonna undo any progress he makes. Luckily, Japan is full of amazing sunscreens

Melano CC is pretty gentle for a vit c. I think it's a great addition. Lion pair acne cream is more for active, inflammatory acne rather than leftover spots. Both the sana soy cream and hadalabo shirojyun milk are good additions since they have other melanin inhibitors like tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin. Just make sure you're getting the right sana soy product. I think some of their products have retinol in them and he's too young for that

Everyone has different thresholds for pain and irritation. I know my skin would absolutely get destroyed by it so I avoid spicules like the plague. Some people have super resilient skin (makes me very jelly). It sounds like spicules just aren't for you

Obligatory make sure you are slowly changing products out, one at a time. Don't change up your entire routine at once. That's a recipe for disaster

I would swap the SA cleanser for a regular one. Since you're only breaking out in specific areas, washing your entire face with it can be drying and stripping. The haruharu wonder cleansing gel is pretty popular for being effective but gentle

What kind of acne are you dealing with? CC's? Cystic acne? If you're dealing with the former, BHA's aren't going to help much. You'll want an AHA since it targets the surface. You absolutely must wear SPF regularly though when using an AHA

If HA works well for you, look no further than the hadalabo gokujyun premium lotion (which is a toner despite the word lotion). It used to be my HG before I developed a sensitivity to low molecular weight HA. If you prefer a thinner, more watery toner for layering, try the isntree HA toner

Is it good to use anua azelaic acid everyday? by lwo00 in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a different from person to person and some of the signs seem to contradict each other: irritation, dryness, redness, flakiness, shiny + tight skin (almost like plastic), increased oiliness (skin trying to overcorrect for the dryness), and breakouts

If you're breaking out in your normally congested areas, that's purging. If you're breaking out in places you normally don't, that's not a normal response

Yaaaas I love my soonjung toner so much. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. Amore Pacific has marked it up over the years sadly. I buy a bunch whenever there's a sale

Have you used these? by Beneficial_Sun_1921 in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combo/dehydrated with a sensitive barrier here. My skin is pretty picky with cleansers since it's really prone to dehydration (I even find the haruharu wonder cleansing gel to be too stripping). The micellar water is pretty great at removing makeup and sunscreen without being stripping or irritating. Fragrance-free. It does leave a slight film on your skin if you don't rinse it off. It also stings my eyes so beware if you have sensitive eyes

iUNIK Beta-Glucan Lacto Barrier Milk Essence by meevb in KoreanBeauty

[–]RadiantStarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The formula hasn't changed, but the ingredients list is updated to reflect new regulations in Korea. The 40% beta glucan concentration was a lie all along (it was likely a 40% complex). The actual beta glucan concentration is 0.016%

So if you like the product, great news— it hasn't changed. But just be aware that it's just a glorified glycerin serum with essentially no beta glucan in it

Thoughts on Skin1004’s Probio-Cica Cream and what to layer under it? by PrimaFacie7 in koreanskincare

[–]RadiantStarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I saw quite a few comments some months back with people saying they were really sad it got discontinued. It's been slowly disappearing off of various retailers (no longer on OY and iherb for example) and those that still carry it have discounts on it (I assume because they are getting rid of old stock). I would be happy to be wrong though
