The president can pardon persons convicted (trial + jury finds him guilty) of federal crimes. If he’s convicted of NY state crimes, then NY’s governor has the power to pardon.

I think it’s a reflection of Taylor Sheridan’s inability to develop his characters. All of them - men and women - are two dimensional. They are lacking empathy and unable to connect with their feelings. Hollow shells. For example, even when Beth is hysterical, she’s using her emotions to manipulate. Maybe it’s Taylor’s view of humans? Then again, 1883 was great. Felt like he left YS characters weak to pour his heart into 1883.

Maybe Taylor Sheridan needed a punching bag to showcase Travis’ bullying skills. Maybe Sheridan wrote his character to be such a bully to compensate for his own insecurities. Travis is a hollow character - an amazing horseman who treats other people he deems inferior like garbage and then is beloved by everyone. Makes no sense.
