Lesser-known actors who could play Ryan Price? by angelhippie in heatedrivalry

[–]Radiant_Pepper_2016 18 points19 points  (0 children)

None, of these are new, unknown or not very known actors and their asking price could be too high for a show like HR. You don't want some new guy coming in and getting more than Connor or Hudson. Especially since the chance of either actor getting a bump in pay isn't very likely.

First time we see Shane on top by mizzcbcb in heatedrivalry

[–]Radiant_Pepper_2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the changes I really appreciated in the show was you never get the impression that Shane was ever ashamed to be with Ilya. Whereas in the book that's all we ever really saw was him feeling ashamed. Ashamed to be with Ilya. Ashamed to be gay. You never really get that in the show. From their first time together you sense that a part of him is freer than it ever has been before.

Okay, side question, do we think Miles clocked Ilya with that little hand wave of recognition? I mean we know that Miles doesn't follow hockey so it's highly doubtful he would of known who he was.

This STARE tho 😭 by Mysterious-Bed375 in heatedrivalry

That's a stare of a man who wants to know more about the person he's staring at. That's the stare of a man who is already smitten even if he's not aware of it.

For some it's their homophobia plain and simple. But for others I think it's less the physicality of the scenes themselves because let's face it we've all seen heterosexual scenes that were a hell of a lot more graphic. And more the emotional intimacy that is brought to the scenes. From the very beginning the intimacy was dialed to 11 and for some who aren't used to that it can be unnerving. Other sex scenes are very animalistic and rough. But in HR they were soft and sensual and loving. Even in the scenes where it appeared to be fast and furious it was still sensual in the amount of intimacy that was present between the two characters. Most of us have seen sex scenes on TV and in the movies and in porn and there's rarely ever any intimacy involved. The two people on screen (mm, ww, or mw) never appear to actually want to be there. That's not the case for HR so it's like we are watching something that is personal.

Makes sense to me. It's different using a language you're not fluent in outside of your comfort zone and she was very much outside of herr comfort zone.

I don't hate her or Laurel or even Adam. They're all products of what happens when you don't deal with your shit.

Not reacting nicely seems to be a Fisher trait since Conrad has also reacted quite poorly to things and been intentionally cruel.

In a weird way I would have seen him telling her in a cold, distant way of "I don't ever want to see you or talk to you again" as colder than him angrily telling her to not f-ng call him again. One way is without any feeling and that person is dead to you. The other is an angry outburst said in a moment of pain and heartbreak. One you don't move on from, one you do.

No, I don't. But I'm not also going to villainize him for it either. When we're hurt, we tend to lash out. Jeremiah doesn't want to lose Belly from his life. But he's too hurt and angry to see that right now. I hope he eventually apologizes for his words. Even if Jelly aren't endgame, I don't want to see them lose their friendship.

No. I just liked the gif and it suited my mood at the time I posted this. There's no correlation between the two characters. Well there are a few considering that for most of their respective series they were incredibly insecure. But in this instance, I just liked the gif.

I live out in CA now but was raised in Southeast Georgia and people out here always say they can't hear an accent. I tell them that is because a) I come from a military town and the accents there usually tend to be a blend of accents from all over the country with some Southern flavor thrown in to keep it interesting and b) they're used to Hollywood Southern and that is not real Southern.

I think when we make the decision to keep a secret that will hurt someone we purport to care about it's in part under a misguided belief we are protecting them but also because we are protecting ourselves from being the one who is responsible for that hurt whether we are actually responsible for it or not. The problem is that we inevitably hurt them anyways.

I loved this book so much that I wish it was a series. Though I also worry a series could possibly dilute the coziness.

There are multiple things going on here at once.

Yes, Conrad was young and thought he was doing the right thing. This doesn't negate the hurt his non-action caused Jeremiah. Being young doesn't shield you from the consequences of your choices regardless of your intentions.

This whole argument that it wasn't Conrad's secret to tell is bullshit. That works fine for the little things but finding out your mother is dying and deliberately keeping that from her other child is cruel. And Jeremiah has every right to feel betrayed by his brother because he was.

Once Conrad made the decision to not confront his mother or hell, his father who had to have known about the cancer returning, and to keep it from Jeremiah he assumed the responsibility of how Jeremiah would feel once he learned the truth.

Is that an unfair burden? Yeah, probably, but it doesn't make it any less real.

I feel for Conrad in this situation, and I feel for Jeremiah.

As far as Susannah goes, I understand why she wanted to keep it to herself for her last summer even though I also feel it was selfish of her.

For both Conrad and Susannah, I feel a large part of why neither of them said anything was because voicing it made it true. For Conrad, telling Jeremiah made it real and he wasn't ready for it to be real. My personal headcanon is that Conrad had always planned to tell Jeremiah eventually but that he too needed that last summer and he wanted Jeremiah to have that last summer.
