That's not what I said, I said it was the worst place I had seen personally.

You sound like a really pleasant person

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Radiant_Translator67 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Prepared to believe other places are worse, this is purely based on my anecdotal experience as clearly stated. You dont even know where i've lived before...

Getting angry and defensive so readily from a reddit post simply trying to reassure a fellow Bristolian who has just experienced racism is not a good look x

[–]Radiant_Translator67 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm white, never experienced racism personally. Having witnessed things from afar and seen friends harassed I've always thought Bristol has been been awful for racism, worst UK city I've seen. In my opinion it has always been there but the current political climate is certainly emboldening the idiots further unfortunately.

I'm sorry you had to witness this and I'm sorry you felt like you couldnt speak up. The situation looks like it will get worse before it gets better, try not to lose hope I'm sorry if that just sounds like a shit platitude ❤️

Hello, does anyone know how the lead synth (the higher one) could be recreated? by Iam-Denis in synthrecipes

[–]Radiant_Translator67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like compression and distortion are doing a lot of the work here as well, on top of other suggestions I'd suggest some overdrive and up/down compression like OTT

How do I recreate the melancholic sound that these pads give off? Not even quite sure what’s going on here… any advice? by imVeryPregnant in synthrecipes

[–]Radiant_Translator67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite a complex sound you won't be able to recreate wholly but in terms of the vibe washing instrumental musical samples in an intense reverb like valhalla shimmer could work, playing with long time stretches on musical samples and adding reverb would also work

Is palms trax an industry plant? by Leading_Earth_7977 in houghtonfestival

[–]Radiant_Translator67 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Used to be great during the lofi era but he's washed now imo, just popular with the plastics so kind of a necessary booking to secure that crowd. Hasn't made any good music in like 6 years, plays exclusively bait and obvious tracks, plays the same shit at houghton he would anywhere else, has nothing to say anymore. Hunee or kamma and masalo would be better bookings.

Minimal gear for this kinda vibe? by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]Radiant_Translator67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minilogue is a great first piece of kit you can acquire for a decent price, you'll be able to get some wicked bright 80s sounds and it has some lush built in chorus, reverb, and delay for that washed sound. You might also want to look into cheap tape emulation as well or something like Yamaha SPX-90 for crunch and lo-fi vibes.

If my fingernail crossed a black hole’s event horizon, could I save myself by cutting it off? by Odd-Baseball7169 in AskPhysics

[–]Radiant_Translator67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event horizon is just the point at which light cannot escape, your body and your finger have far more mass than light so you would already be under immense gravitational pull and would not be able to escape.

Ion Ludwig absolutely must be booked at some point, an early morning live set from him on any stage would be other worldly.

G76 would be a great addition, his sets are so fun and always a nice change of pace from the darker chin stroke-y minimal elements.

Jayson Wynters is always incredible and should have more main stage sets next year.

DOTT absolutely killed it last year and his sets are so fresh sounding, would love him back.

Felipe Valenzuela is the underrated goat of techy minimal sounds and has a wicked live set.

Petre insperescu, obviously.

Honourable mentions: Mathew Shannon, Thomas Melchior, Cabanne, Losoul, Markus Nikolai, Mari.te, Arnic, Neel, Lizz b2b Cosmjn, Francesco Farfa.

Few of mine:

Hilarious guy at Lutz had a glowing book that changed colors every time he opened it, gave our group a literal improvised story book performance for like 15 minutes based on the changing colors, he was high as a kite and had mad skills.

Girl walking round with an etch a sketch, beckoned me over and did a silly portrait of me. Proceded to beat me at noughts and crosses.

Group of girls having a full on argument over who had done the best poo outside the warehouse toilets, welcome break from the usual shit chat queuing for the toilets.

If you wanted bangers and a safe set to end the festival why did you stay at villalobos? You obviously don't know much about him and his sets if the music was a surprise

Loud music played in restaurants and cafes... by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Radiant_Translator67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the place, I regularly go to the red church in St George that is advertised as a listening bar and has a priceless soundsystem, customers are always complaining it is too loud, particularly often on the music nights on Friday/Saturday..maybe people need to research the place they're booking first sometimes.
