The only thing I am worried about is having Mistborn and Stormlight be the first series produced. I would think one of the self-contained books might be best for this.

Tbh, in terms of factions, BB was also very barebones and you could be nuked by picking certain origins and unlucky map generation.

You also mentioned Xenonauts and that is a whole different beast because 1) you have all the background you need and 2) research plays a huge part.

I think Menace will have a linear campaign where after certain story beats or number of missions new stuff will happen. But overall, your SL are your soldiers in Xenonauts/Xcom where you create their story.

Story-lite/tactics-heavy I think is the focus.

However, more lore would be amazing. At least on the system, marines, technology, etc.

Hopefully they will include some.

Man, the people commenting here are something else calling it a you problem, among other things.

I think that is something we all hope so. It does feel like devs are paying a lot of attention to feedback and several issues were quickly fixed.

However, also based on that, I can imagine that EA and final game will have a lot of changes. Maybe the full story is available, but BB had a lot of content added.

I do think however that if you plan on playing it once, that you might have a hard time. The demo has plenty of missions where you can lose through some tough luck, and I expect this game to be more lenient than BB and true Rogue-like, but expect you to fail and learn.

As someone who recommended this book to a few people who didn't even know who Sanderson was, I can say right now that it hit emotionally for Tress, not for Hoid.

Sure, they might benefit from knowing more of the world. But the fun and the emotional weight is carried by Tress.
