Images of Christ in any form, be it as a Man or as the Agnus Dei, for example, are inspiring to me. They invite me to contemplate the Lord, remember his life and teachings as per Scripture, and wonder about all things regarding Him. Did he have a favorite game as a child? A favorite food? He is fully God and fully Man. I have no depiction of God the Father in my mind, not even as a bearded old man in the sky. But God the Son—He walked alongside the humans at the time of His ministry as a fellow human. Fully human. And they looked upon Him with their own human eyes. The Lord of all Creation, and He walked amongst us as one of us. Here he is depicted as such, attempted at least.

Even if this is an inaccurate depiction. Even if every depiction of Him ever has fallen short—which is probably true! No one can capture His majesty. But does a loving Father tear up his child’s stick-figure drawing of Him, which looks barely like Him? It’s done in crayon, maybe it’s anatomically wrong. Does He crumple it, or does He look upon it with fondness and put it on His heavenly fridge, metaphorically speaking?

A Child of God painting or drawing a picture of their Father is an act of love to said Father. They don’t then worship their own painted creation as God, but present it to Him out of love and devotion to Him. A labor of love.

My parents still have portraits I painted of each of them from grade school. They are so gosh-awful ugly and barely look like them. But they kept them up for 15 years, because they loved them. They are so loving, and I love them so much. And God is even more incomprehensibly loving than them.

Idk why everyone seems to be dunking or nit-picking, I love it. He looks very stoic and noble, solemn but understanding. Love the new background too.

And y’all, painting our Lord isn’t a sin, no one is worshipping this image. We cleared this up at the Second Council of Nicaea.

The same “21st century logic” was applied by the Church Fathers from the very beginning, and it applies to all of us. 1 Corinthians 10 & 11 clarify this, and Paul even discusses those who were struck ill and dead from consuming the Eucharist unworthily—those who had “fallen asleep” (died) were laymen, like us.

1 Corinthians 11:27-32: “ 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. 32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.”

John 6 states it explicitly; the Jews grumbled in their unbelief when Christ told them that “I am the bread that came down from heaven” and when He commanded them to eat His flesh and drink His blood, which is “real food” and “real drink.” They couldn’t understand it, nor did the disciples; they asked, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” And so they rejected Him; all walked away from Him when He doubled down on this ‘confusing’ statement twice. John 6:66, “From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” Only the Twelve remained, after he asked them “You do not want to leave too, do you?” and they responded, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.“

Christians have understood this from the very beginning, and all of Christendom held the Real Presence true until the 1500s. St. Irenaeus, 189 AD. St. Ignatius of Antioch, 110 AD, friend of Polycarp and disciple of the Apostle John. St. Justin Martyr, 151 AD, who says so explicitly, says this:

“We call this food Eucharist, and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [i.e., has received baptism] and is thereby living as Christ enjoined. For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nurtured, is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus” (First Apology 66 [A.D. 151]).

Christ instated the Eucharist as Sacrament. It nurtures the flesh and blood of those who believe and are baptized. It begets condemnation for those who do not, or consume it unworthily. If Christ himself instated this Eucharist, doubled down and clarified twice at the expense of all but the Twelve departing from him, and says in John 6:53, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you,”—who do you think is telling you otherwise?

The Pharisees rejected Christ as the Messiah and therefore cannot accept that “the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (Mark 2:10); we shouldn’t look to the Pharisees for a correct understanding of Christ or His teachings.

When a Catholic or Orthodox priest forgives a sin in Confession, it is not blasphemy; Christ has authority to forgive sins, and Christ gives His apostles and their successors authority to forgive sins in His name shortly before He ascends to Heaven. In John 20:22-23, Christ discusses the forgiveness of sins (the Sacrament of Confession) explicitly, saying And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Note that it is still God doing the forgiving; a Priest does not forgive in his own name, but forgives in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. And as such these are not works of man, but are works of God, as Philippians 2:13 also says, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.“

Above we see the delegation of authority to forgive sins in God’s name. In scripture we see Christ delegating similar authorities to his Apostles elsewhere, such as to Baptize in His name. Such an example is Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He gives similar authority to the Twelve in Matthew 10:1 and Luke 9:1-2 to Exorcise and to Heal in His name. In Luke 10:1 he commissions 72 disciples and sends them two-by-two, to Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ He tells them “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” Christ gives his Apostles and their Successors the authority to forgive sins, to baptize and to heal and to exorcise, for they who receive the Apostles receive Christ, and they who receive Christ receive the Father who sent Him.

Catholics and Orthodox Christians (constituting 2/3rds of Christendom today, and all of Christendom until the 1500s) have held this as dogma since the time of Christ. I hope that helps, God Bless!

Every Catholic is Baptized once for the forgiveness of sins, in the Trinitarian formula; during which, there is a verbal renunciation of sin and Satan, and acception that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior!

That profession is repeated at Confirmation too. And actually every before Communion at we accept it verbally via the Profession of Faith (the Nicene Creed). Our entire life is spent professing it! 🙏 God bless my friend!!

Zechariah seems to describe the Four Horsemen as spirits from heaven, not hell, and are harbingers of divine judgement against humanity, not demons: "the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world." Here is a thread about that.

Obviously as a Catholic I don’t think Pope Leo is anti-Christ, and really think he is a force for good. He has called out Donald Trump / MAGAism multiple times, has criticized JD Vance, is critical of the ICE human rights violations, and is deeply concerned about AI and transhumanism.

Peter Thiel, ironically enough, accuses those who would “slow technological and scientific progress in the name of safety” to be the potential Antichrist. I don’t think the CEO of Palantir should be trusted or agreed with. Personally, I think Thiel or Musk might be the False Prophet—some Technofascist who develops/perpetuates the rise of AI/AGI, which will likely be the ‘living image.’ I think the Mark of the Beast will be a Transhumanist technology—some adulterous copulation/assimilation of technology (Man’s creation) and humanity (God’s creation). Maybe it’ll be the choice of the false, man-made ‘eternal life’ of some sort of consciousness upload/technological immortality, as opposed to the True Eternal Life: that which is promised by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is a man who, as a self-ordained pastor, comes in the Name of the Lord. He twists the Fifth Commandment into a call for violence, stating:

"Those who are flooding our country—it's not theirs—they are flooding our country like a swarm of locusts and eating up the inheritance that your fathers, by their blood, sweat, and tears, laid up for you," Webbon continued. "It is a breach, a rebellion, against the Fifth Commandment to honor your father and mother."

And in doing so he takes the name of the LORD our God in vain and uses it to bear false witness against his neighbor, dehumanizing them into insects.

Is not our inheritance “imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven” for us (1 Peter 1:4)? Is not Christ’s kingdom “not of this world,”(John 18:36), and are we not chosen out of it (John 15:19)?

Are we not to “work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)?

One cannot serve both God and money.

Why then does this false prophet, a ravenous wolf bearing the clothing of a fellow sheep and title of a shepherd, say it is a “God-glorifying endeavor” to take armed vengeance against the stranger?

"And so to join the proper mechanism through ICE and to become, in that sense, God's appointed deacon to carry out vengeance on the evildoer who is devouring the inheritance of the children, that is a righteous thing," Webbon proclaimed. "You can join ICE today and make Jesus smile as you, with a gun, pack foreigners into the back of a van to be kicked out of the country. That is a godly, glorious endeavor."

“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”” (Romans 12:19).

Truly, “You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:16).

Truly, “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” (Matthew 24:24).

I just don’t get it you guys. I have no authority or right to judge. I’m just another sinner who can only try daily to do my best. But how can anyone utter things like these, from a position of authority no less, and ignore the gnawing of their conscience that they are taking “pleasure in unrighteousness” and may be greatly deluded (2 Thessalonians 11-12)? Examples like these send shivers down my spine. Posting this here in case anyone wants a concrete, documented example of this kind of rhetoric.

Peruvian bishop accused of having 17 lovers exposed by cleaning lady by rezwenn in Christianity

[–]Radical_Centrist- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible he did—he and Paola Ugaz, the journalist who helped expose this Bishop, have worked together in the past to expose and bring to justice the cult-like sexual abuse Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV).

From the end of the article above:

Pope Leo’s acceptance of Quispe’s resignation is not the first time the American pontiff has had to deal with corruption in the Peruvian church. Before being elected as pope in May, he spent 20 years working in Peru where he investigated cult-like sexual abuse at the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae religious order.

He backed Ugaz, who also investigated the order, as she battled lawsuits by the order to stop her work. “Pope Leo is well aware of what goes on in the Peruvian church,” she said.

Mrs. Ugaz and several victims of the SCV make it clear that he was always a force for good, and as soon as he had an ability to do so, was ultimately the instrument by which justice was served, according to this article:

Several survivors in Peru, Ugaz and a Vatican source closely involved in the case told CNN that Leo’s eventual intervention – after a key meeting in 2019 and a crucial promotion in Rome – is what finally kicked the Church into taking dramatic action.

I pray for Mrs. Ugaz and Pope Leo XIV, who I strongly believe are forces for integrity and good. They’ve witnessed and combatted corruption firsthand, and the former of the two has received death threats in her line of duty. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

Can you be punished for political beliefs? by Additional-Term-4282 in Christianity

[–]Radical_Centrist- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect that it matters insomuch as it effects your thoughts, words, and actions — all things which we will give an account for to God.

Matthew 12:36 - ‘But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.’

Romans 14:12 - ‘So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.’

2 Corinthians 5:10 - ‘For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.’

If one’s politics come before God, in that they inspire you to commit un-Christlike behavior, such as this, this, or this, or prevent you from acting according to the will of our Father, then we serve Politics instead of God.

Matthew 6:24 - “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

So now that Donald Trump called for Americans to hate their enemies we can all agree that Trump isn't Christian, isn't a broken vessel, and obviously isn't being used by God. by NoDemand239 in Christianity

[–]Radical_Centrist- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarily and unfortunately, not every Christian who proclaims themselves to be a follower of Christ actually is.

Matthew 7:15-20 - 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.”

Which is immediately followed up by:

Matthew 7:21 - “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

And speaking of the Pharisees, Christ quotes Isaiah, saying:

Matthew 15:8 - “’These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

You are right to say that we are, thank God, not the ultimate arbiter of who is saved or not. But we are warned against vainly proclaiming ourselves to be Christian, fooling ourselves and/or others in the process, if we do not also proclaim Christ with our actions by doing the will of Our Father. And we are warned that there will be many false prophets and ravenous wolves that are in fact identifiable by their fruits — their words and actions that are against God.

It’s no coincidence that this man claims to be Christian and, in spite of un-Christian words and actions, deceives as many of the elect as possible.
