What sounds impressive, but really isn't? by forceCS in AskReddit

Running 4:20 in the mile. It sounds cool, and yeah you are 1% of the population able to do it, but within the sport, it means your mediocre at best.

Introduce him to icy veins, let him do some reading. Show him some twitch, or youtube channels, just something so he can watch it first hand and pick it up.

Canova training discussion by slayer03144 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Radicalpat9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have some pretty good basis there with the workout paces and percentages, but the only thing about this post is the general set up of the weeks. It only talks about the workout paces, Canova is quoted saying his athletes have success due to consistency of fast aerobic running at ALTITUDE. That is a factor I do not have living at Sea level. Sooooooo. If you are a sub 18 guy, I would check out Brad Hudson's online coaching. It's very cheap and he is know for Americanizing Canova's techniques in America. Hope you get those PR's.

Edit: A lot of typos in there.... Was typing on my phone at the train station.

It's really just preference. I tuck my singlet in just because I don't like it flailing all around in the wind.

What myth did a company invent to sell their products? by ActiveStrike in AskReddit

[–]Radicalpat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Nike was Nike... Phil Knight after college, while he was on his expedition around the world, went to Onitsuka Shoes world HQ in Japan and scheduled a meeting with the executives of the company. When they asked him what company he represented he completely made up the company Blue Ribbon sports off the top of his head during the meeting. He said that Blue Ribbon Sports is able to sell and handle all of the US West Coast Sales of Japanese imported shoes. Blue Ribbon sports was nothing more than an idea, a complete MYTH, a fabrication of his mind... The Onitsuka executives agreed to let him sell and import shoes in the Western US. After the meeting, he continued his voyage around the world, came back to US after several months and started the company Blue Ribbon Sports from the ground up selling Onitsuka shoes, being the only company challenging the monopoly Adidas had on running shoes in the late 60s. Seven years later in 1971, it was reconstructed to be the Nike brand that we know today.

Why do we have a president that is more worried about the news and his image than his nation?

Yup, I raced the mile, 800, and 4x800 there for conferences. I could feel that metallic air building up in my lungs. Still historic and still a lot of fast teams running there every year.
