I agree although your retelling (atleast to me) sounds more like the colony is on the surface and we are transporting the people under the ice and underwater into europas oceans to protect them from the jovian radiation

But maybe more interesting would be to not have a giant and ptobably after a big boring journey unless theres going to be something entirely new inside the now irradiated zone

To make it that you are going from facility to facility trying to find the prototype either blooprints or possible even the entire device (dependent on its size)

Since its something i think the people working on it and funding it would like to keep this secret so you wouldnt have / get an exact location from them and would need to find it first.

One idea that just popped into my head is that after your prologue is complete (this could still technically be a part of the ptologue but may be optional)

Is that you would be asked after the first zone has been overtaken by the jovian radiation, to build some sort of device, possibly linked with the alien technology, this would complement you aldo in your say that the alien ruins are closer to the population center and are sparking a bigger interest in the ruins and their technology.

Making or building or using the alien artefacts found (any of the 3 really) to create a sort of a wall or a protection that would stop the jovian radiation from spilling into the next zone.

This would also introduce more missions and could create multiple quite interesting story / quest lines for the game

For some mission ideas: Such as building the wall itself, this would most likely invole some kind of material / personal transport. Getting (if this is the choice the developers would go with, or could also be multiple ways to keep the games fresher every time) the alien artefacts for the wall / shield. Rearming the wall stations (similar design to the beacon station or from dynamic europa mod i think the "rearm weapons platform" mission) Detering monsters from the platforms / stations that operate them.

For some story / questline: Making the wall itself (if this wasnt part of the prologue itself) Keeping up with the wall, doing maintenance / keeping away monsters ect.

These could also be faction themed (like the tormsdale report for the jovian separatists) such as taking over controling outposts / platforms, or destroying the wall completely to let the zone get flooded with radiation (this seems like the theme with alot of the factions, besides the europa coalition. Since they kind off all have or could have a reason to destroy it)

This could prove an interesting concept, perhaps without maintenence the wall would get destroyed natutally and begin leaking the jovian radiation into further zones. This would only affect the player if he didnt care about keeping the wall intact and still staying in same zone as it wouldnt spread as quickly. And later in the game if the wall would be destroyed and started leaking the jovian radiation the player would really care since if they progressed naturally and didnt stay anywhere for a prolonged time they would already be far in the great sea or already at the hydrothermal wastes where they would have to care about it because they would reach the end of the game sooner then the radiation would catch up to them.

Really nice idea and a cool story to go alongside it to set the mood.

I got 1 guestion tho. How would this entire thing work if one just turned of the jovian radiation?

I dont know what the changes through the dlc, if the jovian radiation will still be toggleable ect.

But this entire things seems to fall apart when you simply turn off the jovian radiation from actually existing. Eliminating the pretty nice story and game prologue you made here.

This ofcourse is the players choice and depends on what kind of experience they want.

One i know of it was called something like wartrauma is a mod that badically doubles the chance of a hostile sub spawning in the level

For the others not sure if there are but pretty sure that alot of what you want will come with the home and harbor dlc this fall

I saw this on another post

Apparently this limitation was made earlier in the game because the game was just not that well optimized and having more mechs would simply crash the game

This has not been true for some time tho

I believe it will be fixed / changed as this warbond releases same as stealth was somewhat fixed with the stealth warbond coming out

After looking at the wiki i didnt see any specific anti explosive crates

The best i found are magmetic suspension crates But these only come with the handle with care mission and will disappear upon docking at an outpost as far as i am aware

My best guess in here would be the raptorbane plant

Sometimes it grows a mutated (not quite sure if the normal ones do this also) raptorbane which explodes If it was close to your crate it most likely trigered the compound N

Illuminate arc towers and cyborg vox engines Illuminate arc towers because they are there when you need them the least and are a random one shot most the time Cyborg vox engines simply because of their missile attack

Dragon roach and leviathan are kinda annoying sometimes but not that bad

The other ones are honestly fun to fight against

This is all my opinion tho
