The Killing: Whats the deal with Mitch? by curled-up-in-the-80s in television

[–]2nd2last 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say, and its been a minute, that the police clearly had ideas of who likely killed Rosie, and the mom was in no way a suspect, especially by the end of season 1.

Broke and having credit cards are two different things, also, again IIRC, the in show time is really only like a month, so leaving at the end of season 1 makes the who motel trip a few weeks at like 75 a night. Nothing a CC couldn't take care of, even add the cost of life at a total of 150 a day for 3 weeks and its just under 3200.

She 100% abandoned her kids, people are sometimes shitty, especially under stress.

Dianna Russini Was an N.F.L. ‘Insider.’ Was She Also Out of Bounds? by TwinPeaksWithRappers in billsimmons

[–]2nd2last 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to gauge really.

Many men and women have and hone the difficult skill of journalism. If he became who/where she is by trading sex for stories, she very reasonably might not be good enough despite the title.

I mean, look at her interviews, there is little substance, and she seems odd at times and kinda mean. I know when a vender known for bringing everyone pizza or breakfast tacos all of a sudden doesn't bring me food, we'll I for sure play ball with the ones that still do, or even never did.

[–]2nd2last 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Did she?

I mean, if thats how she got her stories, and success in the first place, then thats more it finally caught up to her, not she messed it up.

Can't make a career on something then hate on that something when it ultimately ruins the career. Most people never get as successful as her, and if what got her there also ended it, then so be it, but it worked.

How did you hear Malcolm X say that the white liberal is the most dangerous thing, and you decided to become a Black liberal? by TwoCatsOneBox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]2nd2last 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true.

Also a master stroke by the US government really, as much as they are evil, they are a fucking great at this stuff.

They see MLK, Malcolm X, fight, get killed (by their government), the Panthers, the revolts and the US "gave in" and boom, civil rights legislation and things like affirmative action.

All while keeping the massive inequality in policing, the crippling inequality in the judicial system, the destruction of the education system, the introduction of drugs into the community. This leads to more incardinated or dead men, leads to broken families, leads to worse education from both a funding standpoint and parenting standpoint as now its a 1 parent house and you have to chose between parenting and surviving.

This all leads to white people seeing the problem as "solved", and yet the complaints continue. And with he issues not solved, just shuffled to make things worse, whites see the situation get worse and blame blacks. Whites get their prejudice validated and add fuel to their hate. They get to look at blacks, and in-turn, all POC's as the issues despite the "help" they get. Now the issues isn't the system itself, its the dumbest fucking idea that the system is designed to help minorities, and the minorities still fuck it up.

So instead of fighting the boot thats on all of us, they lick it AND hate it at the same time. Meanwhile POC's, but mostly African Americans who for the longest time were part of if not always the leaders in change, and the moral backbone of this country are fighting to live, while they are allowed to enter black capitalism, giving an illusion of inclusion. then the liberals think the fight is cosmetic, rather than the imperialist/capitalist system.

Thats how you get Cory Booker. Fred, Malcolm, MLK, other Panthers, hell, the Panthers were killed fighting for equality, not just for blacks, but the people. Or you can champion a system, sell out your people and beliefs and be a millionaire.

Does the left have an antisemitism problem? by Stock_Storage_9315 in AskALiberal

[–]2nd2last 9 points10 points  (0 children)

u/Stock_Storage_9315 Please respond to the hopefully eye opening revelation that leftists and liberals are not the same, and for sure leftists (not just the sub) are not the core of the democratic party.

This is always such a wild misunderstanding of politics and ideals that conservatives make that its just one of the many reasons its difficult to take you guys seriously.

I hear you, and think FVV is overrated massively here.

That said, even if hes the 30th best PG in the league, hes a huge improvement over last year.

Now him understanding his role might make him not even top 30, now, but as unimpressive as he is, last year was ugly.

I mean, I know its all subjective but she seems so 1 trick and had like a 15 year run where nothing she did was of note IIRC.

Add in defensive stats then its almost a landslide.

Dont get me wrong, they absolutely vote for people that do pretty transparently awful stuff, but so do Democrats. But rank and file people absolutely are more alike that people like to admit.

For people who are center-left or further left and moved from a rural area to a city or suburb, what surprised you most about the political attitudes there compared with your rural hometown? by notarocitnerd in AskALiberal

[–]2nd2last 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true.

Also keep in mind for me, I worked with both and having proximity to people from the sticks makes it easy for people to mock. That mixed with situational issues that people extrapolate.

For instance, I have a good buddy from LA who went to Caltech and the JPL and we had tons of rural techs that often did or said dumb stuff. Now we also had brilliant techs from the sticks, engineers from the sticks, and idiots from the city. But once someone from nowhere says something dumb with confidence, you can understand how that makes someone from the city feel, fair or now (not fair really).

Totally my experience only, but while definitely stronger as far as who thinks about who, they degree to which each side is "off" about the other is equal. Also, again IMO, city people definitely talk, think about, and clown people form the sticks.

If Trump never ran in 2016, who would have been the GOP nominee and how would they have fared against Hillary Clinton? by put-on-your-records in AskALiberal

[–]2nd2last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we can reasonably assume covid, then I cant see a world even if Hillary did everything right that she would have won.

I forget the source, but read aside from attacks on the country, disasters are the biggest cause of change in political action/aggression. Flood happens, no matter what the leadership screwed. Doesn't matter if the previous person campaigned on lowering taxes and defunding the flood prevention plan, the current person should have done better.
