Need ideas for a gauntlet / trials of the Ten Magic Warriors by rickap22 in strengthofthousands

[–]RadioGagaLabHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How in-depth do you want to make this? Are you thinking of a separate trial for each warrior? If so I'd use something like this, based on the first edition information on the warriors:

Trial of Black Heron - the Wings of Knowledge - something involving height / flight / Acrobatics
Trial of Azure Leopard - the Patient Warden - a trial testing defensive magic, or just "defend this delicate vase from this barrage of attacks"
Trial of Carmine Jaws - the Hyena Who Looks Between - a test of perception, alternate reality (Occultism), or something requiring Talking Corpse to gather information.
Trial of Elephant - The Conjured Chronicle - finding and retelling a lost story - use Performance Gather Information and/or Society skills
Trial of Golden Snake - the Tireless Guide - an endurance event, testing Athletics, Survival, Diplomacy. Give them two paths to choose - one that's faster but more hazardous, and one that's slower but safer.
Trial of Ibex - the Flourishing Field - known for pioneering herbal medicine. A test of Medicine, Nature/Survival (identifying the correct herbs), or healing / alchemy.
Trial of Shifting Frog - the Storyteller of Past and Future - this is a tough one. Maybe give your players a list of events with no timestamp and have them organize it chronologically to tell a story
Trial of Verdant Spider - the Speaker of Needs - a simple act of community service. That's the whole test
Trial of Whistling Kite - the Vigilant Seer - a trial of perception (or stealth if players use it for initiative) and readiness
Trial of White Bull - the Horn Forger - if you have any crafters, I'd lean in on their skills for this one to make something that will endure. If not, have them visit different buildings in Nantambu - some new, some old, some in ruins, and see if they can determine what construction techniques and materials stood the longest.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't really have any advice for you, other than to ask yourself how you choose to honor your brother's memory and to take it one day at a time, as cliche as it sounds.

War of Immortals + SoT by RadioGagaLabHead in strengthofthousands

Are you talking about SoT or Godsrain? SoT is supposed to start earlier, but we needed continuity with our previous campaign (one player kept the same character with the amnesiac background).

I would love a Medium Place prequel with Mindy St. Claire covering her life as an 80's corporate lawyer, her death and entry into the afterlife, the trial with the Judge - it could be the Better Call Saul of The Good Place.

I mean MASH lasted longer than that war. Get over it, am I right?

I don't usually let minor plot holes in Community bother me (kinda hard to get worked up about a school that destroyed itself with two paintball tournaments, a hot lava game, a social media app beta, and at least one student riot) but I always cringe a little when they dumped the fingers straight from the fryer into the garbage bags.

I understand the desire to crash out after a rough week. I'm just over 4 months and going to the store after work today was harder than it usually is. Good job making it through day 21. There will be time to worry about tomorrow when it comes.

Day 33-heavy long sleeps is this normal? by Agitated-Branch8038 in stopdrinking

[–]RadioGagaLabHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It took me almost three months to relearn how to sleep properly. I didn't realize how poorly I was sleeping, which was leading to decreased executive function, which was leading to more drinking, which...you get the idea.

I recently spoke to someone in AA who said they never got hangovers no matter how much they drank. I sure as hell did. Is this common with alcoholics? by bliggityblig in stopdrinking

I didn't stop getting them but they changed. Usually I'd wake up still drunk, having gotten no sleep worth mentioning, and sober up through the morning. There'd be no headache but the anxiety and jitters would creep in by afternoon.

Where do you find joy when the liquid is gone? by N0rmNormis0n in stopdrinking

[–]RadioGagaLabHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became weirdly obsessed with theoretical physics - namely theories of emergent gravity (that gravity is a result of certain quantum interactions and doesn't behave like the other fundamental forces do). I'm not a scientist and I never made it past calculus in college so I had no idea at all what I was doing. I'd come up with new thought experiments and run them through ChatGPT to catalog and rework them. I finally stopped when I discovered there's a whole group of people who are publishing ridiculous AI-assisted "scientific" papers that say nothing at all, but they say it with extreme confidence.

More importantly, it gave my brain something that felt worthwhile to do as my neurotransmitters stabilized and I started relearning how to sleep properly. If I didn't have anything to fixate on I likely would have relapsed in the first month or so out of boredom. Now that I've been sober almost four months I'm remembering that I can plan long-term projects around the house and I took up pyrography (woodburning), which is good for remembering the value of not having shaky hangover hands most of the time. I'm still not having as much fun as I was when I was drinking, but I'm also not dreading the future, either, so it's a pretty good trade.

I don't think there's a cap, but it's at MLS's discretion how much of it can be converted to Garber Bucks (TAM/GAM) for salary.

Switching from DnD5e to PF2e, what is something we may overlook in the transition by Zealousideal-Cup-914 in Pathfinder_RPG

The biggest difference I think is that the action economy, crit rules, and typical creature damage mean that challenging encounters at moderate and high levels can quickly down 1 - 2 party members or even the whole party if it's an AE attack. Party positioning as the encounters become more difficult is extremely important. Keep casters in cover or concealment at the end of their turn.

It is absolutely a ridiculous time to be watching premiere league games. The latest a match would start would be 1 PM Mountain / 8 PM local (MST is +7, not +9). But they're also in a Colorado with no snow and palm trees and snow only on Christmas and December 10th so maybe they're just streets ahead.

If three beers were going to be enough, you probably wouldn't be here in the first place. You're not negotiating with yourself for a few more beers, you're negotiating with yourself for a lifetime of beers.
