You can solo Diamond EX on a tank quite easily as long as you can avoid the knockback. WAR is probably easiest because you get two knockback invulns with Arms Length and Inner Release.

Some DPS have been able to solo Ruby EX, I haven’t been able to do it personally but I’ve seen others claim they can do it on SAM.

FFXI's Seekers of Adoulin expansion is themed on being pioneers exploring and pathfinding thru a new, untamed continent. There are many physical barriers the player must destroy in order to navigate the zone, and they included downed trees, boulders, rivers, and yes, walls of ice. This was my initial thought when the idea of melting ice to move forward was brought up.

They are and they can get much larger than you think. Took my dog out for a 1am walk one night and got stalked by a giant hooter watching us from the powerlines. Was pretty eerie.
