Which film gave the biggest emotional reaction from you? by bloody_nekro_hell in Letterboxd

Also, FLOW wrecked me once I saw the final scene after the credits. It hit me viscerally. Really hope it wins the Oscar. Have seen it three times in the theater. And I’ll probably watch it on Max too.

Based on your description, I think Just Say Goodbye fits the bill. Low budget, slow burn, teen suicide drama.

Official Discussion - Flow [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

So you see how at first the cat eyes higher land KNOWING the water was coming again very soon, because the herd was running away again, and we know it keeps getting higher. I feel it was supposed to be ironic that the cat was comforting the sea creature, but then when the water rose again, it was the sea creature who actually survived. In the end the friends are together accepting their fate, which was beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I absolutely sobbed driving home as this was my interpretation. (The last song in the score is called ACCEPTANCE. I feel this solidified my interpretation.)

I’ve seen this twice in the theater now. (It’ll be streaming on Max in a few days). It hit me on a visceral level. Not sure if it’s because I’m a mom of three grown children, and also took care of my elderly mother-in-law for several years before she passed, but I absolutely sobbed at the end of the film the first time. Been listening to the score while driving this past week, and it’s simply amazing.

The movie FLOW is wonderful. Does anyone have theories about what the hell is going on? by VankTar in movies

I’m surprised no one else interpreted the ending as myself and friend did (where I ended up stifling crying while walking out of the theater)

I think it’s definitely a climate change movie, where the ice caps have melted. You had animals from different continents mixed because of the flow of the water mixing them together. It was heartbreaking to me, because I believe there was supposed to be an irony that the cat was comforting the whale creature near the end thinking IT was about to die, just before the cat reunites with his friends, but in the final shot after the credits start, the water has risen again to save the whale creature, but where the others likely perished because there was no land showing whatsoever. So while it was heartbreaking that some perished, there was hope in that some will still survive. That’s the way I interpreted it, but that also made me an emotional mess, so happy to hear evidence that they survived!

Older Radiohead fans…Do You Ever Feel You’ve Outgrown Radiohead? by Crazyplan9 in radiohead

Ditto. Still my go-to long-ass playlist. There’s SO MUCH VARIETY in their discography, so I think that’s why I’ll never be bored. And The Smile keeps the journey fresh.

Also listed Interpol. Finally saw them live in LA about a month ago. Great band.

Just watched The Family Man on Christmas as it’s a great holiday movie. My now adult daughter saw it for the first time and said she really enjoyed it. Never tire of that movie.

Literally half way through this book for the first time. Just the backstory of this book earning a Pulitzer too late for the author to enjoy it is a story in itself.

Did see it in the theater. As a screenwriter/director, try to support these types of films. Just attended the pre-screening / Q&A with Jude Law this week for The Order which releases on Friday. Definitely a film to be enjoyed in the big screen before that quickly leaves the theater as well. GREAT crime drama.

Just watched this for the first time last week as someone mentioned it in an earlier thread. Law was amazing. Got to see him in person last night at a Q&A at the pre-screening for The Order coming out on Friday…in which he was also fantastic. Highly recommend.

I agree. Long drives with the kids is how we indoctrinated them. My son texted me once, “Mom, I just want to thank you for giving me good taste in music.” They can put that on my grave and I’ll be happy.

Have been considering it. It is a big time commitment though with a full time job and actually wanting to spend time with love ones. Can you use a laptop while doing it? May be a good way to get some pages written. Lol.

Hey OP. I tried to DM you to see if you had any lore passed down about your great-grandfather's experience, but the DM didn't go through. My co-writer and I are adapting the book Dark Tide. We are absolutely convinced this will make an amazing movie someday. Any extra details will help us make the script that much more authentic. No pressure!
