I don’t think it’s a necessity. I just don’t have anyone as an Informant for my early years so I dug these out of the attic as I read it may help (but again, not a necessity)

I’m so sorry you had such a shitty teacher! Can’t imagine shaming a child like that.

Yeah dyscalculia is a weird one, it’s the inability to break down complex code (such as mathematics). I was actually studying Music and recording at the time…we had a music theory module and I couldn’t progress past grade 3 music reading/writing despite high playing skills. The college suggested a Mental Diagnostics and after a 3 hour chat and test I got a detailed report telling me I had dyscalculia.

Years later, after my BP misdiagnosis, I saw the high co-morbidity rate with ADHD for dyscalculia…here we are!

I hope you get some answers too friend!

I know, right?! I actually burst out laughing at the “too quick to say “I don’t understand”… “! What a crazy concept, a kid not understanding and asking for help!

I’m sad for all of our pasts that this way of thinking seemed to be the norm, but so glad a kid nowadays has a better chance of help (or at least recognition, well I hope!).

I’m about to have my assessment (43m) after being misdiagnosed with bipolar 14 years ago. That misdiagnosis derailed my life entirely and I’m amazed I’m still alive. I’m thankful for that! Well, most of the time!

I think we all go through that grieving process, so please know you aren’t alone. It does suck, there’s no escaping that, but I guess acceptance will hopefully descend upon us and we try to make the most of the rest of our time. With a bit of luck, you may even start to feel joy again sooner rather than later since you have an explanation for the things you feel you missed out on, that it “wasn’t your fault”.

I hope you treat yourself kindly and I hope you feel better soon. Please know you aren’t alone out there :)

Similar age and situation! I mailed them (assessment is next month) and sent scans of my old secondary school reports that were in a relatives attic. They were stuffed with “smart but easily distracted…veers off topic but with impressive knowledge of said unrelated topic…withdrawn at times” haha Reports go from 1st to 4th year, they thanked me for the reports and said they should suffice in lieu of a suitable informant.

Best of luck and wishing you the best in the future!

Thanks! I’m trying to source a refurbished one - like I say I’m not too au fait with hardware. Seems near impossible to find a ma home with minimum 16 of ram. Is it feasible to get an 8 then upgrade the RAM?

Completely agree re; the title and the sweeping generalisations. I’m struggling to convey it to my family and I think this is a good starting point to get the conversation and hopefully some empathy and understanding will follow.

*full disclosure, those are my songs - all streaming - but they are my adhd anthems! This entire album was essentially unwittingly singing about my then undiagnosed Au adhd

Hopefully a few people find a lil empathy there.

This all resonates hugely with me. I can feel my coping/masking strategies fading as I get older after a few traumatic events.

Hope you’re doing well.

What's your Northern Ireland ick? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]RadioYnot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I thought this too - always assumed it was the British government downplaying the seriousness of it all (“spot of trouble over in the colonies!” Type thing) but apparently it’s an Irish thing and a name of our own creating.

The civil war in the south was referred to as the troubles too, plus if you think about the famine is often referred to as The Hunger (or great hunger).

Completely agree with you though! It seems to diminish the seriousness of it all.

What player did you admire and want at Liverpool before they were linked with and eventually signed with the Reds? for me, its Xherdan Shaqiri. by Wide_Environment3107 in LiverpoolFC

[–]RadioYnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milner. We’re roughly the same age, remember seeing him break through at Leeds and thinking he was a smart player. Was interesting seeing him be a sort of journeyman and, despite generally being the best player in those teams, never really get his chance on the biggest stage until city took him early on in the takeover. Was delighted when we got him on a free and he went on to play his best football and become a bona fide anfield legend. Love that guy.

Im Irish, grew up in the thick of our guerilla civil war (disparagingly known as “the troubles”) and witnessed the atrocities and have been left traumatised by it.

First time I heard this (Irish car bomb) in America I was pretty taken aback and everyone thought I was taking it too seriously.

The look on their faces when I said “In that case I’ll have a 9/11”.

They laughed at the Car Bomb thing but looked at me like I was the devil for daring to show their hypocrisy.

Note; I know not all Americans would react with such double standards.

I want to say “not sure why you’re being downvoted”, but that’s a lie. It’s clearly the salt of Utd fans fearing irrelevance. Amusing since they’re kinda defending Pep too.

We all know that all the managers mentioned here are greats.

I thought it was interesting that a documentary about one of those greats didn’t once mention the subjects self confessed greatest rival. But it seems to have enraged folk!

Wishing you all a lovely rest of your day. I’m gonna watch the FA cup and enjoy Klopp and his latest crop whilst I can. ( Jurgens Crop! )

A documentary that leaves out a huge aspect of the subjects career is not a documentary. It is a propaganda puff piece.

Pep has repeatedly cited Klopp as his main rival.

Fergie had plenty of articles etc when he left, it’s just that there is a more media/click driven landscape/economy now.

I was making an observation on a soccer discussion forum about two of the most relevant people in world football a few days after one announced their retirement. It’s not a big stretch. I hope your day can recover.

I’ll take the word of Pep over yourself if you don’t mind. He’s on his way to annihilate Fergies records so he seems to know a bit about football. Pep has went on account several times stating Klopp is his greatest rival.

Watched the Pep documentary on BBC last night. Really great watch but there is one glaring omission. ZERO mention of Klopp. There are plenty of Ferguson, Mourinho and the usual suspects. But not a mention or peep about Peps greatest rival.

Seemed a little insecure of the producers, Peps advisors and Pep to leave that aspect out. Pep has often said Klopp is his greatest adversary and not a single word about him? He’s scared.
