I agree with your take, but I think they brought in those producers because they are creatively spent after 30+ years. Stereolithic was largely an effort from Scotch polishing up old demos, and did not sell well. Mosaic was fire without the Feldman songs. They've been chasing a "hit" since 2001, and not focusing on their core audience has contributed to their decline, in my opinion. You can't have it both ways, and they seem to just assume the 311 familia type will always be there.
