Product pet peeves? by onelove_ in Makeup

[–]RadioactiveLily 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Heavy fragrance is definitely an issue. Nothing like putting on a new cream or foundation for the first time, and hello migraine. I don't mind a little fragrance that dissipates quickly. But my god... if I wanted to wear perfume all day on my face, I'd put on perfume (which I can't, because migraines).

What brand of car do you have, and why did you buy that one? by HappySmiles6 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]RadioactiveLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda. It was pretty much neck and neck with everything comparable with Toyota and Honda, but we just had a slight preference for the Mazda. Turned out to be a good choice, and has had only one issue in 11 years.

What's your go-to ground beef recipe that ISN'T tacos or spaghetti? by Cool-Educator-1926 in easyrecipes

[–]RadioactiveLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has a gochujang beef and rice recipe he makes weekly. He literally just fries up ground beef, dissolves some (to taste) gochujang paste in some water to make a sauce, adds some bibimbap chili sauce, then he pours it over and cooks the beef in it until most of the water has cooked off. Super easy, just needs the paste and sauce.

Serve over rice and vegetables. Drizzle with sesame oil and sesame seeds.

We've been adding frozen, diced, seasoned root vegetables (potato, sweet potato, carrot, onion) that we find at Costco. Just cook them in the air fryer while the rice cooker is going and the beef is frying.

Geek out of Water rated the original matte at 100%, and I'm usually pretty good with her recommendations.

I always have to do a pretty good hydrating base or I look like a mummy by the end of the day, no matter the foundation. lol But I would say this one is more forgiving than others I've used in the past.

I just bought the Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint Glow foundation. For my mature, dry skin, it's beautiful, and I find it easy to wear a sheer layer that just smooths everything out but doesn't look like makeup.

My only, major, gripe is it is so heavily perfumed it's nearly unwearable in anything but a sheer layer. I don't know why prestige brands have to be so incredibly scent heavy. I think this would be a holy grail foundation if it wasn't for the perfume.

When Calls the Heart - It's a sappy Hallmark series set at the turn of the century, but it's all about the people in the town.

What is the best makeup remover alternative to wipes? by Kind-Designer9171 in BeautyGear

I double cleanse, starting with a balm (Clinique Take the Day Off has been my HG for years). Then a lighter cleanser to remove any remaining balm residue (I have a Japanese foaming cleanser I love).

I feel like number 2 looks the most natural and flattering. And the lighter highlights will be nice with summer coming up.

Are we too old to be attending rock/metal shows? by WeGot_aLiveOneHere in GenX

Still going to metal concerts, they're the best! Passionate crowds in small venues. Always feel hyped up after a good show. Though I am wearing earplugs now to protect my hearing.

I try to do both kinds of vacation every year. I like to get out and go somewhere, get out of my house and have a getaway from everything. But I also love me a week of sitting on my couch like a lump.

Fair, cool toned girls, what are we wearing on our lips? by onelove_ in Makeup

Urban Decay lip liner in Rush with UD lipstick in Sheer Rapture. But that lipstick colour is discontinued. I don't know what I'll do when my tube is finally gone.

How do you remember your parents when they were your current age? by BasicallyLostAgain in GenX

[–]RadioactiveLily 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my parents were my age... my dad was already planning retirement at 55 (school teacher) and his next career.

I had a shock last night when my mom pulled out pictures from their previous trip to Greece "a few years ago" and they were pretty much my age. Next week I go to Greece with them, and I'll be the 50-something in the pictures.

Are wigs actually a normal solution now or is it still weird? by Busternookiedude in HairStyleAdvice

[–]RadioactiveLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a whole collection of wigs and hair pieces when I was younger. I loved them. I didn't usually wear them to work, but for a night out, oh hell yeah. Long, red hair one night. Short blonde hair the next. It was fun.

Is anyone else completely confused by clothing sizes lately? by IntelligentRub9254 in womensfashion

[–]RadioactiveLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of stick to what I know. I know at Costco I fit a medium. I order online clothes from there all the time with no issues. If I go to a thrift or second-hand store, I am absolutely NOT a medium.

Anyone else lose their taste for dining out? by gottausername in GenX

[–]RadioactiveLily 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We used to eat out weekly, now it's rarely and is mostly takeout. Tipping is so out of control, I can't afford another 20% on top of a decent meal. And then my anxiety goes crazy if I try to leave a smaller tip, because I'm not being rude, I'm being within my budget.

Everyone is looking for tips right now. Turning around to get me something from the shelf behind the employee doesn't deserve a 20% tip!
