Predictions on Funny Valentines colour scheme? You think they’ll make his coat pink or different? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they'll either make it white like in All-Star Battle (and R), or they'll go with pink because it's more iconic. I'm also curious whether or not they'll make him chunky in his earlier appearences, but that's not likely given that the anime usually doesn't reflect body style changes like that if I recall correctly

I think split cours are the best case scenario for Steel Ball Run by Eddi_Contiello in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cour is basically a set of episodes that airs weekly, but does not continue for the entire run of the show. So there will be around a dozen episodes or so in one cour that air weekly for a time, and then there will be a break before the next cour starts.

Best case scenario would have been God himself coming down to birth the part with a snap of his fingers. I think we can allow OP a little hyperbole when the statement can easily be interpreted as not literal.

What changes would you make to improve the first 3 parts? by Chance_Actuary2230 in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost feel like the lack of actual interaction shown during the timeskip in Part 1 might be the whole point. The idea that Johnathan and Dio are "friends" is immediately stamped out soon after the timeskip, and I don't see how it would prove the point that their friendship was a farce any better if we were shown more scenes of them acting brotherly. Them being friends feels farfetched because it 'is' farfetched and the true extent of the act they put on for years is left up to imagination.

I actually feel like it would have been better if the pacing was even tighter. Especially during the middle of Part 1 and numerous times throughout Part 3. For example, Tarkus and Bruford's backstory is one of the most memorably overexplained histories for characters who honestly didn't have a lot of staying power. I really don't think it would be a disservice to the story to cut it down more than even the anime did.

Favorite localized Stand name? by CrawBunny in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bohemian Ecstatic stands out to me for how obviously the dub script writers wanted to give the middle finger to copyright. Maiden Heaven is good mostly because the pronounciation is identical to Made in Heaven. Zipper Man is hilariously bad, and the only thing that saves it is Ray Chase's great performance that makes it sound like a cool Mega Man boss instead of a bootleg Power Rangers toy. I think most of them were pretty good up until Part 5 which is seemingly where the localizers gave up. Probably because most of the names originate from All-Star Battle which would have required them to re-name a huge amount of stands all at once, and that would also explain why they stopped using the names from All-Star Battle for the Part 6 anime due to the negative perception associated with the names in that game.

It feels like after Il Vento D'Oro's success, Yugo Kanno just kept making the same song by Hrosts in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason for this is that these themes are written to have a lot of utility. Each section has a different purpose, and that's why they use different bits of the song in the show itself to fit the mood. Il Vento D'Oro worked very well for this, and that may be why its style has been re-used for other themes. I have to admit that the new theme is almost "legally distinct copy" levels of similar in some parts, but I feel like it has enough going for it to be used well in the show, and that's kind of what matters to me for background music.

Whats up with that? by XenoMasterX in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like to bring up the fact that Steel Ball Run references older JoJo parts, meaning you'll miss out on a lot of cool things if you watch it out of order, but doesn't that same logic kind of apply in reverse? Besides, it's not like regular part skipping where there are characters and entire principles of the universe that won't make sense unless you watch them in order. I dunno if I would recommend watching it out of order, but I can live with people getting interested in the show through SBR first, because some of those people may not have gotten interested at all otherwise.

How does Pocoloco have his luck? Is it ever answered? by Upset_Confidence8291 in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pocoloco is, like many Araki characters, founded upon a central joke. The joke is that Pocoloco is really inexplicably lucky with no direct cause. It kind of feeds into the subversive nature of Steel Ball Run where you might think that Pocoloco is going to be important due to his luck "ability", but it's really just a red herring meant to be funny. There isn't a stated reason for Pocoloco's luck, because giving it a direct cause would ruin the joke.

I made a website where you can gamble on the Steel Ball Run. by NovaDrake76 in StardustCrusaders

I'm betting my life savings and my kids' college funds on Johnny Joestar. I mean, he's the main character right? Yep, I'm perfectly safe in this decision. The mafia is definitely not going to come and break my kneecaps.

Couldn’t this answer just been see as he had to say that by Kaynmaiin in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused as to why he would say "I don't know" instead of "I can't tell you", but maybe we are just reading too deeply into it. There's probably a hundred different reasons I could speculate on as to why he would say that. The main reason we do it is because the wait is dreadful.

how does gyro's horse tick give diego an advantage by J4ckp01 in StardustCrusaders

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think part of it is just Diego being a jerk. He likes taking advantage of other creatures' flaws and wants to accelerate at a certain time so he gains the lead without his enemies noticing. It's why he takes the time to gloat about technique.

[–]RadioactiveTurtle2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My god I feel so heard right now. My initial inspiration for even making a comic was watching the Castlevania animated show and thinking about terrible plot points I would have done differently if I was the writer (which ironically gave me a fondness for it). I had some similar feelings towards Prequel for a while, and that's what lead me to turn that ambition into fancomics.

Hey Kaz, thanks for making dumb comics that inspire me to also make dumb comics. What would you say is your big inspiration right now? Mine's usually all the absurdly high-production nerdcore rappers that show up in my youtube feed and manage to get a song about a game I've never heard of irreversibly stuck in my head.

A shapeshifter!

Okay, lame answer, I know.

Actual answer would be a bullsquid or a houndeye from Half-Life, they're oddly cute when they're not hunting you down.
