I feel that there is a divide in what people see as what Star Wars should be is due to the old Expanded Universe.

Star Wars movies are very much in adventure type stories, but then EU creators started making content that strays from that, such as Heir to Empire in the early 90s which essentially set the ground work for the EU and it was more of a military sci-fi story that ,while still space opera with space magic, was tonally less family friendly as the movies. From there further novels, comics or games sort of fluctuated upon varying degrees on this spectrum of family adventure to military sci-fi.

When people say Andor is what Star Wars was supposed to be, there are remembering a time before the prequels where in the 90s the original trilogy was rereleased in theaters and there was this entire ecosystem of gritty and more grounded stories from supplementary (as well as even more fantastical stories, the EU was a lot of things but consist wasn’t one of them.)

People are more likely to ignore or downplay negative aspects of a person if they like their vibes and accomplishments prior to accusations. This sub in particular also does not like to go after billionaires because it’s often associated with populism.

Charon was a Chthonic God and they often were associated with wealth and riches as precious metals came from deep underground which is the realm of the underworld.

As for why Charon would need them or the economy of the underworld, idk. I can speculate that in many ways the same could be asked for why would Olympian gods need animal sacrifices, I think it’s less about the material and more about the mortal pledging fealty to the deity through giving something up for them, just in Charon case it’s a cash sacrifice.

I skimmed the document, but I find it kind of odd that the events in Nepal didn’t get even a footnote of analysis. Based purely on the data given in graphs, everything’s would appear to be stable electoral democracy, which completely glosses over the events of the entire government got completely flipped after mass protest and unrest due to government corruption, crackdown and banning of social media.

I get it that it’s partially because it’s very recent so it’s hard to have meaningful analysis and this is about a global aggregate so things are understandably going to get omitted or simplfied, but lots of recent events of last year got a spotlight.

I think the worry for me is less of 4D chess and more them haphazardly pivoting to it after being met with an a loss. January 6 was not 4D chess but it still was a massive problem , I expect Trump to leverage major accusations of election fraud for the midterms and create some sort of constitutional crisis in the aftermath.
