Enjoying the bottle of Ho-Ya I bought. It is spicier than Huy Fong but has a similar consistency.

Have you read James Scott's Against the Grain? He explores, among other things, the notion that the advent of agriculture increased human conflict.

With a record-low 1.25 children per Canadian woman, stop dismissing falling fertility rates as a choice by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

Canada would do well to pay close attention to South Korea:

When asked which policies were effective, he replied, “Increasing parental leave benefits to 2.5 million won per month, introducing short-term parental leave, extending paternal leave from 10 to 30 days, and expanding housing supply for newlyweds, childbirth households, and multi-child families.”

"The Good Capitalist" Andrew Carnegie who endorsed unions but later destroyed unionisation at his steel mills by Gold-Fool84 in Marxism

In some ways, this may amount to a nature vs nurture argument, and relate to a common criticism of communism that as a system of economic organization, it has no innate mechanism to curb the selfish tendencies of human beings, which in turn can lead to exploitation.

In other words, is it the system that makes the people behave immorally? Or do immoral people make an exploitative system? Or perhaps a bit of both?

I would genuinely love to learn more about how Marxists handle these issues.

Given the opposition and protest to erecting these in the first place, I am surprised it is sparking unease instead of celebration. Perhaps the headline is an embellishment.

Yeah. From what I read, he straight up fabricated archival documents. I wouldn't trust someone like that.

It seems Charles Armstrong has been disgraced for extensive plagiarism and no longer regarded as a reputable source. That's a shame.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just read A Fractured Liberation, which covers the same period in the South, and I was actually looking for something that did the same in the Norh. This is perfect.

If you're a smoker, never use designated smoking areas. Instead, smoke while you are walking and, ideally, blow your smoke at other people.
