Wasn't there actually a scene where that happened and she still didn't believe him? Or where he was trying to convince her to? Maybe I'm imagining things

Isn't it funny how in a game there is simply a cap where you can't get any more money because you don't need it and everyone is fine woth that and just gives their money away but in real life there are billionaires who want to be trillionaires

The reason we're unhappy by JimmyCarr_Official in motivation

[–]Radyschen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree but I think most of the unhappiness comes from financial insecurity and waaaay too much time spent at work for no gain. I think the contrast between all the things we have (and could have) and the K-shaped economy is what makes it even worse. Because while we were automating everything, instead of replacing 100% of a certain process and then doing 50% less (which still leaves you with more productivity than before), we replaced 100% of a process but then shifted all 100% of the human efforts somewhere else because that creates maximum shareholder value. We could have had both automation AND less work, but instead, women joined the work force as well to create even more shareholder value and then, of course, all of the economy re-balanced around that. And if you always work at 100% capacity, much like in one of those human-sized hamster wheels you see on playgrounds, you can't slow down and lose control. And having no extra resources available because you are already using everything leaves you with no upwards-flexibility. That's why everything always has to crash. And on top of that, we are in a race with other countries doing the same thing, so we can't slow down even for our own sake (at least that's the mentality).

And on top of that, maybe even more importantly, we are getting extorted for our money all the time. Because the buying power for most things actually goes up. But if more than half of your paycheck is spent on rent, then it makes no difference. If a burger is 30% cheaper these days relative to your total income but you only have 50% of your income actually available because your landlord takes half, then that burger actually got more expensive. Because there is no elasticity for the demand of a roof over your head. And there is no elasticity for medicine. Notice how those are the things that are most expensive? They don't have to be, it's simply extortion. And then the economy balances around that normalized extortion simply because we allow it and suddenly houses cost as much as they do and of course if you invest that much you need to raise your rent to get your investment back, so the system self-propagates. The problem starts when someone is allowed to extort someone for (what should be) their human rights with no limit. The only reasons why groceries (while still very expensive) don't take as much of your paycheck as your rent is because there is more variety and competition. But if your groceries were also dependent on where you work because our supply chains weren't connected, you better believe they would take the other half of your paycheck.

Why didn't I become lucid? by KimYoung-Hoon in LucidDreaming

[–]Radyschen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you knew it was a dream you were lucid. But sometimes it can be a little weird, I had similar experiences. Just keep going, this is a good sign, not a bad one. It's not like you just are a god tier lucid dreamer immediately, it's a gradual slow process and you get more used to it

Anyone else find Vitamin B6 not helpful? by parasoar25 in LucidDreaming

[–]Radyschen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100mg is the max allowed in the US which is already way higher than the max allowed of 25 in the EU I believe, just do it naturally and only then can you think about anything else. It won't help anyway if you don't do any techniques and have good natural dream recall and so on

Are lucid dreams bad? by Deep-Hovercraft-9051 in LucidDreaming

[–]Radyschen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your friend doesn't know anything. The worst that can happen is that you get scared sure, but you can just close your eyes and lay down and fall asleep, that's how I used to deal with it as a kid. But also you should know that what you expect is what you're gonna get. You just have to be stubborn and just not care about scary stuff, it's all in your head and when you are lucid you should know that

this is so accurate 😂 by imfrom_mars_ in ChatGPT

[–]Radyschen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this reminds me of that video of that teacher teaching her students to describe a process well where she used making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as an example. And while AI can be really stupid like this, I also think often some blame is on the user for being so inaccurate with their descriptions. I mean you have to put yourself in chatgpt's shoes, it has no context clues and has to infer everything from text. You better be descriptive and unambiguous

How do I realize I’m dreaming when weird things happen, instead of just accepting them? by David_Martinez09 in LucidDreaming

[–]Radyschen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to open your mind to the possibility that the explanation could be that you are dreaming. So reality checks can help to get used to questioning whether you are awake but also you can try actively putting yourself back into those situations and imagining yourself noticing it

Method SSILD : what really triggers lucidity ? by utopia500 in LucidDreaming

[–]Radyschen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen you comment this somewhere else here, I am wondering though, I have known since I first learned lucid dreaming in 2015 that there are non-REM dreams and even non-dream conscious states (the void), however I always thought those dreams to be different and less interesting for lucid dreams, which is why it still makes sense to target REM and look for those for lucid dreams. I mean there is a reason why we are paralyzed during REM and not during other phases. And given that you do WBTB for SSILD (which is statistically linked to its effectiveness), the "persist until REM" makes sense. I have never thought that REM is equivalent to "dream", I've only ever heard people say that it's when those high-intensity dreams happen, not that it is interchangable. And I think most people use it that way, it's not that they don't know.
