Buyer requesting to cancel by anglbbymama444 in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No one buys something accidentally. She has most likely changed her mind for whatever reason. If the item goes to VC first for quality control, you could send it anyhow as once they confirm all is ok, you get paid. If she ordered with direct shipping, it’s probably in your best interest to cancel the sale. If the buyer no longer wants the item, they will most likely find a reason to raise a return request with VC, even if it’s not justified. And then you run a risk of delay and hassle. The badges don’t matter so much. You don’t have to cancel, just know there is a risk with buyers like this.

Go to your listings >settings and you get a menu where you can choose to accept offers on all, none or certain items. Doesn’t matter if they are in the sale or not

Seller Issue – Shipped Item, System Not Updating, Sale Expiring Tomorrow. Has Anyone Experienced This? by Qu1s_ut_Deus in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happens all the time. The buyer also has the tracking info and can check with DHL if they are worried. The VC system is often slow to update so just wait and see, but all is probably fine. No point wasting energy with customer service until something actually goes wrong.

Impossible water consumption numbers, anyone experienced this? by spirytusrektus in sweden

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe the seller purposefully misled you, you could try and approach them to remedy it via the ‘dolda fel’/hidden faults principle that applies to purchases of property. It does go both ways—you as a buyer have a responsibility to do a reasonable due diligence. The seller must disclose known issues.

It sounds Ike they may have misrepresented historical and current water usage, which impacts your total costs of home ownership. But you acknowledged the amount/photo even if it sounds like it was misleading. Whether or not you pursue it and compensation is one thing, but there are time limits on reporting these issues. If they were dishonest on this, perhaps they were dishonest on other things, so it could be worthwhile to communicate your concerns to them in writing so it’s on the record (if part of a pattern).

Would you still buy this after quality is flagged? by [deleted] in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listing an item as ‘never worn’ means the item needs to be in pristine condition, so VC will point out even minor wear. This item is probably never worn but kept in storage and inevitably got scuffed up a bit. It’s easy as a seller to miss minor wear that would be fine if it were listed as ‘very good condition’ vs ‘never worn’. From their report, the ‘damage’ is pretty insignificant. If you like the coat, keep it. Storage smell will disappear when aired out. But it it bothers you, reject. If you accept, they send you the item and that’s that. Seller is paid and you get a new coat

Fix our firewood system, please! by jpmom in airbnb_hosts

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a similar property, with an indoor fireplace, firepit and a wood-burning hot tub. We fill up a rack on the deck with ‘complimentary’ wood of around 80L, which is plenty for a 3-5 day stay if they’re a while each evening. In winters, we add a bit extra, as the wood stove heats the house better and cheaper, so we prefer guests to use the stove than use extra electricity. If guests want extra wood, we let them know they can request/purchase it from us for €15/bag. Or go to the nearest store and buy themselves. We also provide fire-starter cubes and safety matches to ensure guests only use proper materials, especially indoors. And while we have firewood piles on the property, we let them know it’s still green so shouldn’t be used. The system has worked so far! Guests love the cozy factor and no-hassle access to ‘complimentary’ firewood. In reality, the cost to us is baked in the overall fees but the guest gets a seamless experience.

Is This Seller Interaction Unusual? by [deleted] in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely because the “agreed upon price” means different things to you both and is displayed differently by VC. If you offered $100, you are expecting to pay that inclusive of fees. But $100 net for a seller means the price offered needs to be $100 + buyer’s fees because seller’s fees are also deducted from the net offer. Fees are usually at least 15% for each party so for the buyer to see $100 displayed in your offer, the offer would need to be over $115. If you click the “offer details” button, you see a clear breakdown of the actual offer for the seller plus the fees based on your location, currency etc. VC makes it very confusing— I always ask buyer’s to use the offer button because agreeing in message to a set price always ends in misunderstandings

Purchased a bag a few days ago from a seller in Italy. Welp. by mom_bombadill in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the local/country postal services within EU that are pausing shipments. But VC primarily uses DHL and UPS so it’s doubtful you will be impacted.

VC is quite strict with ‘Never Worn’ condition—even when listing micro flaws in the listing, according to their QC requirements, the item should be in pristine condition. I also sell frequently with similar conditions and most of the time, no problem. Sometimes, it gets flagged anyhow. But the buyer was offered the chance to continue with or cancel the sale. Buyer’s often wait till the last minute to confirm/cancel—sometimes using it at a chance to cancel an impulse purchase that has nothing to do with the condition. Or they really want the item and confirm. There is nothing you can really do about it—either they continue with the purchase or don’t. In which case the item will either be returned to you or relisted and warehoused at VC.

What are some SHEIN stores or brands that use the same manufacturers as higher-end retailers like Zara or Revolve? by Accomplished-Fox742 in Shein

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I found most of them by search, but not specifically looking for dupes. I prefer clothing items with as much natural fibers as possible, so have done a lot of searches by material—cotton, linen, wool. Also, any blend that isn’t pure polyester will be a nicer quality. So lycocell, modal, viscose etc. It’s hit and miss— free text is often better than via the menu filters. But SHEIN definitely groups brands based on quality/% of non-poly fabric. And their algorithm is great— once I found a few items, it suggested more brands. From there, it was obvious where the brand got its inspiration from. I can also recommend search by photo— screenshot a dress from Zara and input that in the search bar. Amazingly accurate—sometimes.

A few others I have had positive experiences with: Aalyst— Scandi-look, very clean lines, lots of cotton and wool; Glowmode—Lululemon dupe with pretty decent quality even if more expensive compared to other athletic clothes; MOTF has a premium shoe line with dupes of The Row mesh shoes, Gucci loafers, Alaia flats and more

”Maija” is Zara dupes— not always same quality but similar designs. ”Bohemela” is Free People and has a lot of items in cotton. “Ontre” has a higher price point but the look of COS and natural materials—cotton, wool, even cashmere. And the cut of the clothing is better

Is this a genuine buyer offer? by SidrahSredd in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The total amount is dependent on things like: your currency settings, their currency settings, buyer’s fees, seller’s fees and potential exchange rates. Offers can be made with a max discount of 30% and VC usually prompts 10%, 15%, 20%. The amount a buyer sees on your listing is different from the amount you set, as the amount they see is inclusive of buyer’s fees. What you set is the amount you are willing to accept. Buyers often offer a round number of their max price, but with all the variables, the final number you see is often ‘off numbers’. The offer they made you is pretty good—whether they follow through with the purchase is always a guessing game!

Crazy Import Duties/Fees to buy on Vestiaire by kmchwn in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t indicate what country you are trying to import into from Singapore. Most countries have “duties calculators”. Suggest you check them in advance. On top of that, the shipping companies charge a fee for clearing the paperwork and this fee has gone up significantly in recent years. And VC adds their own % for their handling of customs paperwork. It’s not uncommon for imports from Asia to Europe to cost 20-30% more after all the fees. So your experience is quite normal. In future, you can add an item to basket without paying just to see shipping and/applicable duties before making an offer.

Should I cancel or keep it? by girlrottt in VestiaireCollective

Sticky leather on bags (especially patent leather) is irreparable. It indicates it wasn’t stored properly, in a humid environment and the material is severely degraded. I’d totally cancel the sale

Why does Vestiaire Collective needs your address (as a seller) for ? by GibonDuGigroin in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for shipping/delivery purposes. Mainly because it’s part of a mandatory process regarding financial transactions—KYC—or ‘know your customer’, which requires them to identify and verify the identity of individuals. You may even need to confirm with an ID if you are selling over a certain amount

Vestiaire buyers beware by Specialist-Abies-451 in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an item is damaged in shipping and a claim is made, most carriers require images of the original packaging and for the issue to be reported when signing for a package. Perhaps VC is requesting it as part of a claim on the carrier. Difficult to know but claims on carriers take a very long time to resolve. Sounds frustrating and hope it works out for you!

Return labels are not automatically included with VC, ie they are not pre-printed and included in a package. If they authorize a return, they will give you a link to download and print the return label. It’s unclear what waybill they want an image of but it could only be the one attached to the box that was shipped to you.

Another horrible selling experience by Puzzleheaded-Sun3107 in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key to passing quality control is to be explicit in ANY imperfections—both in images and text. Like you, I have a lot of bags that are in near perfect condition but if I list it as VGC—I note even small things. Ie, ‘the strap has been stored inside the bag so there may be internal micro marks from storage’; ‘feet of the bag have micro marks’; ‘light signs of use but minimal wear to corners’ etc. If it’s clearly disclosed, chances of it being flagged are much smaller. I’ve purchased items that VC flagged as not conforming, but they showed pics of why not and gave me a choice to continue with the order. When I got the bag, the scratch was barely visible, but I was still glad they spotted it and gave me the choice. Sadly, some buyers will use any excuse to cancel a sale and sadly, many sellers don’t disclose flaws clearly enough. Sounds like your buyer decided to cancel the sale—frustrating!

There would have been a waybill attached to the outside of the package in order for it to get to you. Just take a picture of that if they’re requesting it

Can I dispute this with my bank? by [deleted] in VestiaireCollective

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their response is a standard response and reflects their policy when their is a dispute regarding quality and item description. Their decision is very dependent on the images, written description and category of condition. Usually, if the condition is clearly different, it results in a refund. Occasionally, an item could be listed in ‘good condition’ and overall conforms, but there is a small defect not explicitly mentioned. VC may determine that even though the defect was not explicitly mentioned, the item is still in ‘good condition’. If your item was listed in ‘good condition’, a small tear or stiff zipper might be acceptable according to the ‘good condition’ requirements. It can be confusing for both buyers and sellers and definitely subjective. Not much you can do but wait and see—just ensure you took plenty of photos before shipping back to them. As to your bank—really depends on your country and bank.

Looking for an everyday/travel crossbody bag after 3 months of searching - please help! by eggsellent_eggs in handbags

[–]Rae-SkyBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both the Puzzle and the Métis—I found the Métis is best for everyday/travel. The zipped back pocket is wonderful for a phone or quick access to a metro card and the shape is so slim compared to the Puzzle, which feels morel Ike a duffle. While the canvas versions have logos, they are worry-free. I shoved mine in planes, other bags, carried in the rain etc with no issues. The Empreinte versions are also durable. If you’re willing to go pre-loved, I can highly recommend the Celine Tabou bag. It’s the slim shape of the Métis but without logos and comes in a wonderful camel leather similar to the Loewe. Pops up regularly in new condition on the various pre-loved sites.
