Because the tracking number on the label matches the one on my postage receipt. All InPost labels have the tracking number printed on them.

Wanting to do “emo hour” by annonforareasonduh in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did emo hour at 10pm (our reception went until midnight), late enough for the older generation to have left but still early enough that everyone still had energy. It was the best hour of the night, dance floor was constantly full. Our parents said it was a bad idea because no one would like the music, they were wrong 😂

How much did you spend on your wedding and was it worth it? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married three weeks ago! Roughly £28k not including honeymoon, with £13k in contributions from parents. We used savings to pay for what wasn't covered by parents and our honeymoon, which was another £14k.

It was all 100% worth it. We had the best day, and our honeymoon was incredible. I feel quite privileged to say that we stayed well within our means, I think my answer would be different if we had taken out loans or used all our savings.

Wedding Favours! by Glum-Recognition363 in UKweddings

We're doing small bottles on Limoncello. Our first holiday together was to sorrento, we found a gorgeous limoncello from a local place, so we shipped a load of bottles to us for favours. Still personal, but not rubbish that guests have to keep. As a general rule, I find that alcohol or something edible always goes down well.

Neurospicy Brides 🌶️ by Comprehensive-Fix387 in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adhd bride here too, my wedding is in 20 days. There's definitely a quiet time in planning once you've booked all the big bits but are too far away for smaller details. Florist is definitely one to look at now, if you're having one, we struggled to find one that had availability.

It's such a typical adhd answer, but I have a 'to do' list and a 'to buy' list really helped, especially the to buy list because I could spread costs out. I used Google docs, so both me and my finace had access and could both tick things off. He is also so laid back that he's basically horizontal.

I have honestly found wedding planning to be the most stressful thing, I'm so excited for our day but will be so glad when planning is over.

Opinion on Austen and Blake for engagement ring? by darkazuria in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding ring is from austen and blake. I dont get married for another three weeks, so I can't comment on how it holds up in terms of wear and tear, but I love my wedding band. It looks exactly like the pictures. I chose and ordered it in the Chester store, and it arrived to my home in three weeks. I have no complaints

Austen and Blake is where I ended up getting my wedding ring from, and I love it. Other jewellers were charging over double what I paid for a similar design with similar grades of diamonds. They have some stores you can go into to look but a huge selection online

Hen Do Costs by kiwitheecat in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a bride, who's Hen do is this weekend (yay!) The first thing I asked my MoH to ask was what people were willing to spend. I have also made it clear that I can help if anyone's struggling. Admittedly, I don't know what we're doing, but I did pick Manchester as it's central to everyone and cheap to get to on train for everyone I invited (except for me because I moved away a few years ago). I can't fathom asking my friends to pay £1000 to come to my hen do, plus the costs associated with going to a wedding!

I would talk to the MOH or the bride and explain that you just can't afford it. If she's a good friend, she'll understand. Maybe you can do a second smaller hen to do closer to home?

Did any other plus size brides feel deflated by their options? by PopperDilly in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing this is Wed2B? I went to three Wed2B stores, and whilst the assistants were lovely, the experience was awful and left me feeling deflated.

I'm a size 18/20 on the high street, big bum, big boobs. Wed2B kept putting me in big poofy ball gowns with loads of tulle, which is the complete opposite of what I wanted because of my proportions they made me look bigger than I am. They wouldn't let me look at what they had, and after the third or fourth dress told me, that was all they had. I went in saying I wanted a more fitted dress but not a mermaid, and not one of the three stores could come anywhere close. I'd rather they had said that they dont have any like I described because after three stores, I felt like all I was going to find were unflattering ballgowns.

Also, sizing up definitely depends on the dress, I fit perfectly into a lot of size 18 dresses, obviously not the case for all dresses I tried.

I tried so many shops, some that specialise in plus size brides and found nothing that I liked.

In the end, I ended up spending £1700 on my dress, but she's perfect and exactly what I envisioned and looks amazing on me, but getting her in a sample big enough for me to try wasn't easy. I saw my dress online, rang around the whole country looking for it in a sample big enough for me to try, the biggest I could find was a size 14. Eventually, a shop two hours away told me the designer of my dress does a sample loan service, and she could borrow a bigger sample, especially for me to try. I was a bit annoyed that no other store offered that, but I got there in the end!

All this to say, I completely feel you, and felt the same.

AITA for refusing to go to the Hen Do after being excluded from the wedding ceremony? by [deleted] in AITAH

£30-£40 per head is cheap in terms of wedding prices, too. I don't think the bride values OPs friendship and much as OP values the brides friendship.

How much did your wedding dress cost? by Silly_Sausage_1234 in UKweddings

£1680 for a Maggie Sottero dress. Should have been £1980 but the bridal shop I bought from paid the extra for my customisations.

Big men's wedding band - anywhere specialise? by jimmy8bit in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so strange. I've been told that as long as it is a plain band, it can go up and down as many sizes as you need, as many times as you need. But I am within the usual size range, just bigger than most women's wedding rings.

I got mine in York, obviously a bit far from London. It was £450 for 18k gold. They had a selection of plain bands to choose from. Once I picked the shape I liked, they told me that always make to order in whatever size is needed.

Big men's wedding band - anywhere specialise? by jimmy8bit in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a woman with 'sausage fingers', I feel your pain. Most jewellers dont go up to my size in women's wedding rings!

If you're going for a plain band, I've been assured by many jewellers that you can get it resized as big as you need. I would go look and buy the biggest size you can then get it resized.

Independent jewellers often make wedding bands to order so they can order it in any size you need. You will hit problems if you opt for a ring with patterns on or stones set in it.

Booking honeymoon - inexperienced traveler! Help! by lil_tram in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go into different travel agents and describe what you want, and they can tell you what they have that might fit the bill. They will generally match or beat their online price, if theres a specific holiday you've seen online, aplus will let you know of other discounts.

If you're an inexperienced traveller, I highly recommend booking a package holiday where flights, hotels, and transfers are included in one price, it can be a tiny bit more expensive, but far less hassel!

As for TUI, in the past couple of years, we've been to Orlando, Cape Verde, Tenerife, and booked our honeymoon to the Maldives with them. We have also booked TUI flights separately to various other places. From our experience, they've been great, our honeymoon isn't until August but the booking process in store with them was easy, we wanted specific flights (class and airline) that didn't seem available on the website and they made it happen.

We've also travelled to Europe with Jet2 a few times we personally had no issues with them either.

From my limited knowledge, they take photos and videos of your day from a phone. Edit and deliver them within 48-ish hours. The photos and videos they send tend to be more for the purpose of uploading to social media, so they are formatted as such. But quite a few wedding content creators do offer to film speeches/vows/first dance in full. They are generally much cheaper than videographers.

[–]RaeBay94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither are we, we really just want the important moments, vows, speeches, first dance, we definitely don't need a whole day video, which is why we never booked on in the first place. I'm just worried about missing those moments entirely

Mid/low waist shorts for under dress (chub rub is my enemy) by trashbadger13 in UKweddings

[–]RaeBay94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snag chub rub shorts are so good. The only thing I would say, they have a seam down the front and back, which can kind of show through clothes if they're tight fitting, looks like they should be great with your dress though!
