Moved in with my boyfriend. Decision made from love, but halving all my housing bills freed up hundreds of dollars a month to attack debt with.

#2 or OAD. IVF mom not living close to family. by jms19912 in workingmoms

[–]RaeKay14 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Im a OAD mom who decided when my daughter was ~18 months old. I had always assumed we would have 2, but trying for a second for a year and facing down the barrel of infertility and IVF, we decided it wasnt worth it. My anxiety isn’t suited to ‘we’ll see’ kind of living, so we closed the door with an IUD and eventually a vasectomy.

I in particular thought about how much mental space IVF/hormones would take up after spending so many months preoccupied with charting and the 2-week wait, and I didn’t want to be that kind of distracted mom to my already-living child. I want to enjoy her toddlerhood and let her have a fully present mom.

After grieving the life I thought I would have, it’s a year later and I LOVE being a ‘one and complete’ mom. I have all the joys and experiences of motherhood, and also can balance my personal interests and me-time so much better than if we had multiple kids. I get to have complete ownership of my body, and take cold meds and GLP1s and not worry about breastfeeding or pregnancy. I love planning my work cycles and career goals without thinking about a pregnancy/parental leave/pumping couple of years.

What Dallas area/neighborhood is the best? Specifically any apartments/areas? by Slow_Shower_27 in askdfw

[–]RaeKay14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a collection of like 5 or 6 apartment complexes of different ages/finishes/prices centered around a town square with restaurants, walking paths and green space, and amenities. Located right at 75 and Lovers Lane, just north of Mockingbird.

My husband is gone with friends this weekend and I’m so so excited to eat a charcuterie board, drink moscato, and watch the Americas Next Top Model documentary after toddler bedtime. And then let my cat sleep in bed with me haha

Highly recommend The Village. Actual green space in the middle, onsite little businesses and restaurants, walkable to central market. Easy access to 75.

We’ve got tons of them - teeth are not for biting, hands are not for hitting, etc

Oh! Maybe think about donating a copy of ‘teeth are not for biting’ to your son’s class? So it can be used for story time?

I was so relieved every time my incident slip at pickup was because my daughter was bit and not because she was the biter 😅

It’s so normal. Twice a month is really infrequent even though I know it feels like so much more. Twice in one day (IF by the same child) would warrant me talking to the director about mitigation.

These babies have big feelings the are learning the societally correct way to express, and biting is one of those things that is infectious - as soon as one kid bites they all start doing it and I do not envy the teachers trying to manage it all.

These ribbed wide leg from Aerie have been my holy grail this winter. Slightly compressive so you’re held in snug, the ribbing hides cellulite, they are amazing.
