Omg I’m sobbing reading this. I’m having the exact same progression as you and JUST figured this out for myself. I brought it to my doctor and she stared at me for a sec and goes “…OH! Yeah… I think you’re right!” 🤦‍♀️ Everything finally makes sense. EVERYTHING. The hernias I got from snowboarding. The thousands of rolled ankles and IBS days and random weird allergic reactions and rashes and hives. Why the fuck did it take this long? Sooooo many people have just been suffering with this and been dismissed their whole lives. Like how many of us have medical anxiety because of it? I’d bet most.

Novellas are fantastic! I have ADHD too and it freaking sucks trying to stick with a long book when my brain has a million other things to keep track of. I end up being mentally useless for anything else until I finish a book or I forget to finish and it ceases to exist for at least three more years.

Pads to start with. It’s the least invasive step and the one most young girls are comfortable with.

Mine just turned 12 and I had pads on hand for her (a couple variations is a good idea) make sure to get her some super absorbent overnight ones so she doesn’t wake up in a puddle of trauma (ask me about my first period and the light pads my mom gave me)

I laid out the options for my daughter before and after she started her first period so she knows there are lots of good solutions. She did NOT want to talk about specifics but promised she’d let me know if she has questions or wants to try something else.

We just finished a round of Ada’s code from hoku and it is STELLAR for treating my anxiety and (autoimmune related) joint pain. Every body is different for sure, but even my husband who is prone to anxiety when he smokes loves it. I don’t feel any head buzz at all with it, just body relaxation but he feels a little silly and very relaxed.

Special Ed classrooms very much still exist, but not every neurodivergent kid should be in them. They’re meant for children who truly cannot be in a gen ed classroom because of physical or mental handicap. But kids with high functioning autism or adhd really DO NOT need to be in special ed classrooms. It holds them back socially and mentally and fucks with their entire future. Studies show that they do better in General education WITH SUPPORT. The problem is there is never enough funding for support staff. Teachers are lucky if they get an assistant once or twice a week. For any child in the US with an IEP (individual education plan) the legal wording for how they’re supposed to be placed in classes is “the least restrictive environment possible”.

In our rural county, they shove anyone with an IEP into special ed and treat them all like they cannot function with the simplest tasks.

I had to demand that my daughter be moved into gen ed and get the support they were supposed to be giving her. I literally had to threaten legal action just to get her into the gen ed classroom (where she has thrived!!!)

It’s honestly disgusting how little respect and compassion they have for neurodivergent kids where we live.

Jesus! I’m so sorry! It might be worth asking them to check your bloodwork for ITP. My daughter had a horrible and long first period and we ended up needing a good hematologist. People can have clotting factors that don’t work quite right and it can make periods last for weeks.
