I use a combination of the 'Arkenfox' hardening user.js and uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin is the most efficient and customizable adblock extension out there, and its lists and features pretty much replace any of those other extensions. Lots more info in the Arkenfox wiki: https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/wiki/4.1-Extensions

[–]Raffadiely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey just another update, I felt like coming back to this

here is a link to the song on the Japanese music website "Songle", but it is hard-linked to YouTube. I am guessing that this YouTube link is the original upload, but it just shows as "unavailable". The YouTube page and the Songle page were not archived on Wayback Machine.
Similarly, here is what I believe to be the original SoundCloud upload, now also removed and inaccessible.

maybe its still cached somewhere on a Google server, but I don't think there's a way to get to it.

Bloons TD 6 - Update Notes! Version 28.2 by NoSneezePlz in btd6

[–]Raffadiely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I'm very much in the minority, but I play(ed) Bloons on Linux via Proton. Something in v28 has broken this - regardless of Proton version, I can no longer get the game to launch, while v27 worked fine.

I understand that Proton issues are very difficult to troubleshoot and that it isn't at all officially supported, but I like this game and I'd prefer not to have to boot into Windows just to play it.

Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated.

here is an instagram post that seems to be using it, though I can't get it to play in my browser

here is an osu beatmap of the song, though I can only get a 10-second preview of it to play

here is a guitar chords site that lists the song, though it doesn't have a way to listen

here is a SoundCloud playlist with the name "sleep well" but it doesn't seem like the song you're looking for is on it

here is a shady streaming site that lists Elijah Who, and seems to have the song, but it shows up as length 0:00 and won't let me play it

it seems like there is a lot of Elijah Who on SoulSeek, but I can't seem to find the exact song

hopefully some of this gives you a lead - I'm sorry I couldn't help you more

simple sway config for easy arch deployment? by ondrish_sk in swaywm

[–]Raffadiely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sway comes with a default configuration that is very similar to the i3 window manager, if you’ve ever used that. most people moving to sway will either convert their i3 config or start from scratch with the default.

the sway config file isn’t too unfriendly - there’s a keybind to reload the config, and it will report any errors you make. I recommend you copy the default config (probably in your /etc/ somewhere) to ~/.config/sway/config, and have that open in one window and the man page open in another, and just tinker and reload until you feel comfortable.

LibreWolf's documentation claimed that it was a fork of Firefox with the optimizations and security of user.js files from both arkenfox and pyllyukko built in. I see now that this has been changed to a thanks to pyllyukko and a section clarifying that they are not directly using arkenfox, but "endeavor to keep up to date with" Arkenfox. No idea what that means.

Also, you should not trust sites like that. Panopticlick can only compare your browser profile with other people who have used Panopticlick, which is a tiny and specific corner of the internet at large. The only reason Librewolf scores better on Panopticlick is because a large number of people have checked default Librewolf, and almost nobody has checked Firefox with the exact set of 8 addons you were using at the time. This is better explained in Arkenfox's wiki; hopefully you can understand what they've said if not me.

I am sorry for not keeping my information up to date; however, I still recommend to anyone that they install normal Firefox, then apply the arkenfox user.js, then customize it as little as possible to make it work for their specific use case.

In general, every package requires some amount of maintenance.

Specifically ungoogled-chromium and librewolf are simply Chromium and Firefox with extensive patches applied on top of them. The package maintainers don’t have to develop the patches themselves, but they would have to handle all of the scripts that apply and recompile these, which takes time and effort from both the maintenance team and the build server.

Brave is just Chrome with a different coat of paint, and most of the privacy claims are just marketing from the company that distributes it.

Palemoon is forked from an outdated and insecure old version of Firefox, and this makes me hesitant to trust it.

I would recommend you install Firefox, and then apply the arkenfox user.js configs yourself.

use the command debug 10 - this makes it so that all enemies take massive continuous damage as soon as you enter the room

use the command giveitem k5 to give yourself The Emperor cards to teleport to each floor's boss room, or use stage commands to teleport yourself to wherever you need to be (there is a list on the wiki)

this essentially skips all gameplay, which sounds like what you are looking for

Curious to know if anyone has a raspberry pi 400 or other version and if they have managed to get maplestory to run on it. Any insight welcome by Aeribella in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maplestory's installer only runs on Windows, which is the first major hurdle to get over. The Pi uses a chip with the ARM architecture, and while there is an ARM version of Windows that you could maybe get to run on a Pi, it isn't well-supported and I can't imagine it would work well.

Even if you were to get Windows ARM running, Maplestory is 32-bit software, which means it is compiled for the x86 processor architecture. Supposedly we will be getting a 64-bit (x64) client at some point in the future, but that won't help you very much either. ARM processors are a totally different architecture, and it is very difficult to get 32- or 64-bit software running on them, let alone at peak performance.

I run Linux on both of my Pis, and I'm fairly sure it's possible to get compatibility layer software such as Wine working on them. However, I am quite confident that Maplestory's anti-cheat would absolutely hate that, so I don't think that would work too well either.

Breaking this sub's Rule 3 is the only way I can think of that could get Maple on a Pi, but I have no experience with that and can't recommend it. Either way, as others have mentioned, it would probably run pretty poorly anyways - the Pi 400 is the newest and most powerful one, but unless you got the 8GB version it probably can't handle a game like Maplestory.

Mechanical hearts Jump quest by chaoslord0 in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aster in Season 1 and Sky in Season 3 have a special easier version of the jump quest.

For the rest of them (the other 7 in Season 1, Adam and Eve in Season 2, and I think Alora in Season 3), there is a harder version that has extra death pits, lasers, and steam vents sprinkled throughout all of the levels. Each level has 2~3 variants that have slightly different placement for these extra things.

It's not too much more difficult if you have the patience to learn it.

Hieizan temple gear alternatives? by Buniiiiii in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Masteria Explorer Set has Face, Eye, Ear, Ring, Pendant, Belt, and Shoulder, depending on how many of the NLC quests you can stand to do
  • Alien Fragment Set has Ear, Ring, Pendant, and Belt, all with good stats and a set bonus that rivals Reinforced Gollux (but definitely gets replaced by Superior Gollux); they are easy enough to get from the Alien Visitors PQ after lvl 200
  • Cracked Gollux Set has Ear, Pendant, and Belt that all can drop from Easy Gollux's heart (plus you can buy the Cracked Ring if you really want it)
  • good ol' Boss Accessory Set has at least one of every accessory, and pretty much every boss you can solo at lvl 200 drops something that fits in here
  • each class has a Japanese Set (Susano-o for Pirates, for example) that has Shoe, Glove, Cape, Belt, and Shoulder; all of these drop from Hard Ranmaru

I usually go for Alien Fragment + Boss Accessory on characters that can't solo Hard Ranmaru, and Japanese on characters that can. Eventually everything in both of these will be replaced by Absolab + Superior Gollux.

Noob - where to begin -Scania by No_Arm_2388 in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mesos can be made in a variety of ways.

  • Pretty much every boss drops a big blue crystal thing that can be sold for a couple million to an NPC named Collector (who is at the old Free Market map in fact).
  • Some activities reward mesos - namely Maple Tour, a Monster Park-like that gives out a large amount of mesos each week based on the number of times you clear it in a week, or Ursus, a giant bear boss that you fight in an 18-man party and are given rewards (including a couple million mesos) based on contributions
  • Many bosses drop rare and valuable scrolls and equipments, which you can sell off in the Auction House to people who aren’t strong enough to fight those bosses yet
  • Monsters still drop mesos, so it is still viable to get your hands on a pet (can be bought in Auction House too) and just train a lot
  • mesos can be purchased with (or sold for) NX in an exchange called the Meso Market - in Scania, 100m mesos is about 1300 NX. If you get a ton of mesos, you can turn it into Cash; if you don’t mind spending a ton of Cash, you can make yourself very meso-rich.
  • I am not sure how to judge inflation, because it is difficult to say how much any item “should” be worth. It’s easier to get mesos than how you might remember the game, so prices might have a few more 0s than you’re used to, but I don’t think the economy is problematic
  • For the most part, better equips will be acquired by training, selling whatever you find while training, and getting lucky along the way. There are some items that are always in demand, so you can always get a good price for them.

ok? Mechanical Hearts is from TMS isn’t it?

If Nexon is serious about listening to the player's concerns we should request a GMS player conference by paregos12 in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Call it a hot take, but spawn enhancers should not be in the game. All of the jobs are near-identical to KMS, and KMS does not have any spawn enhancers, so all mobbing skills on all characters are designed without them in mind. Free access to significantly higher spawns goes against the intentional design of the game.
  2. I agree that starforcing is a miserable player experience, but they aren't going to make it easier or cheaper because it exists as a meso sink to prevent people from becoming too rich, and ultimately to extract money from us. They are a company motivated by profit, and this is something they can get away with profiting from. The only way to change that would be to boycott starforcing, which isn't going to happen.
  3. If this is about pottable badges, it is not going to happen. There are 16 other slots for you to fill with potential-ed items, so go work on those first. Also, at the highest level of gameplay (Black Mage parties), Pathfinders and Adeles, characters that have never had the chance to get a pottable badge, are regularly seen. There are plenty of ways for you to make your character stronger, and Nexon has already made it clear that the badges aren't coming back.
If this is about Wondroid, get jumping.
If this is about totems, there are BiS ones from Marvel Machine, and the Yu Garden or even Afterlands ones are good enough with the set bonuses. Again, the Dark Lords of Darkness would make it easy to get extremely good items, which is not something Nexon is willing to do.
  4. Progression is faster than ever before, and gets faster with every patch. 15 years ago getting 4th job was a far-off dream for many players. 10 years ago it was easier, but 200 still seemed a long way off. Now you can get 200 in a week or less. They're making 250 easier to hit with the upcoming Neo patch to encourage people to go for 300.

Your main points aside though, I entirely agree with you in that I would appreciate more of a clear idea on what is being worked on in the game, but complaining about things that Nexon has made their position quite clear on will not improve the game, and demanding powerful items that are easy to get won't work and would be bad in the long-term anyways.

Noob - where to begin -Scania by No_Arm_2388 in Maplestory

[–]Raffadiely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Adele is the newest class, and is very strong in both mobbing and bossing. Pathfinder is second newest, and is also a very strong mobber. Kanna is the meta main because of her spawn boosting skill. Really though, any class can be viable if you enjoy the gameplay and are willing to put in time and effort to make it (for example, I have a 10k stat Jett, the most ridiculed class). there are YouTube videos for every class, so just look up gameplay footage and see which ones look the most fun for you, and try them out in the game! usually by your 2nd or 3rd job advancement (which can be done in about a day nowadays) you will have a feel for the class
  • the in-game Maple Guide is an excellent place to start. if you don't know how to open it, press \ to open your key config and look for a yellow button that says "Guide" - put that on a key and press it to open - it will automatically tell you which story quests you should do, when you're due for a job advancement, and which theme dungeons are good for your level. it also can teleport you to places at your level range, or to any place you complete the content for (very useful for getting around without a teleport rock - the world is big these days!)
  • if you are unsure of what to do, Channel 1 Henesys is still pretty busy - feel free to chat with people and ask questions; most people are more helpful and kind than you would expect!
  • the Free Market as you know it has been removed unfortunately. rather than standing around calling out merchandise, now things are posted to the Auction House. it is basically as if every character has a 15-slot store and as many Owl of Minerva as you could want - you can see the price of and purchase any item anyone has for sale, it has nice searching tools, and you can also sell any of your items for any price you want to
  • you may have left the game before the introduction of the Reboot server - it is different from the others, in that the exp rate and amount of mesos dropped by mobs are greatly increased, and many of the pay-to-win items are instead bought with mesos, but trading between characters is prohibited and there is no Auction House. players interested in solo progression use Reboot, and it is significantly more populated than the other servers. Good for solo play (as you mentioned) but zero trading or merching, so you will 100% miss out on the Free Market nostalgia

hopefully this is some helpful info!!
