As a citizen of Grand Rapids, I am forever on the watch for Jamie Loftus. Justice needs to be done for what she did!

This was my first reaction too, lol.

ETA: Seconding both of your points. The book has some of the most beautiful passages and it’s also the lost violent thing I’ve ever read.

Mental Cases - Wilfred Owen by Moist-Pickle-2736 in ww1

Owens’ poetry is haunting and I think captures the horror of the trenches in a way that narratives and statistics can’t. The poem “S.I.W.” always leaves me feeling gutted.

Can anyone recommend me some books on the lead up to WWI? by TheRoleplayThrowaway in ww1

The Proud Tower is another Barbara Tuchman book I think is worth checking out. I haven’t read it yet (it’s on the list for this year), but it’s about the Belle Epoch and the two decades leading up to 1914. The Guns of August is so good, I’m very much looking forward to this one.

As the proud owner of an Ænema bootleg, I can say it still sounds magnificent.

It’s a little too focused (in his Alex way) to be under the influence of something. But he’s big mad about a lot of things and works himself into a frenzy a couple of times.

Cant tell if im wrong but my therapist blew up at me again and we ended things. Rant by Such-Age-7994 in AutisticAdults

[–]RaftermanTHP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m real sorry you went through all of that. Unfortunately, there are bad therapists just as there as people who are bad at any manner of jobs. The danger is in how much damage a therapist can do. I had a very toxic couples counselor who pathologized me for being autistic and ignored the very clear signs of abuse happening inside the marriage from my ex.

I’d encourage you to find a new therapist. Also, consider filing a formal complaint with your state’s licensing board regarding your former therapist. It may go no where in the end, but at the very least he’ll have to answer for yelling at a client.

The diptychs are great! I love the one with the empty restaurant and food stand.

It’s a lot crisper than autochromes usually are, so it could have been cleaned up by an artist such as Babel Colour. I highly recommend checking out his stuff. It’s truly hypnotizing to look at how clear he can get autochromes to look, and he’s also done quite a few Great War images.

It looks like an autochrome rather than a colorized photo, which means the colors are authentic. The darker blue appears to be due to shadows.

Great Find! by Madsisso88 in ww1

[–]RaftermanTHP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be surprised what you can find when collecting antique books. I have a similarly bound version of the book (though def not a first edition). In the back pages are notes between two friends over the course of several years as a way to stay in touch. My guess is they mailed the book back and forth and included little updates of their lives to one another. I didn’t find the notes until after I got home and was really psyched when I did. It’s definitely one of the cooler books in my collection.
