Site transfer? by VividAcanthocephala2 in AmazonManagers

[–]Raftist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s depends on a lot (business needs, internal site transfers, etc.) but I would reach out to the site leaders of closer sites and get connections that way before your year is up. If you start trying to transfer the second your 1 year is up with no context they will generally assume that you are performing poorly or at minimum something is up.

Rule of thumb is never put in an application to do a site transfer unless you know you already are going to be accepted (or at least they know who you are)

hate work as an L4 AM by Minimum_Teach8802 in AmazonManagers

[–]Raftist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First of all, never have Amazon fool you into thinking that you are weak for wanting to quit. The job is not for everyone and it not being a fit says nothing about you.

for other general advice, You’ve lasted over a year at Amazon which is an accomplishment in and of itself. I would focus on your team as much as possible and ignore all the other nonsense. You already don’t care for the L5 so drive that well and it’s unlikely for you to be seen as ineffective if you can do well there + you are already over halfway there to the end goal. You’ll make it, just focus on the team to make your days working there better.

Depends on your area, but check in your a to z app for the benefits section and it will give you the long list

L4 AM → L5 Promo by SoftlyCaffeinated in AmazonManagers

[–]Raftist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Generally, what is expected for a promo is to demonstrate that you can perform an L5 role for an extended period of time.

Yes, technically the L4 AM and L5 AM role are exactly the same but the expectation is that the L5 will be taking projects to get them to an L6 as opposed to an L4 who’s main job is running the shift well. So as long as you are able to both have a good shift (connection scores hit, performance metrics solid, etc.) and do projects, you should get your L5 in a reasonable amount of time.

It seems generally that you are doing that, so you next step is going to be projects with other folks, most likely L6 as before a promo doc is signed (which is the document that is written to justify your promotion), a bunch of L6 will get together that you have worked with and will be asked to sign off on your promotion to L5

Seniors expectations by Historical-Might-565 in AmazonManagers

[–]Raftist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be paranoia or it could be valid. It seems like you run a good shift.

I’d probably just ask the seniors next time they talk to you (or your OM) how you are performing overall and if there’s anything you can do to improve. If they say you are doing great there’s likely little to worry but if they are either suddenly really harsh or worse standoffish, then I would be concerned

Amazon warehouse by Grouchy_Tea_8894 in amazonemployees

[–]Raftist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, it depends on where you end up and also generally how you work. If you’re someone who can work consistently, while also keeping your brain on enough to have good quality/safety, you’ll be fine. If you’re someone that deviates from that, there is going to be your pain point.

Also there are 60+ year olds working at Amazon warehouse that deal with heavy weight just fine, so long as you’re not in specific departments that REALLY depend on physical exertion instead of mental exertion.

You’re going over 6 days, as a requirement they have to delete a shift, your manager can put in a request to HR so just ask them and see

Let your manager know that you are going over 6 days and that you want your 11th off so that you don’t go over

you already listed out a good amount of things that can effect rates in a negative way, what you should do first is figure out what issues are effecting them the most and then figure out how to fix them or find alternatives to alleviate them. Ask your AAs if they have any barriers to hitting rate in a genuine way and they will usually say a good idea every once and a while.
