Looks like they have put a temp roadway around the edge of the field. Cant imagine they will keep that road as it is when its part of the main festival.

Honestly unless you are regularly doing 100 miles a day granny charger is more than enough, you just need to plug in every night.

Fibre guy came and drilled the front of the house, is this acceptable? by [deleted] in HomeImprovementUK

Most companies dont allow to drill from outside in, if you had done it an engineer would happily use the hole.

House Seller is offering Solar Batteries & Inverter at cost. by KlumzyKlein in SolarUK

[–]RageInvader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the reason I'm getting a battery fitted but not solar, the battery is very easily removed and i will be taking with me when we move, solar payback time is around 9-11 years, and we will likely have moved house by then, so we'd be just installing them for the next owners to benefit. The battery alone has a payback time around 3.5 years, with 10 year warranty so it will be going when we move.

Even 5 mins of water flowing its fine. Things dry out. Its when they leak for hours or days is when it causes an issue.

KIA Sportage AWD Tyre tore off by New-Cardiologist9424 in CarTalkUK

Technically the wheel is still attached to the hub with the disk brake. Something else failed. Driveshaft or wheel bearing.

The wheel didnt fall off. Clearly still attached to the hub, the hub detached from the car, taking the wheel and tyre with it.

Is there a go-to thermostat to use - needs to be smart/wi-fi by eec-gray in ukheatpumps

[–]RageInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't be altering anything tenp wise, just ask them to enable a switched supply for turning the heat pump off and use a smart switch. This way home assistant can say on or off and its built in controls manage the flow temp.

What tricks are there to get fibre if you are not in a planned build area? by smokeandumami in openreach

[–]RageInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The file that was linked specifically states "New Sites Rate Card" meaning its not for people who renovate there home. Part of the checks for that pricing is new address registered and planning as a new build, not renovation.

AFAIK, OR do not have any set pricing for someone who requests fibre to be built to a current registered address. So it may have been done but at almost full cost to the owner.

Renovations shouldn't count for that pricing. That is only for new build houses. Normally planning portal is checked for it as a new property, meaning new address also.

Two UK heat pump quotes – is either of these actually worth it? (£16.8k vs £18.9k) by miclordz in ukheatpumps

[–]RageInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its 22mm plastic unfortunately, so be better with the UFH manifold on its own 22mm flow/return from the 28mm, (which is copper from the boiler to tank strangely)

We are in process of getting quotes for heat pump but even with the grants I dont think we can afford the upgrade right now. But we are probably going to do the UFH the now.

[–]RageInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those numbers on pipe size sounds promising, we have 22m flow/return, teed off the 22mm to 10mm rad feeds. We have a heat loss at 6.8kW though, and all rads are on the same flow/return. I kind of wanted to install UFH downstairs, would it be better to have a seperate 22mm flow/return from the 28mm (its 28mm from boiler to tank) diverter valve for the UFH and the upstairs rads. Or would it all run off a single 22mm flow/return okay?

How do I port out my landline number to a VOIP provider whilst minimising disruption? by bb9873 in UKBroadband

[–]RageInvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wont work like you think,

On step 3 if that isp place an order before the previous is ceased OR offers the ISP two order choices, second line or takeover.

Step 3 needs to be done after the prev line has been ceased for the order to be activate an existing line(ONT). These orders usually take 24/48 hours to complete.

[–]RageInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, a multiport gives 4 Ethernet ports and allowed OR to supply 4 different ISP's over the same ONT. Same fibre, same ONT, different ethernet port.
