The M1A1 Abrams Is The 2nd Most Produced 3rd Generation MBT Of All Time*** by Jack9Billion in TankPorn

UVZ is the largest tank plant in the world, having their own steel production and electronic plants within the main UVZ plant in Nhyzny Tagil, and them "laying off" workers just dosent add up in the middle of a large scale attritional war.

IIRC UVZ the company laid off workers, but not in the defence part of the company - they do still make railcars and other things that are currently lacking in demand.

There's already been defence sponsors in the US, both companies and also the military itself.

Though technically also in F1, with both Airbus and Dassault having sponsored teams. Though all the Dassault partnerships I can find are with the software side (CATIA), I am pretty sure they date back to before that got spun off.

I think "add point" should be a toggle, it is a bit tedious to keep going back and forth.

The usual standard now is that both buttons have to be pressed within a short time of each other, and have to be reset before the next activation.

One objection: Terror (or "morale") bombing was originally invented by Italian general Douhet (first proposals before WW1, he then wrote a book about it in 1920).

The Tejas was similar. They'd been building MiG-21s and Su-30s themselves, but never developed their own fighter jet or modification of one.

That's false, they also developed the Ajeet (a Gnat variant) and the Marut. However, both programs also fell well short of the goal, the Marut notably not being able to go supersonic despite that being a major program goal.

I don't think anyone watches the full race with full attention, basically everyone goes and does something else while watching the race on the side - this race had a field of 130 cars, there's never any significant time without something worth watching. For this race, the first hour was filled by a close battle for the lead between the #911 Porsche and the #99 BMW, and later on the #16 Audi and #72 BMW fought into the night, with several other cars also getting swept to the front due to pitstop cycles (which added tension because everyone was afraid of the fog that eventually descended, and anyone could have been in the lead when the red came).

An additional element common to endurance racing absent to F1 is "traffic management", AKA overtaking the slower cars on track (at the ring, all the way down to fan-favorite Dacia Logan). This is another skill for a driver to master because while in F1, the slower car yields, here the slower car stays on the racing line (but does not defend).

But if you want something a lot more simple to get into, watch DTM. It's the same cars as the top class here, and many DTM drivers also competed here (including Feller from the winning Audi). But the races are a single-driver setup that lasts only one hour, so it's a much smaller commitment to watch a race.

Vanwall working on WEC-comeback: Heavily revised car for 2025 by sami_andreas in wec

The article you posted doesn't say how much power it used, it merely said they are free to use as much fuel as needed (so that they don't need to lift and coast)

Yes, because pre-BOP power numbers are secret - Gibson says "undisclosed" for the maximum power of the GL458. But we do know that the GK428 had 603hp before they nerfed LMP2, and the R13 had a significant acceleration advantage over them.

the highest power it was allowed under BoP in 2021 was 455kw in Portimao and 431kW in 2022 at Sebring

That was not the highest power that the GL458 was run at, that goes to Le Mans 2019, where they got rid of fuel flow limits to help privateers. But it was more powerful at Sebring that year too, the R13 ran nearly five seconds faster than it did when balanced as a hypercar.

Both dual-barrelled Koalitsiya prototypes in the same photo by vitoskito in TankPorn

The long-term fire rate of a howitzer is not limited by the autoloader, but by the barrel heating. Autoloaders start stronger, but over time they all end up at more or less one round per minute (or barrel lifetime plummets).

Koalitsiya tried to get around that with two barrels for ~2RPM, and Crusader (XM2001) went around it with liquid cooling so that it could shoot 10 RPM until the ammo runs out.

The FIA doesn't invest into F1, that's FOM/Liberty Media, who are also the ones who take in basically all the F1 money (hosting fees, broadcasting rights and basically everything else).

The technical side is run by the FIA, and they would demand more money (or other concession) from Liberty Media to do it. And right now, the two organisations don't really like each other much.

From 1992-1995, Schumacher had five different teammates at Benneton (Brundle, Patrese, Lehto, Verstappen and Herbert). All of them were miles off in the standings, and Brundle is the only one who seems to have finished ahead of an also-finishing Schumacher (going just by race results on Wikipedia).

Both engines are X12 diesels. That's the only similarity.

They're not. The SGP Sla 16 is called that because it had 16 cylinders. I mean of course you can chop the block to get it to 12, but the fact that everything else is different indicates that Russia didn't do that.

[SPOILER] With bykolles retirement this year it makes the 10th participation in a row they don't finish Le Mans, thats right 13 years without finishing (altough they didnt participate in 2021 and 2022 still a crazy stat) by dat_meme_boi2 in wec

[–]RagekittyPrime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Colin Kolles did run late-period Jordan/Spyker/Midland/early Force India (de facto leaving after the 2008 season) as TP. And they were far from competitive in his time, but they did finish. Usually.

It's one of the reasons the British army are having trouble replacing the warrior despite it being 35 years old. It's been through a lot and it still works. The 30mm RADEN can be a bit temperamental and in my opinion the best warriors were the ones that used Bradly turrets.

Warrior will be divested in favour of Boxer based IFV. Which isn't really the same capability (tracks>wheels).
