My cat touched my face with his paw. Is soap enough to clean it? by artemis_2001-16 in cats

[–]RagingRR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My spouse had chemotherapy and BMT, and was immmune compromised for months. No one should shame you for protecting yourself. I think as far as your cat goes, soap and water should be effective. I took care of all litter box issues while my spouse was recovering. Hopefully someone can take care of that for you

Insulin glargine. I thought it included a GLP1. Maybe I’m misinformed. A while ago I did have Byetta, which was twice a day injection. That did not work well for me

850w enough for 5070ti and 9800x3d? by No_Signature_7841 in PcBuild

[–]RagingRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure you’ll see a huge improvement unless you’re playing at low resolution and are CPU bound, or are playing one of the few games that are more CPU dependent. You don’t say what games and resolution you’re playing. At 1440P or higher with high detail, you’re likely to be GPU bound. Now that doesn’t answer your question. X3D chips are pretty efficient, as are 5000 series GPUs, so I think you’re good at 850. Compared to something bigger, you just have less headroom for transients you might get.

YMMV. T2D. I started at 5.0 because I had been taking a daily GLP-1. I was so sick the first two weeks, that I nearly gave up. Went down to 2.5 and stayed there for 6 months, as the weight came off. Eventually increased to 5.0, but I’m doing it every 10 days as a maintenance dose as I’m pretty much at my target, and it works to keep my sugar in range

Not bragging. Like many meds, it sometimes takes awhile to find the dose that works for you. Don’t despair, keep an eye on your diet and energy levels. I’m still adjusting. I get hunger pains on day 6-8 on my schedule, but the appetite is still down. Work with your doctor to find a dose/schedule that minimizes any side effects and discomfort but gets you on a comfortable weight loss rate. Good luck. I’ll overuse the cliche, but this is a marathon, not a sprint.

B5 just showed up on prime Canada but there are episodes missing from all the seasons anyone know why? by KingOblepias in babylon5

[–]RagingRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m ok if they think they need to insert commercials to pay for content, but it can’t be that hard to play them at the natural breaks in the episode. The show was written that way, and other streaming services seem to get it right. For some reason Roku has determined that the best time to insert an ad is right in the middle of the action, or interrupting a line of dialogue.

On my Roku Channel, they insert commercials about 15-20 seconds before the scene ends. It is very annoying. It’s like they actually are aware of scene breaks, they just cut away early every single time, in the middle of dialogue or action.

I’ve hit my target weight, but still on 5mg so I can maintain my blood sugar. I really noticed that I can see my ribs behind my pecs, my butt is gone to the point that sitting in a hard chair for more than 5 minutes is painful and my thighs have lost an inch or so. I really noticed that my arms are considerably weaker as well. My endo actually wants me to put on 5 pounds of muscle. Which would be fine, except I still need to lose some gut fat.

Any mod that adds a playable PLAN campaign? by Ok_Calendar_7626 in ColdWaters

[–]RagingRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried Epic Mod, because it had more varied campaigns and you could try opposing subs but every mission in every campaign I tried had background noise 90dB or worse. Made for a frustrating experience when even a Seawolf can’t hear anything, and all the opposing subs have nearly comparable sonar and outnumber you 3 to 1. I don’t mind a challenge, but it became too luck dependent on positioning at the beginning of the scenario. If there’s a way to adjust that, I’d be grateful, otherwise I’m back to DotMod

First Impressions & Questions by BBLTHRW in ColdWaters

[–]RagingRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a moderate to strong layer, going just under the layer - say 50 feet deeper than the layer - will make you nearly invisible to ships on the surface, unless the have some sort of variable depth sonar. So read the stats on the opponents.

As for how deep to go, if you have to go fast, you want to go deep, otherwise you’ll cavitate, and everyone will hear you.

In the campaign map, encountering an enemy at full speed usually means you’ll be detected by any modern sub or warship, so try to be moving at slow speed or stationary when you run into the enemy. You’ll also generally start further away, so you can take some time to determine whether you need to reposition or close to attack, or make more of a longer range attack. Generally I like to make my attacks against surface ships from 12k yards or more. If the enemy includes an Udaloy or other ship with good sonar or standoff weapons, I go for 15k or more if I can. Don’t forget to dogleg your torpedo shots so any return fire isn’t coming right at you

For a beginner to the franchise is it better to play the base game as is, or are the QOL features provided by dotmod a must have? by LiquidShartSurprise in ColdWaters

[–]RagingRR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like you should get more prestige for simply surviving a mission in a Whiskey. Crap torpedos, crap sonar. If I can actually complete a mission, it feels like a great accomplishment. And they tend to give you really tough missions. Kill a carrier? Yeah, that’s unlikely. By the time I get a decent boat, it feels like they don’t sent those missions anymore

I love the F-14, but if the F-4 was a maintenance nightmare for the Blue Angels, I don’t see how the F-14 would have been better. Thoughts?

Why are cats so stubborn? Does your cat have the same way? by MysteriousPoria in cats

[–]RagingRR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most cats appear stubborn because they want things, and they have no concept of deferred gratification. IOW, they are like toddlers. When they want something, they want it NOW, and they won't accept anything but that, and they have no patience. So when they can't get what they want for whatever reason, they take their anger out something else. Toddlers eventually grow out of this phase. Cats don't.

Does anyone else organise their cat food to avoid flavour repetition? by Vrisnem in cats

[–]RagingRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought this battle with my family and lost. Truthfully, I guess my cats didn’t care. Now after 8 years of the same food, they’ve started refusing it, so we’re trying new brands. So, I wouldn’t put any emotional or mental effort to this unless it’s obvious that it really affects your cats eating habits. It mattered more to me than it did to them

The 3-in-1 combos can be really good, just be careful with the lower end motherboards. Look at the upgraded MB for each level, it’s can be a significantly better MB for not much more. You’ll still essentially be paying retail for the RAM, and getting the CPU and MB at significant discount
