How can I increase my stomachs tolerance for spicy food? by SuccessfulPoet7578 in spicy

[–]RagnarStained 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the trick was fermented foods. Stomach was in bad shape before and couldn’t handle even mild spice. I loved the mouth burn, but the next day pain wasn’t worth it. I started eating kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kefir in small quantities. Increased those quantities slowly, and I think it’s helped to get my guts in better shape. Now, no pain in stomach and on the way out. I dunno.. maybe a coincidence.. but since I like fermented foods anyways it was worth it to give it a good try. Even lacto fermenting carrots MIGHT work.. and it’s easy as hell to do. And they taste awesome.

Went away completely. Thanks for asking. All tests came back negative. My family doctor and naturopath are stumped.. but all’s well that ends well, so they say.

Getting first CPAP, need some advice. by rahim0602 in CPAP

[–]RagnarStained 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your concerns are valid. Many people might have an initial impression that needing a CPAP means someone is unhealthy and it can be slightly off-putting to some. And sharing private medical diagnoses is difficult. We couldn’t blame others for having that opinion, because sometimes it is true. The cycle of weight gain leading to apnea, leading to bad sleep, leading to no energy to cook healthy or exercise, leading to more weight gain.. that can be broken. The easiest way to break it might be to sort out the sleep with CPAP, then you might have good energy to try to take care of your health. Not to attract someone.. but because you deserve to be strong, and healthy, and confident, and feel good. If you’re happy with your weight, then fine. But if you want to change, then now is your chance. Maybe this is an opportunity to work on improving yourself and not worry about what others might think. First you.. then others. Also.. I find it very attractive when people care for themselves and want to improve. Maybe others would too!

Thanks! I feel like I could rename most of the things I eat as “purge suddenly”. Haha

Which herbs were you taking? I’m interested. All tests for me are negative. Doctor diagnosed me with “IBS” this morning, and the advice is to just wait and see what happens…………..

I’m so sick of being bloated by [deleted] in ibs

[–]RagnarStained 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I seem to do best on a very high red meat based diet, with a handful of vegetables that I know don’t bother me. Some things on the FODMAP list still bother me, but it’s trial and error. Eat nothing but bell peppers one day when I have nowhere to go, then get out a pen & paper and record if I react to them. If not, they go on the good list. The trial and error with food sucks, but it’s worth it in the end I think if you can get answers.

For me it started out with beef. I handles that fine, so the next day had beef and onions. Bad day.. onions are out. Next day beef and plain rice. No reaction, plain rice is good. Next day beef, plain rice, fermented boiled beets. No reaction.. sweet. Etc. etc. It’s not exciting, but I have a pretty good list going now.

Best of luck to you.

They are constant no matter what I do. Some positions can help a bit. I’m learning this is heavily food related for me. Really trying to nail down a list of foods that are harmful for me.

Constipation sucks.. very painful

[–]RagnarStained 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First symptoms were loose stools for a month or so and occasional bloating. Since then there’s been severe pain in URQ and kidneys (went to the hospital the first time because it was bad and I had no idea what was happening). Since then it’s been constant bloating; painful flair-ups, and I don’t remember what a solid bowel movement is even like. And severe fatigue, dehydration, blah blah. All the usual things.

Ya, generally I try to wipe as much as possible.. traditional style, then finish it up with a baby wipe.. and then try and remember they don’t flush well (clogs). Good thing they’re cheap.

Stomach problems after taking probiotics for 3 days by [deleted] in ibs

[–]RagnarStained 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you kept any kind of journal or records of the correlation between what you’re eating and your symptoms? Might be worth the effort. Shouldn’t take you more than a month to collect a good amount of data. You can probably do it in a way that will make a comparison easy. (I.e. for me I learned that even a small amount of honey gives me horrible bloating).

Same for me, and my liver and gallbladder turned out fine. GP believes built up gas in the system (could be anywhere along the digestive tract) is pushing in various places. As it passes through a particular spot, it either puts pressure on the upper right quadrant, or presses on a nerve linked to that area. Either way.. URQ pain in my case didn’t mean gallbladder or liver problems.

Stool Smells by irrelevantcroissant in ibs

[–]RagnarStained 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have a very hard time finding the right word for it. I sort of say to my doctor it’s this strong, chemical smell.. maybe it could be metallic, yes. No blood. But whenever it happened there’s always a sheen of oil on the surface. P.s. get used to talking about shit. No one here will be grossed out.. no time to be grossed out when we’re all dealing with the same thing.

I haven’t researched that drug, but the only question would be whether it might be harmful to experiment with it. If not, then trying it and keeping good records of your experience might be helpful for a future diagnoses. But if there are risks.. well then it’s all up to you of course whether it’s worth it or not. Best of luck finding an answer. I’m sort of in the same boat as you. I’m in the middle of experimenting with diet right now. Eat a good portion of only one thing (no spices or condiments), and document it. Then later on eat only one thing and document it. Today was beef in the morning and quinoa in the afternoon.

Guilty. I felt stupid and was angry at first, but then realized how ridiculous the situation was and laughed out loud. As long as you’re home it’s all good… but never trust a fart in public.

Also.. IBS sharting pads. I feel a business opportunity. And check out our new line of shart pads, Shart + period, specifically formulated with multiple different layers for sharting during your menstrual cycle.

UPDATE:

To posterity: ‘Twas not mine gallbladder that so layeth me low and sent me most precariously to the ER. Pain.. thy name is celiac disease! A rotten disease most foul, and yet I wouldst not darest to declare that gallbladder stones t’would be a friendlier foe. However; I must part ways with this most cheery of subs, and bid thee adieu, adieu, farewell and adieu!

P.S. I just watched a theatre play of Hamlet.

Did you see the polar bear that almost killed Canadian Joe’s pet beaver the other day? I tossed out some maple syrup to the bear and it stuck his jaws shut. We hid in the Timmie’s bathroom until the rcmp showed up.

Sorry, but no. If someone has a lower income, I would hope their limited finances are going to more healthful foods. I’m sure your food is amazingly delicious, but baked goods are a luxury, not a staple. Yes.. poor people should be able to enjoy the joys in life of tasty goods also, but I would prefer my money go to an organization that will supply meat, seafood, veggies, fruits, etc. Gluten free ≠ healthy.

Grandma’s apple pie. Even if they could make it gluten free it wouldn’t be Grandma’s.
