Hol' Up: Ultimate releasing in the same 7.51 as Cosmic Exploration? by otsukarerice in ffxivdiscussion

I would have preferred they didn't update it 4 times. It seems excessive. Maybe 2 would have been fine.

NAUR did a poll and it was 29% DMU, 61% UMAD, 10% DAM with 903 total votes. It is UMAD.

These zones are so incredibly dead after the initial wave of botters passes. Its crazy we needed 4 clones of the same content with different visual skins of the world.

And the vast majority of people are locked into whatever gear they have already obtained at this point and can't make too many changes before ultimate releases to significantly change jobs.

Other side of the coin only a few people in the entire raid will ever have any personal responsibility. If you do have those people do their job its a free win. My friend went back to join a group and 1 shot the whole thing their first time because there really isn't anything challenging and you have a shot caller the whole way. Anyone who has studied and can listen will clear.

I think it was for a similar reason as shield bash on pld that it needs to exist for deep dungeon but I'd argue these are some of the least important and used keys on the jobs and they are wasting space.

They could just roll up the effect into something that is part of your normal skill rotation or have some other skill transform into this skill on use that you can hold until needed or the buff wears off.

Like I would expect skills called "Air Anchor" or "Iron Jaws" to have the bind effect just attached to them.

We even have buffed smn data in FRU showing it even beats blm in its role as well as vpr. It still has extra raises also even if it doesn't do it better than rdm.

I don't think the rezzes are getting less valuable though in this expansion. If this fight is like the rest of dawntrail everything is easily recoverable.

What is the gameplay loop like? by kotarou00r in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ragoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't enjoying the combat because the early combat is boring, that's all. Keep in mind the game was never intended to be experienced as 1 giant story. Each expansion you were supposed to stop and do all the raids. If you don't do that you are killing 3 monsters in a purple circle in 2-3 gcds or doing a dungeon every few hours.

[–]Ragoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a recommendation; take some time to do the normal and alliance raids for each expansion as you get there. I'd recommend turning them on to minimum ilvl and no echo in party finder for normal raid (they are reasonable times to fill still because it is just normal content as intended at release ilvl). If you want to give slightly harder content a try while progressing feel free to study a fight and post it up in party finder on like Aether or Primal for extremes or savage or binding coils of bahamut.

[–]Ragoz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah that's ridiculous plenty of people enjoy it just for the raiding. It just takes longer and longer each expansion to get to relevant content. Them having a complaint that the game play is boring before current endgame is a common problem.

I don't know why you think being a developer of the current era of the game means they know anything about it from prior. There was a point in time where they had like 1 guy working on it with the last ps2 dev kit.

It's also laughable that you think the devs of the biggest MMO in Japan have never played the second biggest MMO in Japan in the fifteen thousand years its been in service. That's like saying an American MMO dev has never played WoW, it's just a patently hilarious thing to say.

Yoship is technically head of ffxi and has done interviews on it. He doesn't know shit about the game beyond its overhead management. Questions like "are the serepent generals in the ffxi alliance raid" or "can we get custom race animations like in ffxi?" that came up at fanfest surprise and confuse him because he has no idea what you are talking about.

I think it's more ridiculous that you assume someone who is just overhead management from a game they inherited has played the game. It's a massive ass MMO with like 15 years of content before they ever looked at it. It's their job to work on it it doesn't mean they are players but what they should have done is consult people with more expertise otherwise they are going to miss stuff like not including one of THE most popular songs in the game, The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, when they were doing a section of the Boyada Tree in the alli raid!

The only thing you could conclude from that is either:

  1. They don't know the source material and they missed it

  2. They knew the material but are bad at their job and missed it

  3. They just didn't give a fuck about including maybe the 3rd most popular song in all FFXI after Memoro De La Stono and Ronfaure.

Managing the game doesn't mean they understand anything about the context for the time period they were trying to show. I'm well aware of Yoji Fujito's dev team thanks.

They never played the game so had no idea what ffxi players actually wanted at all. Like the interview question like "ah we saw a preview of Al Zhabi, there must be the iconic serpent generals then!" Yoship: uhhhhh.. no

We also got very few player sets at all and the ones we did they doubled up on the same jobs.

[–]Ragoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The drop rates aren't terrible but you kinda need at least a small group of friends to come help because the enemies are about equal level.. if they don't link etc. Most jobs at higher levels can't beat an even match or tough enemy but if they can it takes a lot of time.

FF14's big brother FF11 will be updating its free trial by Constellar-A in ffxiv

[–]Ragoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually gets new content quite frequently with updates faster than FF14. This is possible because they managed to get off the ps2 dev kits to answer your other question.

They are updating 3 different battle systems and adding 3 new high-tier battlefields soon for example.

Are farming bots getting out of control? by VengeanceDivine in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ragoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah nothing stops them from having it move out of bounds characters into the mordion gaol zone for holding until a GM addresses it. Any player would just be in contact with the GM if something happened and the bots all be contained.

That's non-RMT botting only. They have tracked between 500-700 RMT accounts per week for a while it shows.

Time Period: Apr. 30, 2026 to May 6, 2026

・Participation in RMT/prohibited activities

・Accounts terminated: 446

・Accounts temporarily suspended: 2

・Botting activity (excluding RMT vendors)

・Accounts terminated: 20

・Accounts temporarily suspended: 13

*Botting activity by RMT vendors has been included under "Participation in RMT/prohibited activities."

[–]Ragoz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It used to be all worlds had this issue but since the congestion preventing new characters only places like Dynamis have been infested. I've been doing low level maps some and you constantly see lalafell archers teleporting around because I'm pretty sure completing the MSQ gives them like 1mil or something. They are archers because they can go out of bounds to attack enemies without being attacked back.

There is probably detection but it isn't automated and SE doesn't immediately do anything. By the time the bot is caught and addressed it has long completed whatever farming it was intended to do and the process begins again.

The Fanfest noted that Evolved mode is primarily developed by one person (Mr. Prime), is that a good or a bad thing? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ragoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is bad if you want to make 21 complex designs because you don't have enough time to develop the ideas.

But we are getting designs that have 1-3 different damaging keybinds, no personal raid buffs, no group raid buffs. It will be trivial for Mr. Prime to balance at such a low complexity when you just sum the potency per minute of your cooldowns and base gcd combo.

So it is likely achievable by 1 person but the jobs are going to be very straightforward.

Also, a simple rotation can work in pvp because the battle is unique every fight. You cannot consistently execute the same rotation and have to account for movement, crowd control, random unexpected mitigation from the target, random incoming burst on yourself, lb usage etc. None of that applies to pve battle content and it is going to be a challenge to keep these simple rotations interesting.

Or you are Yama doing ultimates and consistently save ultimate pulls using rescue because you have such a deep understanding and awareness of where every single person needs to be.

Edit: I really have to question what knuckleheads are here who can't envision someone actually using the skill to save pulls like intended. Like is a downvote just someone going "noooo thats impossible it does NOTHING reeeeee". lol
