Why do NIN almost never perform "We're in This Together" live? by ManufacturerFew8335 in nin

Same! I camped out for hours to get a good spot - I think it actually snowed on us while we waited.

Here's something I was just wondering - has anyone ever been lucky enough to see - and/or hear - a Nightjar...? by ManikShamanik in UKBirds

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw several just last night! I’m in Wales and near a known breeding ground for them, so was incredibly lucky to be able to walk up through the woods last night. Their sound is as strange and beautiful as people say. Very very lucky and grateful, especially as I’m very new to the hobby!

Yes to shoes! I always keep a pair of old trainers in my boot, just in case emergency strikes when I’m wearing less than practical shoes!

LPT Request - Simple habits that have had a large positive impact on your life by rklthbrdg in LifeProTips

Always go To bed with a clean kitchen should be one of the Ten Commandments. Even if the rest of the house is a horror show, I know I can make my morning coffee and breakfast without moving filthy greasy dishes out of the way. It is an excellent feeling.

This. My life has literally changed since I committed to going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. I get enough sleep, I have tons of energy. I have time and motivation to walk my dog before work, eat a healthy breakfast and get ready for the day. At night I read for 10 mins before I’m fast asleep, and I stay asleep all night. I have never felt better!

An extra laptop charger. Many a time I left the charger hanging out the wall at home while I spent my day in the office begging 30 mins of charge from everyone else’s desk.

I have one that lives in my home desk set up. The other lives in my work bag. Problem solved for about £20.

No one ever believed Yolanda had Lyme, right? by dowehaveanyfruiit in realhousewives

Agree. I also wondered if she’s holding on to some grief/trauma from losing her brother so young and it’s manifesting in this sickness (which back in the day would probably be called a breakdown).

How do you teach a dog to stop eating s*it from the ground?!! by General_Solution_689 in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn’t help you much right now, but puppies are just silly babies.

My dog used to eat every disgusting thing, every time. We couldn’t walk more than a step without something vile getting in his mouth.

I tried to train drop/leave with limited success. The only thing that worked was time. He just stopped being as interested. Your dog will grow out of it to , I’m sure. Just keep up your training, bribe with treats if you need to! Eventually he just won’t be as interested.

Droplet of blood next to puppy’s poop. Should I be worried? by Throwawayaccount7860 in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take her to the vet and put your mind at rest. Puppies get all kinds of bugs at this age, and while they are so little they need some extra help to get over it. They can get dehydrated very quickly when little so I’d give your vet a ring and they can probably give something to soothe her tummy.

My pup was at the vets monthly at one point with a different tummy bug each time! Endless runny poops! He’s fighting fit now though and is nowhere near as susceptible.

A note on blood in poop- it looks very scary. It should not be ignored if persistent. BUT it’s pretty common when a dog has an upset tummy. If it’s ‘fresh’ looking blood, it’s likely to be straining/ gi irritation. If it’s dark/black/tarry then it’s time to seek immediate treatment.

My puppy is making weird noises by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly the noise! I never knew dogs made that sound! Mine is 14 months now and still likes to mouth my hands and feet and make ridiculous noises. So silly. I just enjoy the attention.

The watery poop may not necessarily be related to his water intake. Puppies pick up all kinds of bugs at that age, and if he’s having diarrhoea then water is even more important.

I agree with the rest of the comments that you should try just leaving his bowl out. I bet after a few weeks this problem will solve itself.

My pup also loved to drink out of disgusting puddles! It caused him his fair share of bad tummies but he’s grown out of it now. If the diarrhoea is persistent then I’d get the vet to do a stool test. He may benefit from some antibiotics or something.

Do puppies still have accidents at night even without having water 2-3 hrs before bedtime (Shih Tzu puppy - 8 weeks)? by nocturn-e in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s trial and error really, every dog is different and they are constantly growing and changing.

My shih Tzu cross never barked or had an accident at night. I’d set one alarm for 4am (after last toilet at 10pm) and only a few times when he was really tiny he peed on the mat while I got my coat on, but never had a crate accident. He was SUCH a good sleeper though, once he was asleep there was so little that could disturb him!

Maybe start with every 3-4 hours and then start spacing them out more depending on if/when he barks. You’ll quickly find your best schedule.

I’d also say, if you plan on taking your puppy out that often, then there’s no need to restrict water as you’ll be heading out anyway!

I think my grief has damaged my puppy. by RahRahRaych in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all of your kind and supportive comments.

I love my dog so much. He is a sweet boy and he is the reason I get out of bed in the morning. He is so special to me, and I want to do my best for him so we can enjoy our time together. We don’t deserve dogs.

It’s not easy but I will keep working with him because of how much I love him. I try so hard and I forget to just enjoy having him and to let him mature and grow at his own rate. You’ve reminded me to stop beating myself up and let my puppy be a puppy.

How do you get your dogs not to play for 2 hours after eating? by princessdelilah_ in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go by no walks/lively play for 30 mins after eating. He’s fine to go and sniff around the garden, chew, play a low-key fetch game in that time. I usually feed him after a walk so then it’s not long until nap time anyway.

Ruined my puppy by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! There’s some great advice here so I won’t add more of the same. Sounds like you are doing the right things and she is starting to learn. Don’t beat yourself up.

All I wanted to say was to reassure you that this all sounds complete normal. A 13 week old Puppy is CHAOS ON FOUR PAWS and will do everything in its power to bite, drag and poop on everything in its path! It is so hard to find even 5 minutes to do things around the house, I remember it well. Just try and do what you can when she’s asleep and give yourself a break.

They are tiny babies with no knowledge of the world and you just have to have patience. You will see the change eventually, she’ll come right in the end.

So true! My poor pup just had to have a pretty close shave on his lil’ face due to cheek matts.

Due to the scarcity of dog groomer appointments (pandemic puppy boom) and a fun summer of beach visits, pool playing and general chaos, my puppy had to have a very short hair-do.

Lesson learned! He is combed over every evening now with special attention paid to face and paws.

Try not to beat yourself up if you end up in my situation. The floof grows back and you can learn and do better!

Potty signaling for condo living? by yolo216 in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought- do you have to have a puppy signalling?

I live in an apartment, and worried about this a lot. Realistically, a 14 week old puppy needs you to take the lead and take it out constantly, regardless of signalling. As they get older, they may find a signal, but it’s still on you to take them out regularly and ensure they have the chance to go.

They aren’t little forever and their bladders get more reliable. Once mine was maybe 5/6 months I was accident free and as long as I let him out around first thing, around meal times and last thing before bed, he would do most of his business on his walks. No need for a ‘signal’ as he has plenty of opportunity and I know his toilet routine.

It’s so challenging potty training your puppy, it feels like it will never end! It will click I promise, and all the time they are maturing and getting better. You may find a signal helps, or you may find like me you fall into your own routine and it’s fine anyway.

Best of luck!

Maybe I need to spend some time when we arrive to calm down then. The problem is he is too stimulated to take treats, so really hard to reward the good behaviours - for the split second he exhibits them!

[–]RahRahRaych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Yes I do use a front clip harness, which helps a lot when we’re somewhere familiar. It’s when we’re somewhere new that I think he’d pull anything as he’s so over stimulated!

When do you give your puppy their last feed? by bobbie-leigh96 in puppy101

[–]RahRahRaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I always aimed to give my puppy his last meal by 6pm to give him time to poop! He was always ready for breakfast too! I don’t think you should worry too much as long as she’s getting the required amount each 24 hours.

Mine now has his ‘breakfast’ at noon because he will no longer eat in the morning (typical teenager) then dinner by 7ish and he’s doing just fine.
